I’m so disappointed I came in and asked for layers and this is what I got !!! This is suppose to blend in ??? So unprofessional . The lady was so aggressive and rude. My hair is just ruined

2024 update: Affordable Dominican hair salon with a skilled hairstylist. Small business where appointments are preferred. Payment via Zelle is accepted. 8/13/2021 update: The salon has relocated, on the same block, to 114 Cortelyou Road. 2/2021 Update: Due to the pandemic, services are now primarily by appointment. Masks are worn at all times and surfaces that come into contact with clients are regularly disinfected. I have felt safe using their services since the State allowed salons to reopen. Soleymi, who is Spanish-dominant, is highly skilled. She does understand when one communicates with her in English. I have not had any issues/concerns with her services in my many years (over 10yrs) frequenting the salon. I continue to recommend this small neighborhood business.

My hair is completely natural and Sulemy makes it look like a fresh relaxer each and every time! She cuts and highlights with precision. Mandatory appointment makes salon visits quicker and to the point. Zelle payments now accepted adds to the convenience. I travel a half hour passing many other Dominican salons to get to Sulemy week after week and it is worth it.

Just moved to the neighborhood and so happy I tried this place yesterday! I had an appointment day-of, and will definitely be back. Soleimy looked at the pictures of what I wanted (a long pixie, slightly reshaped from the current cut), confirmed the cut was what I wanted along the way, and did a great job. Walked out very happy, and the prices are so reasonable!

Hands of a goddess! I've been to many hair salons, but Soleimy's skills cant be compared, she makes my hair look so good! One yip I can give is to make sure you call ahead of time to make your appointment. I always walk out of her salon feeling great about my hair, and I appreciate all the hair tips she always gives me to keep my hair healthy. 👏👏

I was recommended to come here and I am so glad I did! For background, my hair was damaged from box dying it dark a lot, and dying the underneath part purple on my own. I had no actual clear vision of what I wanted my hair to be, but as I showed Soleymi, the owner/stylist, a picture of something similar that I wanted, she helped me by giving her expertise and from what she knew I liked. Throughout the entire process, she was always attentive and communicating with me to make sure we were on the same page. I’ve been to plenty of high end salons in the city, and I have never felt so calm or confident in a salon chair! I trusted her to give me a small trim which really in the end made my hair look amazing and healthy all around, while maintaining the length. As I was there, I could tell she has good relationships with her clients for a reason, as the regulars came and went happily. This cute small salon is truly a gem, and I definitely see myself coming here for any future hair appointments and I HIGHLY recommend others giving this a try for anything big or little! I love my new look and have not stopped receiving compliments, my before and after pictures still wow me

I’ve been going to Family Unisex for over 9 years and the only people Ive trust with my hair. From cutting to dying to extensions to blow drying my hair you name it I’ve done it all here. Soleimy the owner of the business also the one who’s always done my hair is professional, she has never done a job that she might think it can damage my hair. Always honest! She cares more about the health of your hair instead of making money. I recommend this salon to anyone who’s looking for any hair service done the right way! Gracias Soleimy eres la mejor!

I have been loyal customer to this place until recently, the owner did my hair & she was terrible 😖 her service also, doing so my hair. This place is trash not worth the money also, bad hygiene.

I was recommended to the shop and just wanted a wash and set. Jenny who no longer works there was cooperative but Solemy did not understand the fact that the conditioner needs to be thoroughly washed out and would argue that it was needed because my hair would tangle. I use a leave in and if she was proficient would know how to use the product and how to detangle my hair before I left the sink. Days later my head would itch. Her attitude was obvious, she would roll her eyes behind my back which is unprofessional nevermind I would hear her mumble to her other clients in spanish oh by the way I understand the language. Won't go back, my hair would be hard and lifeless. You had to be spanish to receive good treatment, I give my service and tips to a real professional! Nunca nunca nunca!

This is the only place I trust with my hair. They don't take appointments but they are good at seeing everyone and giving individualized attention. It is run by Soleimy (she speaks primarily in Spanish but understands English) and Jenny (fluent in both languages) is a master at knowing what style and color would work best. I trust her completely. The prices are reasonable as well. You won't be disappointed.
