HUGE attitude the entire visit. I was referred by a friend, and all I got was ignored, ushered around “move here” - then silence when checking out. Huge mean girl situation going on. Maybe 3 words spoken to me over 2 hours. Don’t. Nobody deserves a day in high school getting their hair done as an adult, on vacation. Lordie, bless anyone who isn’t a regular. Mean mean mean. Shame

I LOVE Duke’s Hair Studio!!! I have been having my hair styled by Patti, the owner for over 5 years!!! She’s styled my natural hair, cut and colored my hair, added extensions, etc. Patti takes pride in what she does and is not just concerned with ensuring you have a cute hairstyle, but she is also huge on healthy hair! I’ve sent countless people to her salon...friends, family, and random strangers on the street that would approach me to offer compliments on my hair. I enjoy getting my hair done at Duke’s Hair Studio. I recently cut my hair off and Patti did an awesome job. After 5 years of being natural I was ready for a change. I will just say, finding a stylist that is punctual and aims to please is hard to come by. My experience at Dukes Hair Studio, with Patti has been nothing but that!! I recently started coming to the Dukes Salon for my extensions and wanting to try something new with color and I was very pleased with the outcome. She made sure my color and extensions popped!! I received nothing but compliments. Patti's laid back and positive energy is enough for anyone to just want to visit on a day that you are down. She takes care of my hair and makes sure I am READY for whatever this world is ready to throw at me. Loving my Hair! #pattididmyhair

Several years back I came to Duke's Hair Studio with short, unhealthy relaxed hair. I'm ever so thankful that Patti has helped me transition to healthy, relaxer-free hair. Patti has been apart of my hair journey for over 10 years! We’ve done relaxers, cuts, color and most recently natural silk presses. Through all phases she’s kept my hair healthy. She’s always very professional and accommodating. Her salon is super chic and cozy. There’s always positive vibes and energy at the salon. The entire staff is extremely friendly and makes everyone feel welcome.

I believe the positive reviews are fake. The other reviews mimic my experience almost to the T. No parking, bad customer service, they couldn't care less about you, your hair or if you'll return...just your wallet. I came in for a color change, Patty, the owner suggested she add some dimensions instead, I agreed. She was supposed to do it but instead she said she was going to have someone get me started. She has someone bleach my hair to the point where it completely fried it. (See pics on Yelp) After realizing my hair was fried I told Patty I didn't want to go any further because enough damage was done and I was ready to leave. She then tells me "there was a miscommunication" (which is false because SHE's the one who suggested the multidimensional color to ME and I agreed). So she tells me she can fix my newly fried, bleached hair but couldn't do what I originally came for because "we don't have the color" then the reason changed to because my "hair was damaged" (although it was t damaged until they damaged it...she even confirmed during consultation that my hair was healthy and perfect shape for color). In the end I just wanted to leave without looking like a clown so she threw a rinse on it and charged me $220. I had been in the shop (waiting) for so long I just wanted out I didn't even want to argue about cost because what really mattered was my hair which was completely damaged. I just want to let anyone considering going here PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING PERTAINING TO COLOR OR CUT!!! also be prepared to sit waiting. This is a beautiful shop but that's pretty much it.

I had an awesome visit here. I made an appt with Jimmy. The atmosphere was relaxing the staff was very personable. I knocked some pieces loose and I came back when my stylist was out. Owner fixed it for me with a smile. This is an upscale salon. I was prepared for the price. These are licenced professionals. Parking is limited the only unfavorable thing about this beautiful salon.

My experience with Dukes Hair Salon was very much a total disappointment. When I called to make the appointment, Pattie answered the phone without a greeting but what I perceived to be a hostile, "How can I help you?" I was literally taken back, I proceeded to ask if I had reached Dukes Hair Studio, and she gave me the same response in the same tone with a "Yes" on the front end. I was totally turned off from wanting to do business with her at this point, however a good friend recommended her and I was looking for the best hair care I could get for my 17 yr old. Once I explained what I was looking for, Pattie gave me the knowledgeable feedback I was looking for and agreed to fit my child into her schedule. I was totally appreciative and brushed off the anxiety I was feeling from when she first answered the phone. Jump forward to the salon experience, consultation went well however we did not discuss price. After she blow dried my child's hair and sat her under the dryer, I asked her for the price. She said $100 even. Now of course I'm thinking that's way too much for my child who was only receiving a wash, flat iron and trim on less than 4 inches of hair, but I did say ok, I was willing to pay it but definitely thought this doesn't add up. So for a hundred dollars, I'm watching her do her hair thinking this hair better be laid, but no that's not what happened. There was nothing special about the hair style. Finally Pattie slides my card and the receipt says $105, I was not happy. So you are just going to fail to mention why you ran my card for an extra five bucks. No explanation, no nothing? Things like this make me feel like you are only concerned about the money in that moment and could care less about receiving repeat business. I hate to feel like someone is simply trying to get over on me and is a definite reason why I won't ever return. I also read the Yelp review in regards to the woman who paid, $130 for two perms and a roller set and I only paid $25 less for way less those services. Smh! I should have just hung up after that the initial rude ass phone call!

Scheduling an appointment: After seeing so many positive reviews (which I now think are fake), I decided to give Duke's Hair Salon a chance. I gave Patti a call, where she simple answered with a "Hello". She never said, "Duke's Hair Salon how can I help you," and for a minute I thought I had the wrong number. We scheduled and appointment for the following weekend. Visiting the Facility: Unfortunately, I was running late and called ahead to let her know. I am a patient person and I don't mind waiting as long as the experience and hair style is done nicely. Patti (the owner) greeted me at the door. The facility has limited parking and I was concerned I was parked in a bad spot. She mentioned I could park anywhere. I am not from the area so I didn't quite understand what she meant as there was a small driveway in front of the facility that could only fit two cars. Apparently, you can park next door at another business, which personally, I don't think is appropriate. Service of Patti (owner and stylist): I came in for a relaxer and style. Patti failed to consult me on my hair, but instead had another stylist relax my hair. The other stylist also didn't take the time to consult me on my hair. I was under the impression that if Patti was going to do my hair she was going to manage the entire process (relaxer and styling), but she had another stylist named Africa perform the process. Additionally, please be warned that she up charges her prices. As a client, I shouldn't have to ask or guess if a roller set would be an additional to my relaxer. If we agree on a price, then that should be the price. If the price has to change, then that should communicated to the customer so I can decide if that is what I would want to do. Again, this could all have been adverted if Patti took the time to step away from her station for a moment, greet, guide, and consult me on my hair and the overall process. It's sad how two minutes could make a HUGE difference. Overall: Overall, Patti attempted to charge me 130 dollars for a relaxer and roller set. I will not be returning and I would like to warn those who do visit the salon that customer service is lacking. Patti please hire a receptionist, and learn to communicate. I felt nickel-and-dimed and when I went to explain my grievance she took it personally. She told me my hair took two packs of Affirm relaxer (which is normal for my hair), and for that reason she has to charge more. This conversation happened after the relaxer occurred. Please note this all could have resolved with one statement during the relaxer process – “Ma’am, unfortunately, we weren’t able to finish your relaxer with one item, we would need to use additional relaxer for your hair. It will cost a couple of dollars more, is that ok?” The conversation ended with her telling me she didn't want me come back to her salon (being asked to not return to a salon has NEVER happened to me). I am fine with not returning because I didn't want to come back after being treated so poorly, but her reason for not wanting me to come back is because she didn't like my "vibe." I am happy to NEVER return as I can spend my money somewhere else that provides great services. I just feel sorry for the other stylist. Last Note: Dear Patti, I hope you learn to receive feedback. On another note, ladies if a stylist can't take feedback/listen during a process where you are allowing them to manipulate your beautiful hair...that is not a good stylist.
