Not a hotel, but one of the most relaxing, interesting and wonderful places to stay. Seems like they’re in a transition right now, and we hope they find their path. We will always want to stay at Eastover when in the Berkshires.

My wife took me here to celebrate my birthday this June, and it was the best birthday present ever! To begin with, this part of western Massachusetts is one of the most beautiful areas in the entire world, and major music and dance festivals are very close by. The food was great, and the staff eagerly worked with me (I have various food issues) to make it be that way. We attended a Daoist/Taoist conference, and morning qigong (chi kung) exercises couldn't be done in a better setting by better people. A major workshop space was a very large, perfectly clean and charmingly rustic barn complete with an array of horse drawn carriages securely hanging on the walls. There are plenty of pictures on the internet of the place's beauty, and cleanliness. And it's large--try its 600 acres for a pleasant walk around the grounds. I recommend it for a pleasant get away throughout the year with loved ones, and also to attend a holistic rejuvenating retreat for your total well-being in a historically charming and beautiful space. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful, great staff, great rooms.

Such gorgeous grounds and there was plenty to do with nature walks everyday and using the beautiful yoga studio for classes daily.

Incredibly beautiful and peaceful location. We had a conference here and it went well. Some of the food is actually sourced onsite, (the eggs are delicious). The staff friendly and accommodating.

This is a sad story about the Eastover Estate in Lenox MA. The place has died and no one told them they were dead! I was the winning bidder in the 2019 Berkshire Holiday Auction. I received a voucher for a one night stay for February 16th, 2020 at Eastover Estate for two people in the East Colonial building, king room, continental breakfast and wellness classes included. I was told when I made the reservation that Eastover had an indoor pool.||We arrived just after 2PM on the 16th. The reception desk is located in the Mansion and you get there by walking through the Café. The Café was in complete disarray. Old food I’m guessing from breakfast was left out on the serving counter (looked like it was scrambled eggs at some point), brown apple chunks, and other unidentifiable items. The room was extremely cold in temperature. I walked through the café to the reception area. No one was at the desk, so I wandered around to have a look. The place has a musty smell to it. Almost like what you expect if this Mansion was locked up for years. There was dirt, trash, food particles and debris on the floors. The reception area needed a good dusting as anything you touched left a film behind on your hands. ||After a short 15 minute wait a woman came by to check me in. She said that we were staying in West Colonial Building and in a Queen room. Not the East Colonial building in a king bed. That building has a completely different feel and look from the East Colonial Building. I was also informed that there isn’t breakfast served nor is there coffee in the rooms. She doubled checked with the owner to make sure that there was no breakfast. The closest breakfast restaurant was in downtown Lenox about a ten-fifteen minute drive away. She said she believe there was two restaurants however she couldn’t remember the names. She went on to say the indoor pool is closed. ||We left the Mansion (Eastover should put doormats on the INSIDE so that you can wipe your feet before you go outside) we drove to the West Colonial building and went to the room. There was a couple staying in the room next to us. The walls are so thin that I could hear their radio playing and that the couple next to us were having an argument. I won’t get into the details of the argument but I will say that the women was right. ||Since this wasn’t the building, room type, the place has thin walls (a bed sheet would offer more sound proofing than what the wooded walls offered), no continental breakfast, no pool, and the place is just run down and dirty, we decided to cut our losses and leave after being in the room for 15 minutes. ||Eastover Estate has seen better days. There are so many places to stay in the area that offer the same things to do. It appears to me that over the years Eastover just gave up. No longer do the owners see what new eyes see when they visit. The appearance and upkeep of the buildings and the smells are just short of criminal. I don’t believe that a coat of paint and running a comb through its hair is going to help. I believe the current owners had been there since 2010. Perhaps it’s time for the current owners to pass the torch. The Eastover needs major work and investment so it can return as a premier estate it once was.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. When I made the reservation I was told we were in a room with a queen and a full sized bed. When we arrived we had a full and a twin bed for 2 adults and 2 kids. The TVs do not work, which we were never told, no hot water in the shower and the room was filthy.. We found trash and other items that were left in the room from previous occupants. On arrival the room was like an oven and it took forever for the AC to cool the tiny space. The grounds were a mess, the indoor pool had frogs swimming in it and there was an awful smell in all of the buildings. The breakfast seemed to be reheated from the previous day and there was a very small selection.. I attempted to complain to the woman at the front counter, however she just smiled and didnt have anything to say. I wish I could cancel the payment... All this for $190/night.. STAY AWAY... FAR, FAR AWAY..

If you are expecting the Gatsby experience go find it in Newport but if you looking for a relaxing getaway surrounded by natural beauty, this is your place. Glad I read the reviews first and was impressed the owners seemed to address the feedback from past guests. The signs were easy to read, the staff explained there are no tv's in the rooms (fine by me), no turndown service (who needs it) but plenty of towels in the room and more available on request. That said there were a few glitches at check-in (couldn't find our reservation, gave us the wrong key) and the tai chi teacher never showed up for the morning class and the pool looked like it had seen better days, but staff was exceedingly friendly and cheerful. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast delicious and varied.

The condition this property is in is quite unfortunate. To see such a beautiful estate not being cared for and it deteriorate as it is, is sad and a waste. The main house is an impressive structure and very beautiful, but kept very minimally. Had we known where we would be staying ahead of time, we would have paid double to stay in the main house. The website had said the main house rooms were sold out, however, no one appeared to be staying there while we were there. The entire property, including common areas for sitting, were full of weeds and gravely unkempt. The only area to sit outside is directly behind the house and the furniture is falling apart with cushions either missing or torn apart. There are so many beautiful areas of the house to enjoy, but because of weeds and no furniture, they are forgotten. The "cabins" you actually do stay in are inadequate unless you like to experience a step up from camping. The rooms are dark and have a strong odor. Half the electrical outlets do not work, there is no phone and when we asked why the tv didn't work, the receptionist told us "the owner cut the cable." Hot water is limited and the two keys we were given, one didn't work. There's absolutely no amenities like an iron, so being from out of town for a wedding made it a bit interesting to get ready. The breakfast is in no way as healthy as they claim and we opted to go to cafes both mornings we stayed at the Estate. The pool is in terrible condition with it needing to be repainted and there was barely any furniture in the facility to sit. At the price we paid, I would have expected much better accommodations. Although this message is to future patrons, I think the current owners need to know the condition the property is in because it is definitely not being managed to its potential.

The mansion is beautiful and has fantastic views. It is a beautiful, historic building with ornate fire places and wood trim. The outdoor patio area was overgrown with weeds and the many of the patio furniture pads were torn and mildewed. There is a small decorative pool which was empty and dirty as well. We stayed in the “ranch” where we paid $175/night for a room with 2 full beds and one twin. Mattresses were all very different but luckily one of the beds was somewhat comfortable. The room was clean and basic. AC quickly cooled the room. We appreciated their eco consciousness with refillable toiletries. The indoor pool had a mildew and smell which seemed to come from stagnant water in the storage area. The pool also needs to be repainted and cleaned more but it didn’t stop us from taking a quick dip. The outdoor jacuzzi was empty and the cover had mildew on it. Overall, it’s evident that the business model of focusing on retreats isn’t working. The hotel was mostly empty with no one staying in the mansion while we were there and one staff person who left at 9pm. I can’t imagine paying $400/night for the mansion rooms since the hotel has no amenities. Due to the cleanliness of the grounds we opted not to trust the breakfast which was only available for an hour anyways but we found a fantastic spot in downtown Lenox instead!

We went for Tanglewood, not a retreat. There were many issues we encountered, but overall, we liked the place. Signage and directions to rooms are confusing, there should be more accurate signs. The rooms have NO soundproofing. The pillows are GIGANTIC and uncomfortable. Registration sign-in was impossible to find - IT IS IN THE COVE RESTAURANT (the window has a small sign). We had to stop an employee to find where to check in.||||But the room are large and comfortable. And the pricing was the best in the area. NO TELEVISION - that was a plus for me, but they do have internet. ||||But breakfast is ONLY between 8 and 9:30, and only continental (they gave us more for the July 4th week and weekend). ||||We also met a wonderful Qi Gong Master (we were given a page at check-in, which omitted her presence) and although there were problems, we would come back.

Went for an escape weekend to Tanglewood. Looked for an inexpensive alternative to a road side Berkshire motel. Eastover was a great surprise. Very clean and welcoming. Great food. Grounds and upkeep could be better but with time I’m sure it will improve. Take a chance on a great stay

I stayed in the Ranch House for a short mindfulness retreat during the low-season. The amenities were more than sufficient (hot water, mini-fridge, good heating, plasma TV). I had daily interactions with the staff and owner, and had time to explore the campus. Even in the dead of winter, it’s an enchanting property, and seemingly endless. They’re working on various eco-projects and the food is very mindfully prepared (organic, whole, yummy). I’m excited to return during the warmer months.

I used to come to Eastover as a child and wanted to show my husband. I knew that it was bought by someone else who is renovating. She is doing a marvelous job! We were given a tour and a little history of how much effort she has put into having a wonderful retreat estate. The mansion renovation are so gorgeous. What she has done in the timeframe she has had should be applauded. I wish them all the best. We will definitely be back for Tanglewood. Lenox is a great place to visit and I was so happy to spend the time there and remember all my past times growing up.

Sat nam fest here is wonderful. I have never been in a more location for a yoga\meditation retreat. I will be back in the future. I recommend sat nam fest east to anyone interested in yoga on the east coast or nearby

This is a place worth checking out - despite the group consensus nickname for the owner as the 'dragon lady' - its a lovely setting with a cool space for workshops in the barn area. Trails behind the property are a nice reprieve if you are there taking an intensive workshop. The snags in the experience here is the owners desire to control bookings and payments when this is clearly an area she should hand over to someone else to cover since she does not have the even keel personality needed to run the desk and payments. She has terrific intentions though and I am sure this space will be a huge success once she develops trust in others to manage the guests for her.
