I visited this location about 3-4 times, each time hopeful of a better experience. For both manicures and pedicures, the services have felt rushed, messy, and unpolished. My fingernails and toenails have all been shaped differently, some being left shorter than others and at different angles. The basic pedicure is $35 and I honestly don’t feel like that price is justified for the quality of service I received. I really wanted to give this place the benefit of doubt, but each time I leave disappointed.

I have come here twice now for manicures, and had a great experience both times. Trina was very efficient and personable in handling all the customers, and was able to fit me in even though I did not book in advance. She also convinced me to try the shellac gel polishes, which lasted for 3+ weeks without any chipping or breaking. Will definitely continue coming here in the future!

I got the basic package and they charge for a nail kit. They advertise a hot towel which makes you think they are going to wrap a hot towel around your legs. It’s really a hand towel they use to wipe off the orange scrub which was Luke warm. I attempted to talk with the gal working on my feet and got one word answers or complete silence. I would not recommend anyone to go here.

I had a fantastic experience at Essence Nails and Spa! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and taken care of. The salon is impeccably clean, and the staff is both professional and friendly. The attention to detail was superb. The nail technician took her time to ensure that each nail was perfect and even offered me an array of color options to choose from. The massage chairs were a great addition to the relaxing atmosphere. What stood out the most to me was how knowledgeable the staff was. They offered helpful tips on nail care and even recommended specific products that would help maintain my manicure for longer. The salon also adhered to all health protocols, which made me feel safe and comfortable throughout my visit. I appreciate the effort they put into providing a sanitized and secure environment for their customers. I highly recommend Essence Nails and Spa for anyone looking to pamper themselves. This salon sets the standard high for quality and customer service!

My daughter and I have been going to Essence Nails for years and always have a great experience! They are clean, professional, kind, efficient, and do a consistently fantastic job with our shellac manicure. Great location with easy parking.

Trina was phenomenal, and so patient as I flipped back and forth between multiple shades of blue. I came in to get my nails done for my engagement 💍 and I LOVED it! Here is the picture from the big day — and pictures from today, almost 3 weeks later! All 10 of the nails are still 100% intact!!! Thank you Trina!!!

Update :( I’m not sure if there’s new staff but the last couple times I went I’ve been very disappointed. I got a gel manicure and was up charged 15$ and didn’t realize it until I got into my car. I’ve been going here for about a year so wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and made another appointment. I went to get my acrylics off and the girl literally ripped them with pliers and two of my cuticles bled. I told her it was very painful and she kept going. I’ve never had acrylics before and so I wasn’t sure how the process was removing them. I spoke to some friends that get acrylics and they said definitely should not be pulled off, it’s usually soaked then sanded off. My nails are typically really strong, however after her ripping the acrylics off it damaged so many of my nails she had to cut them uncomfortably short. I proceeded to get a basic gel mani and was charged $60 for this.. I could have done a better and painless job at home, super disappointed.

After a horrible experience at ultimate nails, this place ended up being such a delight! Not only were my nails and my granddaughter‘s sparkling, but they were so professional yet personable! Although it’s understated on the inside and a little pricey, it is well worth it! It’s a prime example of never judging a book by its cover! It was well worth it!😊

I really hate leaving bad reviews. But I am so tired of spending as much money as I do (I’m sure so many can agree) and receiving the service I do. And then on top of that are expected to tip. I have been a server for 7 years, so it’s not like I am bothered by gratuity. I walk in and ask if they have time for a pedi and a full set, but pedicure is my first priority. There were no guests, and two employees in there so they said “YES” with much enthusiasm. It wasn’t until I sat down and was having my nails drilled that she mentions she only has time for a “basic” pedicure. However didn’t explain what that was. A little bothered already because the pedicure was my first priority but, whatever. After rushing through my full set, with a very un even paint job she takes me to the pedicure chair. At that point two people walk in saying they had an appointment. It all made sense at this point. She told them she was running behind. So she made her appointment wait while she gave me the worst and most stressful pedicure I have ever had. Honestly all I was looking forward to was having my feet massaged. Like I said, I am a server so I’m on my feet all day. So I’m fine to put all of this aside. Turns out the basic comes with no massage. I have never in my life heard of a pedicure that doesn’t come with a massage. So that was extremely disappointing. I understand small businesses and getting your money where you can. But when someone comes in for a service, communication is at least expected. I’m done being tricked by nail salons and paying top dollar for sub par work. It’s absolutely unfair to the customer and it happens more often than not now.

Literally the worst customer service. I walked in and was stared at by the staff before anyone finally asked "can I help you." There was one person getting a pedicure, one getting nails. A worker finally asked what I needed and told me to pick a color. I sat down, picked a color and waited. No one said anything about how long I would be waiting, when my turn was, or anything. A lady and her mom came in and were quickly seated in a chair, and were talked to and greeted. After that I put my color back and left. The difference in treatment was so disrespectful. Anyone could have AT LEAST said, we will be with you in a minute, or we have a few appointments can you come back? NOTHING. So rude.

I had a wonderful visit!!! So glad to find this gem! It is always a roll of the dice trying a new salon, but this one is a winner! The pedicure with hot stone massage and paraffin was heavenly. The shellac on my toes is the best I have had. She was very gentle but also made my severely rough heels smooth as silk!!! I am super hard on my nails as a housekeeper (and cleanliness is very important to me!) So I just wanted to strengthen my nails but keep them natural. I absolutely love the very strong but natural results! She used a nude color and shaped them exactly as I asked. The little extra expense for shellac is definitely worth it, especially with how hard I am on my nails. I also requested a knuckle wax and it was super reasonable, quick, and thorough. I will definitely be coming back from now on and referring friends! Thank you ladies!

I love my manicure! My technician really knew what she was doing getting my stubborn acrylics off. She had me in and out the door in no time, in the best way possible. My gel is very neatly done. Will definitely be coming back here!

I always go to Essence Nails! I get a pedicure with shellac every time and my sister gets a manicure. They have lots of color choices, are very clean, and professional. Good prices as well, and many different options for pedicures. Love this place!

I came to this place for dip powder and was offered solar acrylics because it would “last longer and wouldn’t damage my nails”. I came two different times and both times acrylic was lifting from natural nails. They leave so much space between the nails and the cuticle, they look overgrown. I finally went back to my old nail salon and was asked where I had got my nails done because they damaged my nails. My daughter had also came for regular nail polish and that same night after her bath all the polish peeled off. This place is too expensive for the quality you get!

I popped in here when I first moved to Portland a few months ago. It was a nice enough atmosphere and the shop was clean. My nails came out... okay. The tech cut my finger with a nail file, so that detracted somewhat, but I know accidents happen. They did start to chip off toward the end of the manicure's life, which I haven't seen happen in a long time. I tried out another place after this one and I've stuck with it since then.I just like the way my nails turn out better there.

Love getting my nails done here, everyone is so nice and wants to make sure you are happy with your visit. Great availability, remember returning customers (like myself) and will ask how you are doing. Prices are fair for the level of work they do and have a great selection of colors!
