This is the first time I’ve gone to a salon for hair coloring, and I’m very happy with how mine turned out! This salon is so lovely and Chi and Janet were super nice! Will definitely be back, I felt extremely well taken care of and loved the results!

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting District 87 and was blown away by the entire experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and professional. The salon itself is beautifully designed, clean, and relaxing—a perfect setting for some much-needed self-care. Chi is nothing short of amazing! They took the time to listen to exactly what I wanted and offered their professional advice to ensure the style suited me perfectly. The attention to detail, skill, and passion they showed was truly impressive. I walked out feeling like the best version of myself. The products they use are top-notch, and Chi was great at explaining how to maintain my hair at home. It’s clear that they genuinely care about their clients and take pride in their work. I can’t recommend District 87 and Chi enough—whether you’re looking for a trim, a completely new look, or just a day of pampering, this is the place to go!

OMGGGG if you have not been to this salon you must go!!! I got color and extensions done by Chi and he is the best in NYC! I’m very picky when it comes to color but Chi knew exactly the color I wanted! I also got extensions done by him and it came out absolutely AMAZING! I have gotten so many compliments about my extensions and how the color matches so well with my hair that I want To keep my extensions in forever! Thank you Chi!!!

first off cathy answered my call and she was extremely welcoming and helpful over the phone. she helped me get an exact quote and definitely helped me make the right decision in choosing district 87. Janet did my hair, she is amazing! conversation and vibes were on point for the entire 6+ hour appt. She listened to all my wants and needs. Definitely surpassed any expectations I had. will definitely be going back to Janet! couldn’t recommend her and the salon enough!

Ernesto is an actual GOD. He saved my wedding as my hair was a disaster in the weeks leading up to it from a botched toning that left me with a ton of breakage and oh my god I cannot even express how ecstatic I was with the results. He found a way to get me as blonde as I wanted in time for my wedding while minimizing damage, AND he introduced me to a fabulous new form of extensions called V Lights that I had never heard about which literally are what made my hair for the big day. He is the best colorist I’ve ever had, and he’s incredible at working within specific hair goals or budget. Everyone tells me it’s the best my hair has ever looked. DON’T THINK JUST GO. It’s worth every penny. Thanks Ernesto💕💕💕

Already made my appointment to come back! I love love love this salon. Chi did an amazing job coloring my hair switching it from a brassy brown to a glossy cherry cola red! The color was just so yum and there was no bleach involved making me so so happy since my hair is so fried after bleaching it for a year. Definitely what I asked for and he even advised me to tone my eyebrows to match the hair color which was the best decision. And the dogs are so cute too!

By far the best hair salon i’ve ever been to! Chi is absolutely amazing. I came in for highlights and left with a perfect natural blonde color and the exact cut I was looking for. My hair had been kind of blah and a little dead and it is now so refreshed and bright - I feel like a different person! Chi is exceptionally talented and on top of that he is super welcoming and fun to talk to. Janet was also so sweet and talented and had a wonderful presence. I have been looking for a hair stylist for a while and went to Chi on a recommendation from a friend and will now be a customer for life. I live in DC and will be coming back to the city just to have Chi do my hair. I cannot say enough good things!!

First time writing any review since I had such a positive experience at District 87! Ernesto was absolutely amazing and he did such a perfect job on my hair for my first time coloring it, going from fully black to a light brown base with golden highlights :) It turned out exactly like the pictures I showed him. He really paid attention to every little detail, and I am so happy with the end result- will be back!

I really cannot 😂 please just Look at the photos of my hair. Chi replies clearly with lies! My hair was fabulous and I never complained about my previous highlights that is a major lie! I actually LOVED how my highlights came out before chi touched my hair. I did them with SANDRA downtown. She is amazing and always nails my highlights unfortunately she had no time to do my highlights that day. Please do not lie guys… that is absurd! And THANK GOD I didn’t sign that waiver’ guys don’t do it! Or else they will not give you your money back! Or try to fix it their mess. As you all can see my hair is dried and styled in those pictures and looks hideous! And the color is awful and so are the highlights. Now you know never cheat on your hairstylist or else your hair will come out like mine..no other hair salon has EVER required me to sign a waiver. Don’t do it guys!!!!!!!!! I wasn’t going to post a review because he gave me a refund but the more I look at my hair the more angry I get. I let my hair grow out for months before wanting to get highlights again and I decided to go to chi tang because he was on my neon coat (an app for models where you get a discount). I come in and show him pictures of what I wanted done! I wanted the highlights from my scalp and I wanted a beautiful bright buttery blonde. He told me that he’s an expert at this….. He’s not. My hair is completely RUINED and the color is AWFUL. I look brunette again with caramel highlights. Don’t be fooled by the pictures he takes on his Instagram because it’s all lighting and definitely editing. I hate to do this but not only is my hair terrible but also burnt off. I could see the fumes as he’s blow drying my hair. A piece of my bangs actually came off. I’m so upset as you know our hair is very important to us. And now I’m afraid to even highlight my hair again because of the damage. I’ll add some pictures so you all can see.. do not be fooled by these reviews honestly. I hate to do this but this was crazy. And his assistant also does not know how to do hair. She completely ruined my highlights. Also I arrived at 4 and didn’t leave till 9……. It never takes that long to do my nightlights he told me it was because he used low volume. What’s the point of using low volume when you’re going to fry my hair off after?

I wish I had found this salon sooner! After moving from California, I spent over a year searching for a place that specializes in Asian hair, visiting various salons but always leaving disappointed. Then I stumbled upon this gem on TikTok, and Chi effortlessly transformed my hair into exactly what I wanted. I’m beyond grateful for him and will definitely be returning in the future. The studio is spacious, clean, and absolutely stunning. For the first time, I left a salon genuinely happy with the results!

There is not enough words to describe Chi and Janet’s talent. I was going into the salon with blonde hair that had turned yellow, the knowledge and the experience put their work into a piece of art with my hair. I was here with my one month old baby and their accommodation for a baby it’s amazing and before I have not been to a salon more welcoming. I don’t usually go to salons in Manhattan because sometimes the vibe can be not so personable but this is a home from home experience and I will definitely be back in 3 months. I cannot recommend this salon and Chi and Janet enough. It’s hard to find good stylists that style blonde hair without having it damaged and I left with my hair silky smooth and my color well blended in with a natural look. Me and my daughter will be back! 🥰

I just moved to NY and will forever be going to see them for my hair. I highly recommend this salon, everyone was so friendly and accommodating.

I have never had much luck finding hair salons last minute but Ernesto DELIVERED! Upon entering, I was immediately welcomed with the beautiful, modern space and friendly staff! I was offered drinks while I wait and saw the cutest dogs! It wasn’t long until I was greeted by Ernesto and had a great consultation. I was seeking something new and refreshing and told him all the details! I recently had highlights from another salon with prior keratin treatments, knowing my hair was on the fragile side but leaned to Ernesto’s expertise to give me a little bit of a different look! He was excited and I even opened up to him about how I wanted to feel confident and sexy in my new look for an upcoming event. He was ready to take on the challenge and immediately went to mix color. He was so caring and kind and that especially shined through his work. My hair never felt better! Even after having my ends bleached, it was met with a treatment that smelled delicious and has kept my hair looking shiny and full since the appointment! I was also so pleased on his knowledge of hair and different textures after I expressed the kind of look I wanted. I have naturally curly Dominican hair but wanted a soft, bouncy blow out that mimicked 80s supermodels. In Ernesto’s care, I felt my best self and walked out of the salon ready to take on the world. The best part? It was SO AFFORDABLE! I usually pay an arm and a leg for the desired outcome I seek when it comes to beauty treatments, but I was extremely comfortable with the price point. Even after washing my hair, the blonde is still neutral and my hair feels great! I can’t rave enough about how wonderful this salon and Ernesto is, I will absolutely be back for touch ups, keratin, and even extensions! They truly have it all. I found their salon through TikTok and was really impressed by their digital portfolio too. You should absolutely come here if you want to have the BEST hair experience! This is coming from a native New Yorker, I can confidently say no other salon is doing it like District 87!

I recently had my first visit to this salon and Chi gave me a cut and beautiful ash blonde highlights. I was nervous at first, and Chi was amazing from the start and made me feel very comfortable. Chi is exceptionally talented and personable that he made it such a wonderful experience for the 6 hours I was with him. I received many compliments from strangers and friends right after leaving the salon. The cut and highlights gave me a brightened and refreshed look. I absolutely love it and wholeheartedly recommend Chi to work his magic. The salon is very clean and has a warm vibe from the energy itself and the friendly staff.

This was my first time at District 87 and I had an amazing experience! Chi and Janet welcomed me with so much warmth and kindness. I asked for a honey brown from a dark brown and it came out amazing. Ernesto saved my life and is easily the best color correction artist in NYC. Got my hair dyed for a job and it ended up way too dark and red toned when I was a light brown/bronde ash tone before. He not only got it all out and recolored to where it was before, but was also so thoughtful and attentive throughout and brought me through each step. I left with healthier hair than I came in with, and I cannot thank him enough for bringing me back to confidence.

To say this was the best hair experience of my life is an understatement. I'm a platinum blonde with a short bob haircut and have always struggled with hair health & length and volume. Ernesto suggested extensions and I was reluctant at first thinking that my hair is too damaged, fine and short for them to ever look good on me. Turns out Ernesto had the secret sauce to making all my childhood dreams come true. I left with tears of joy as I looked in the mirror seeing the most beautiful long thick blonde hair. If you relate to this let me tell you he makes miracles happen. It was also such a painless and quick install it actually took the same amount of time that it takes me to bleach and cut my hair. I give this a 20/10 and will go to district 87 for the rest of my life!!!
