Dawn the owner is wonderful and has cultivated a relaxed, non pretentious atmosphere at her salon which has been open in the heart of Wicker Park for many years! 100% recommend neighbors supporting this business!

Miranda is the best!!! I have a weird combination of kind of wavy kind of curly hair, and she's helped me understand it so much better! She's also just so nice and funny- I love being in her chair!

The receptionists are very rude and unwelcoming here. They did not acknowledge me upon walking in. This is not my first bad experience with the front desk here.

Molly is a very nice girl and I enjoyed my appointment with her and that's what the 1 star is for... However, I left with my hair wet so my guess is she couldn't see the color of my hair. I asked for icy blonde hair and my hair was blonde already. When I got home and my hair was dry I saw that it was patchy, uneven and two different colors that definitely don't go together. When I called the salon the first thing they said is well she comes back on Tuesday (3 days away). They didn't say I'm so sorry or come right back and we'll fix it or anything. When I then said, "so I just have to walk around with patchy hair that's 2 different colors until I can get in", she put me on hold and asked Molly who asked if I could come later that evening and I couldn't. When I said I couldn't they just say on the phone in silence. I believe I should've been offered a refund and a fix and I wasn't. Good thing I had a pixie so I could just give myself a buzz cut.

The second I got to fringe, the atmosphere was lovely, warm, and friendly. The staff did everything in their power to make me feel comfortable and at home. They asked me multiple times if I needed anything to drink and always made sure I had what I needed. However, when it came to the actual haircut, I was severely let down. I left with a haircut which, to tell you the truth, wasn’t even bad, it just wasn’t what I asked for. Not a big deal! And, I will give the owner all the credit in the world! She immediately booked me a redo appointment free of charge which I was very happy about. However, this redo appointment went horribly wrong. As the stylist was cutting my hair, she said a few concerning things such as “Maybe this is too many layers” “if your hair wigs out in a weird way after this, it’s just because it’s a big change” “if you need to come back again, that’s ok.” She was obviously unsure the whole time which of course concerned me. And well, it was in fact too many layers. And yes, my hair does wig out in weird ways now. And no, I am not letting anyone there ever touch my hair again so no I will not be going back for the third time in a week. I’m really not looking forward to doing extravagant hairstyles everyday for the next 6 months until this grows out and I can wear it down again. I have never had a worse haircut. My hair is shooting out in the weirdest directions and there are strange empty spaces and swoops because of how the layers were cut. I even showed a reference picture (of myself!) but somehow, neither stylist could make me look like me which I am having a hard time understanding. I would not recommend fringe to anyone with curly or wavy hair. I strongly dislike the way I look now and I’m out $70. Will not be returning.

My 1st time here and everything was amazing. Immediately greeted when I walked in, and staff was super friendly. I had an appointment with Michael who not only fixed my crazy hair, but made it look absolutely amazing. I love that he took the time to explain the things I was doing, and make recommendations. I also appreciated his patience as I have no idea what I'm talking about. Michael took the time after to give me helpful hints on how to get the most out of my color. I will absolutely be back.

Appointment for same day service was easy for a Sunday afternoon. Miranda delivered exactly what my daughter was looking for. The waiting area is inviting and the staff is friendly. Conveniently located on a bustling commercial street Fringe is the place to go for the pampering time we all deserve.

I understand that stylists get busy and have packed schedules but I’ve had some unfortunate things occur in my personal life and have made that known to my stylist. While she was sympathetic, I didn’t appreciate her tone or the attitude she gave me. She’s more concerned about her income, which I understand and was more than willing to tip her extra to reschedule an appointment that I apologized about. She was completely dismissive and kept saying “no”, I’ll be going out of town, I’ll be busy, I’m double booked and all these other things. When she saw how down I’ve been feeling, she was only confirming if I was coming to my appointment and not asking if I’m ready to see her. Frankly it’s just a hair appointment and she’s behaving like it’s far more detrimental than it is, saying I completely messed up her schedule which I did not intentionally mean to do. Also no professional and caring stylist triple books anybody and gives you a half hour window frame for a color and cut. So I had no other choice but to find another stylist. She then proceeded to block me on her social media. I would say, she’s unprofessional, pretty insincere and has some maturing to do. But everybody’s experiences are different. I wouldn’t recommend Molly. I also saw her before so I wasn’t necessarily a new client. Sorry, I won’t be coming back to this salon. It’s a far commute for me anyway since I’m on the complete opposite side of the city but was willing to come out to Wicker Park for my appointment. It’s not even worth it anymore. At the end of the day it’s a business and people do not care about you. They only care about their profit.

I’ve been coming here for the last 2 years and I trust these people so much. I would recommend booking with Dineen! Dineen is so much fun and great at giving advice on hair if you are ever unsure. She really takes care of her clients and is the reason I keep coming back. Dineen is very gifted!

Michael was amazing! I was nervous since it was my first time coming there and he made sure I loved my hair and gave me tips on how to style my new hair! Coming back again would recommend to everyone!
