Dramatics is a very good option in the neighborhood for a no-muss, no-fuss $45 haircut. Lyric is welcoming and helpful with handling walk-ins. And, as opposed to a recent review, my wash and shampoo was not rushed, and was thorough and relaxing. Recommended!

I just went to get a haircut only at Dramatics on the UWS. The first thing the hairdresser said to me was, “Are you pregnant?” I said, “No, what?” And she repeated the question. I said no again. Then she said, “Oh, sorry.” I complained to the receptionist who apologized, and called the supervisor, who also apparently said that they were very sorry. So so sorry. I cannot believe I was made to pay for this experience and I will never be back. It shouldn’t matter, but I do not in any way appear to be pregnant. There is no excuse for this behavior in this day and age. Stay away from this place unless you like being called fat or reminded of medical trauma.

Jingles is great. My only complaint is the hair washer person. My other salon is a great experience but here it’s like it’s a race. Just race through washing that hair as quickly as possible and only one wash..I wish they could address that to make it a better experience instead of a bad one

I've been to plenty of salons and it's so hard to find a stylist who's great, consistent, and won't BS you. Dell is great at what he does and I totally trust him with my tresses.

Love this place! Everyone is so nice and the prices are very fair. Cello is an incredible stylist and a true artist! You may have seen his work in a magazine or a movie and didn’t even realize! He’s so humble, down to earth and joyful and really nice. Love him!! @bymarcellocosta Instagram

I went there for full highlights on a short hair. The hair was long grown natural and longer on purpose to make it easier to make highlights on and did not have any of my old highlights . I showed 5 different photos from before on how it has to be now. They’ve done limited partial highlights on rare hair and it did not look any close to what it had to look like, it looked like a grey hair with grayish rare highlights instead. Highlights done in traditional way shouldn’t be very complicated if you're a good colorist is it? Next: i payed 300 for this. No toner on top. In the next three days, I had to come back for a toner because the bleached Highlights begin to fade green. I was charged 70 for this and that all doesn't include good tips. I waited around 10 days to see what happens and it kept fading down ash green and hair mass overall started to look like a pathetic stock of grey hay. I saw another professional at a same saloon who I explained what happened, and we together admitted that the previous colorist did it wrong and originally given what i have asked for and whatever I’ve showed them on photos,- , the result should have been yes different and it was a colorist misinterpretation, or whatever it was that led to completely unsatisfying customers result. I was given another toner to shade grey color down and we agreed that i come back in a week time for an entire full hair nightlights bleaching it over again and making look different. I came to the salon for the 4th time and have done full process again. Hair got fully bleached and yellow. She had to tone it down with another toner to save it. I payed 370 exlc tip. Previously i payed 300 extl tip when they messed it up for the first time. Overall i ended up giving out 850 excl.tips for a failure that is now unsatisfactory and is an opposite to what i wanted not even mentioning providing accurate photos. Of course everyone has to have one colorist for an entire life if that is possible, but a Saloon professionals who charge that much should be more attentive to what they’re doing other wise this is an absurd and a rip off good loads of money. if the hair specialist is not a colorist, but a hair cutter or a one dark color professional applier do not suggest customers who pay that much your staff can grade your hair, right regardless. This is unacceptable and unprofessional . Every specialist has to have specifics he or shes good at and not the other way round. One cannot be good at everything altogether at a same time and it’s shameless and disappointing that management does not get that because you provide professional services for money and not forms of arts 🎭 for charity.

I have come to Dramatics for more than 10 years and love the professionalism of the staff. Marcelo Costa does my hair and he is wonderful - he really understands how to identify what looks best in me from color, to hair style and hair treatments. Thanks Marcelo and Dramatics for the great service!

There are many excellent stylists at Dramatics and I have used them for about 15 years. A few months ago I changed my commute and started using the location on 75th and Broadway. Cello is beyond excellent. He is a master stylist for color and cuts. His work is superior, innovative, and overall so flattering I don't have enough words to tell you all the smart and creative ways he helps each client. I would give 10 stars if I could. He never disapppoints!

I go in as a walk-in to any of three locations (as opposed to choosing a specific person to cut my hair), which makes it at this point $42 + tax for a shampoo and a haircut. I feel like all of their stylists do a good job; I have pretty straightforward hair. I’m taking a star away because I went yesterday and I feel like the shampoo person washed about a quarter of my head. I have a ton of hair so I understand that doing it in a thorough fashion takes effort, and I could have spoken up but chose not to. Sometimes I ask for them to make sure that they’re getting shampoo to my scalp as I’m sitting down into the hair washing station chair, but I wish that that was automatic. Not only do I want my hair to be as clean as it can be, but it’s also part of the process that feels like a bit of a spa moment, so to have that cut down was disappointing.

Dell was AMAZING! He made me feel very comfortable with my first salon color and I left feeling confident and looking great! The entire staff was down to earth and welcoming. So glad I went there!

It was my first time visit to Dramatics NYC salon, 75 & Bway to cut and dye my hair with Cello! He is so adorable and did exactly what I was looking for! I 100% recommend cutting your hair with him, he did a fantastic job!

I went as a walk in to Dramatics 3/2/24 for a wash/cut/blow and was assisted Emeralda(blonde woman, blue eyes, glasses). I asked for cheekbone hitting curtain bangs and a lot of layers with just a lil but of tapering at the ends and i wanted the layers to start around my ears and i showed photos of what i wanted and was told it could be done no problem. The first time she asked my opinion i let her know i wanted the bangs shorter and she listened but the second time she asked after having done the layering i let her know that i wanted more layering at to start around my ears because it didn’t have much and was towards the end of my hair. She tried to convince I didn’t want what i was asking for and reasoned it by saying because she has another client to take care of. I insisted i wanted what i asked for and her whole tone shifted with me. After having done the first layers with precise cuts she ended up rushing and aggressively chopping my hair in bunches resulting in me having choppy layers. I have never experienced this by a stylist before so I didn’t process the bad service right away and i believe she curled my hair to hide imperfections. She let me know the service would be $80 but $90 if i had my hair curled and i told her i didn’t want that. Without using any heat protection on my hair she blow dried my hair and curled it despite not charging me the extra for it she still went ahead and did something i told her i didn’t want done and i think it was to hide mistakes. Emeralda can’t take direction from her clients, she’s passive aggressive, and stubborn. I still tipped out if courtesy but I definitely regret it because she didn’t deserve a tip for such horrible service. short summary: Emeralda (blonde woman with blue eyes and glasses)didn’t listen to what i wanted, did her own thing to my hair, and took out her anger on my hair resulting in a bad haircut.

Felt as if I was a wet rat leaving the salon. $38 for a cut and wash, even in china town you can get your hair blow dried, cut and washed for $20 and it would look better than what I got. My cut was horrible as if a bowl was placed on my head, and even after waiting for my hair to dry at least a bit, the person next to me was complaining about his hair cut by the same guy. Highly recommend to NOT go here and I am annoyed at the service I got when I tried to fix the mistake of a hair cut

I have been coming to Dramatics on the UWS for over 10 years and I can honestly say I can’t imagine going anywhere else. The staff is phenomenal-friendly, welcoming, understanding, caring and BEYOND talented. I am constantly recommending them to people-which is easy because I’m always getting complimented on how great my hair is! Plus they have stylists who can do anything and work with any type of hair. And though I love so many of the stylists I have to give a special shout out to Edge. He’s been cutting & coloring my hair for over 4 years and he’s a true artist. If you need anything hair related, go to the Dramatics on W 75th! You’ll be treated fantastically!

I love coming here. I've lived in the upper west side for 4 years and this is the only salon I trust with my color and cut. The lady at the desk Lyric is so fun and gets things done. I'm in the service industry so my hours are usually all over the place but she always makes sure I get seen by a stylist (they're all amazing) the ambiance is really chill and friendly. 10/10 recommend!!

Love this spot. It always feels like a summer Friday in here. Everyone is super kind and efficient, and honestly knows what they're doing for an incredible price. Really pleased I live a block away from such a lovely, easy hair dressing experience!

Showed up as a walk-in for a wash and cut and was seen quickly. Asked for a trim and left the salon with half of my hair, gone. Blow dry was not included but I didn’t expect to walk out with water dripping down my back. You get what you pay for I guess.

Sorry, Dramatics. The stylist sent me on my way with a lopsided haircut — I noticed it when I was leaving, and she quickly trimmed it when I approached her about it. Upon closer inspection at home, it isn’t difficult to see the hair on one side of my face is longer the the other. Yes, this is an low-cost, walk-in establishment, but the stylists need to be attentive instead of rushing.

Went to Emerald to get the brassiness out of my light blonde hair. She didn't like the way my highlight were done and decided she "couldn't" without "fixing" them by adding lowlights. I said ok bc she showed me a photo of a girl with gorgeous blonde hair and a few dark streaks to give dimension.... I ended up with dark brown hair, no blonde. She's like "oops, your hair is porous and grabbed the color". I'm devastated. It's going to damage my hair so much to get it back to blonde now. And she had the audacity to tell me its what I wanted when we clearly had a photo to work off of. This is the worst my hair has ever looked in 40 years. I've been crying all day.
