I can't rave enough about Erika or this salon.LOVE LOVE LOVE. Erika has a great sense of color and is gifted in designing a hair style that will bring out your true beauty, You can trust her to do what YOU ask and she will offer you her opinion without being pushy, Her color correction skills were phenomenal. I had the best hair color ever, Red is a very difficult color to remove, but she did a wonderful job with the color correction. I needed a new color and a new haircut. My cut and color are perfect. Her blow dry has lasted 3 days, the longest ever. Without question,I have recommended Erica to many friends (and stangers) and they have all been very happy.

Amazing place for cut, color and highlights! In the three years that I've been going here, I've never had a bad experience. Cool vibe, amazing prices and skilled hairdressers who take the time to give you exactly what you want make this place as good as it gets. Perfection! The salon, the location, the staff and of course THE STYLIST!! Jason is AMAZING!! He is a great talent. I have super thick, hair and he knows exactly how to handle it. He is not scared of thick hair, if you hair like mine you know exactly what I mean. He also styles my husband's hair which is the complete opposite and does a great job! I could not ask for anything more. Jasonis the best!! I absolutely loved it!!

Extremely Disappointing Experience I called the salon to ask for a price and was told I needed to come in person. Once there, the manager examined my hair, we agreed on a price, and scheduled an appointment for the next day. When I arrived on time, I was made to wait for an hour and was assigned to a stylist who was clearly inexperienced, nervous, and ultimately damaged my hair. The results were unprofessional, the color was not what I requested, and to make matters worse, the manager charged me double the agreed price, claiming the stylist spent the entire day on my hair—when this was due to her lack of experience. They refused to take responsibility for the damage or the price change. I do not recommend this salon. If you decide to go, make sure to get the price in writing and confirm the stylist’s level of experience beforehand. Me informaron que debía acudir en persona para recibir un presupuesto exacto. Al llegar, fui atendida por el encargado del salón, quien llamó a una especialista para examinar mi cabello. Después de explicarle que quería un balayage, llegamos a un acuerdo mutuo sobre el precio y programamos la cita para el día siguiente por la mañana. Al llegar puntualmente al día siguiente, me hicieron esperar una hora antes de atenderme. Para mi sorpresa, la especialista que asignaron era alguien con muy poca experiencia, algo que fue evidente desde el principio por su nerviosismo. A pesar de mis dudas, decidí confiar en el proceso, pero debería haber seguido mi instinto. El resultado fue muy lejos de lo que esperaba: el trabajo no fue profesional, el color no era lo que quería, y mi cabello quedó visiblemente dañado. Para empeorar las cosas, al momento de pagar, el encargado me cobró el doble del precio acordado, justificando que la especialista había pasado “todo el día trabajando en mi cabello”. Esto es inaceptable, ya que el precio ya había sido fijado previamente, y el tiempo que tomó fue por falta de experiencia de su parte, no por mi culpa. En resumen, este salón no se hizo responsable del daño causado a mi cabello ni del cambio en el precio acordado. Mi recomendación es que si deciden acudir, asegúrense de que el precio quede por escrito y verifiquen la experiencia de quien va a realizar el servicio. No recomiendo este lugar y espero que mi reseña sirva para evitar que alguien más pase por lo mismo.

I just had one of the best haircuts I have ever had by Rosa!! I had very long, wavy in some spots, overgrown layers, and hadn't had a really good haircut in years. Came to this salon for the first time today and I was so happy with my haircut!!!! She listened carefully to what I wanted and was so meticulous with my cut. The end result was perfect! And she was a pleasure to chat with. Will definitely be back.

This place is fantastic, I just got a beautiful manicure by Michelle and it was just perfect, detailed oriented, constantly asked if I was pleased with the work she was doing, she is also super kind. I will be coming back for sure.Got a nice massage by Labib that gave me a nice reset for the rest of the day :)

This was my first time at this salon and I'm glad I went there! I saw a lot positive reviews about Davit and knew he would be the person for my balayage and I was right! It came out looking natural and beautiful! So many compliments!! If you are looking for the right hair stylist, look for Davitl!! He's the best in the field!

Best stylist NYC Midtown By far the best stylist I have been to. Salon Gabriel Shimunov has become my favorite place to have my hair done. Eric and Dana saved me from the worst hair color. I was simply amazed by how well they was able to not only salvage what had been done (by another salon), but they made it look fabulous. This time around, I had the pleasure of having Eric cut my hair as well Dana color it. I have never had a BETTER color/cut than this. I'm thoroughly pleased and will definitely return!!! I recommend to everyone. And the salon is beautiful!

It was my first time at Salon today and my hairstylist, John, made me feel comfortable and relaxed from the start. I've read several reviews on him and all have been A+++ reviews. Personally, I thought he was very patient and understanding throughout the entire process. He listened to every detail I had to say about my hair and how I wanted it and then kindly made his suggestions. He explained clearly what the results would be and the price. He worked incessantly on my hair until it was complete. Because I have so much hair he rearranged his entire schedule without hesitation. He seems to lead a good relationship with his clients since rescheduling appointments was not a big deal for any client. That being said, I'm sure if he had an appointment that could not be moved he would have asked me to come back the next day and prioritized for his client.

Seriously this is the best hair place in Midtown, Manhattan!! Everyone here is kind, friendly and professional. . My new guy Polo is amazing. I visited NYC and decided to have a hair cut so I looked for the salon on line Gabriel Shimunov Salon really did stood out! So happy I picked it. I had long hair and came to cut it real short, quite of a change !!! Polo, my hairdresser did an amazing job !!! He listened to me, we discussed everything. I've showed him the photo of a haircut and the color I'm looking for, and he did it exactly the way I wanted it and even better. His suggestions was so helpful as well. I highly recommend this place and Polo!!! I travel a lot and had my hair done all over the world...he was the best ever!!! Best hair salon experience I've ever had!!!! Thank you Polo!!!

The salon is fun and friendly. Just had my hair colored and cut by Tanya. She is wonderful. My hair was extremely thick and heavy. I swear I get headaches just walking around with my hair down. She did an awesome job thinning it out for me. I feel 2 pounds lighter! My roots were showing big time I made an appointment for a different change. The receptionist who squeezed me in last minute - I called in on a Friday morning and booked an appointment that same Friday afternoon. I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Very clean and modern interior gets you excited. I highly recommend Tanya to anyone who is wanting nothing but the best. Love LOVE love this salon.

I absolutely love love love this place... From the time I walked in, the staff was super friendly and the first thing they offered me was something to drink. While I waited for my stylist, I filled out a new client contact information sheet. My stylist Nancy came to greet me and take me to her chair. Nancy was wonderful! She took her time to understand my hair situation and styling techniques; so that she could make recommendations. The consultation took more than I had ever experienced with any other stylist, which I greatly appreciated. She really listened to what I wanted but made suggestions on the cut as well as products that would help me tame my hair. I also had color, which I love because my hair looks healthier! Thank you Nancy and for making your clients feel fabulous. :) Also, on-line scheduling is super-convenient. 5 stars from me.

I love love my hair cut & balayage color.! David was my colorist and stylist, and I love my hair!!! I constantly get compliments on my hair. He was very cool, calm, and informative. He broke down the complete process, which made me feel very comfortable.; worth every penny I definitely will be back... So do your self a favor and go to Gabriel Shimunov salon! Trust me, it's worth it!

I was happy to find out a salon was open on a Sunday and that I got lucky enough to have Susan cut and color my hair. I got my hair cut and colored by Susan and she did a wonderful job. I asked for an ash blonde balayage and that's exactly what I got. She is very knowledgeable and skilled in what she does. Susan takes pride in her work and the results show it! I've gotten so many compliments on my hair from friends and coworkers too. This salon in Midtown, Manhattan is in a good location. If someone has to wait for you, they can go to a restaurant, bar or coffee spot around the neighborhood. I'll definitely be going back to Susan for haircuts and coloring!

Highly recommend Gabriel Shimunov Salon!!! My stylist David is so talented at what he does! I went to him for the first time recently for a cut and and partial highlights and was so happy with the result! David has such a good personality and works hard to make sure that you love what your hair looks like when it's done. The salon itself is so beautiful and has such a fun, welcoming vibe! Will definetly be returning in the near future! I was recommended by a friend and am forever grateful.

While my stylist was nice and talkative, she was definitely NOT able to deliver the haircut I wanted. I showed her a video of the cut I wanted (see attached screenshot) and the cut she gave me (next photo) was far from what I asked for. Rosa cut my face framing layers wayyy too short and not in the style I wanted, despite her making comments at the start of my appointment about other stylists who cut their clients hair way too short and promised to keep my length, but then she ended up doing the same exact thing to me! I definitely do not think this is worth a $150 haircut. It’s going to take me months to grow my hair out to the length I want. From the beginning, I HAD the length available to achieve the cut I wanted, which Rosa was unable to do. On top of that, they don’t even perform the Brazilian Blowout treatment correctly! After they applied the product, they blow dried my hair straight and then flat ironed it. After that, they were supposed to rinse out the product immediately and then apply a bonding spray and finish styling which they completely skipped. I called the official Brazilian Blowout company to confirm this and they sent me a PDF of all the steps in their Brazilian Blowout process (please see attached.) After I explained to them what Gabriel Shimunov’s hair salon did instead, she was shocked that they would let me leave the salon in the middle of my treatment (literally) without finishing it and advised me to rinse immediately in the shower myself rather than leave the product in my hair for 3 days like the salon suggested I do, which is dangerous to myself, babies or pets when I have literal formaldehyde unrinsed in my hair for 3 days straight! That comment came straight from the Brazilian Blowout company themselves. This also could’ve resulted in the BB treatment not lasting as long and leaving my hair with a lot of buildup, heaviness and greasiness. For the price you pay at this salon, I really expected better quality service which I did not receive in EITHER of the treatments I got. Look somewhere else!
