Hi Today I scheduled for a 90 min Aveda facial with Miss Haley Bean. Her approach was nurturing and made me really relaxed. The facial and products selection fit my skins needs perfectly. There’s another Haley that I’ll just call Ms Haley Bird. Fantastic instructor !!!

I’ve booked 2 facials with Arianna and it’s been 10/10 experience, I definitely recommend her. She’s very professional and gentle and takes her time and has helped my skin improve in many ways. She’s also so sweet and I will be a returning client!

Book a facial with Sherronda especially if you are a woman of color she knows the best products to use on your skin!! She's very fun and outgoing ... I was very relaxed with my first facial. She will get you right 10/10 def recommend!

I got my lashes done by Sidney, it was my first time getting them done and I was a little anxious. she was so comforting and amazing. She walked me through the whole process and kept me comfortable the entire time. I’m so happy and impressed with my lashes! I highly highly recommend her and even re booked right away! Where ever she ends up going after she graduates I’ll be a regular customer!

Nope. Just awful. The SUPERVISOR ended up cutting my hair for the ENTIRETY of the cut and the quality of the cut was just awful. This supervisor had actually dismissed the student who looked bewildered and completely uncomfortable in what she was doing. The supervisor measured nothing on my hair, no comb, no brush, was pulling out my hair as it was knotted and tangled (After a "botanical conditioning treatment', no less!! my hair was dry, knotted and frizzy, and I had to go wash it at home immediately after the cut and "conditioning treatment"!!) This lady abstractly grabbed sections of my hair to 'layer' it. Despite agreeing at the beginning that they were able to do what I asked, she confessed at the end of the cut when it was over that she wasn't skilled in cutting the style we'd agreed upon. This supervisor had about THREE DOZEN interactions with different students during my cut and was barely paying attention to what she was doing with my hair. I'm shocked that she wasn't a student herself. I got home and one side's length was a literal two inches longer than the other.. remember she measured nothing, no comb, just looked like she was abstractly cutting while talking to other people the entire time. I went back to them a 2nd time to fix this and while the student was more knowledgable than the first student and supervisor from the first cut combined, I still left with an entirely different hair cut than I'd asked for, and upon checking it's still not entirely the same length and even on both sides! I guess measuring and taking 2 seconds to compare that the sides are even is absent from the instruction in this place. I've even been to other aveda teaching salons and never had this experience of lack of attention to detail and basic skills in carrying out a haircut. In fact this is my second time at this particular location! This was not at all my experience the first time I went here. In fact, the supervisor was very friendly and skilled, and gave me a nice cut. That's why I came back for this 2nd (and unwanted 3rd) appointment. Never again, I would not recommend booking here if you care about your haircut and what you'll look like if you don't want to pay to get someone else at a different establishment to fix it afterwards!

A different stylist had given me a haircut so bad that I kept my camera off during my team’s Zoom. I came to Donnie Champion for a recut, and she was incredible. She studied the photo I brought, which was of me in a previous style, and she proceeded not only to achieve that cut but also made it even more flattering. And the coolest thing is she learned—and immediately mastered—a technique that gave my thick hair texture. It’s called slithering, and I told Donnie we gonna be slithering from now up to her graduation. Gifted and lovely students like Donnie are why I keep coming to Douglas J and why I recommend you to people I meet.

Great experience with my first wax ever from Brittney! I was very anxious going in, but she made it feel like a luxurious spa experience. She was confident and professional and I knew I was good hands. The wax itself was flawless. I love it and I'll definitely be a repeat client.

I have Sherronda for a Brazilian and she made the entire experience so enjoyable. It had been years and she gave me all the information I asked about. She had me laughing during the less pleasant sections, and was so down to earth it never had the change to be awkward. 100% would recommend!

I have had two treatments at the Aveda Institute. An anti-aging facial and a back facial. Both were AMAZING! Brittney has such a sweet, relaxing touch and very professional. I've already made my next appointment for her. I'll go where ever she is hired in Knoxville. She's THAT GOOD!

I have never had a BAD experience at Douglas J, but it was until Hannah Cordell that I realized I had never had an EXCELLENT experience at Douglas J. She takes care to ensure your comfort - right lighting, noise, warmth of the room, products, conversation, table, etc. She made me feel like she genuinely cared not only about her profession, but also about me as a person and client. I will definitely return before she graduates and wish her the most success with next steps! Also, can I just say - I spilled my guts to Fire (front desk) because she is the most pleasant human being on the planet. She was so friendly, easy to talk to, and gave off the professionalism I would expect, yet still managed to befriend me at the same time. Haha. I needed this visit more than I even knew. Hannah and Fire are both amazing assets to the customer-facing side of this school - as well as to the organization in whole.

I came in for a highlight from Thomas, not only did he meet my expectations but he surpassed them completely. I’m in love with my new hair and finally found a cosmetologist in Tennessee I actually like!! I can’t wait to come back for a haircut and highlight retouch! He is so sweet and really pays attention to what you want and executes it perfectly!! you can tell he’s very passionate about hair and providing you with the best service possible! I highly highly recommend Thomas!! His teacher Amanda was also extremely extremely knowledgeable, kind, friendly, and helpful throughout my entire service! A truly amazing team!

I had my first ever facial. My beard did not slow down Brittney. She was kind, thorough & gentle. I didn’t know what to expect but she gave me peace & comfort - so much so I drifted off for a nap. I will go back & definitely see Brittney. The entire experience from front desk, to the super chill, low light waiting area, to the treatment, back out front where Brittney taught me about some products I purchased, then through check out. Good stop. I can recommend the Aveda Institute & Brittney.

Not a good experience this time. Took my son for the barbering services and I had to fix his hair at home because it was completely uneven. The instructor did clean up the sideburns and back of head after I asked but I didn't notice the whole front was uneven until we got home because he had the hair all pushed to the side. They asked if he wanted a shampoo and we told them yes but they never shampooed his hair. Plus his clothes and face were covered in hair. I even brushed it off his face in front of the instructor and she did not get the hint. Definitely my worst Aveda school experience yet and our whole family goes frequently. (Only reason I am not posting a photo is out of respect for my son's privacy).
