Absolutely TERRIBLE. I made my appointment, it was confirmed. Day of, I get a text and email saying it was canceled?? I called, and had it confirmed over the phone again. I show up, and I get told that “Gala” the hairstylist that was supposed to work on me, left for the day an HOUR AGO!! I call her, I leave voicemails, I text her, I wait at the salon for half an hour, and nothing. No explanation, no response, no anything. It’s two days later, and I’m still baffled at the unprofessionalism. I genuinely have no idea how this place has 5 stars.

Excellent haircut! She takes the time to make sure an individual receives the best style and the best haircut! I don’t live in KC but am so glad I found Gala’s, and I would highly recommend that if you don’t live downtown that you take the extra time to drive and have her cut your hair!

Great job on the fade, a nice tidy trim on the top, and some advice to take away, too. Stop using cheap elastics; you're breaking your hair! Amazing! Nice conversation, talked about kids, then told me I look 12 years younger than I am... a friendly atmosphere. Even offered me a cold drink while waiting. Kansas City should be proud of this little gem. Paid about $40 for a cut with no beard.

I chose Gala's based on reviews. My hair was quite long and unkempt. Gala asked how I wanted it cut. I gave her my usual song and dance about how I liked it left long in back, shorter in front, tapered on the sides, all without looking like a mullet. She asked if I wanted it over my ears or not. I said over. She started muttering something like, "long in back he says, short in front he says, tapered, over ears, he doesn't know what he wants, what am I supposed to do with that..." She then started whipping electric clippers and combs around like a gunslinger and in short order there was enough hair on the floor to weave a rug. She gave me the best haircut I've ever had! Now 4 weeks later it is still amazingly easy to style, looks great all day, and even looks good when I wake up first thing in the morning.

Gala is just amazing!! I am super picky and she is so detailed and does a layered cut the RIGHT way-she focuses on you and takes time to make sure the layers are accurate and fall correctly and cuts damp then a dry finish. Also she makes sure you are level the entire time. She also cleans you off completely and makes sure you don’t have any hairs anywhere on your face, collar, clothing. I always look for hairdressers who finish the job completely and don’t send you out looking like a Sasquatch with stray hairs on your face! If you have fine and curly hair that needs special attention she is the best.

This is the best place in downtown for haircut. I recently moved here and was planning to test out few hair saloons before settling to one. I went to this place first and have been going here since, no need to look for any other place. Gala is amazing at what she does. She takes her time and and makes sure you are satisfied with your cut. The price is very reasonable as well. They are appointment based so make sure to book ahead.

OMG I have lived downtown Kansas City for 3 years and hadn’t had a good haircut until I found Gala at Gala’s. Last week I had the most awesome haircut ever. I was so thrilled with it that I returned to Gala today for hair coloring. And OMG again a totally magnificent job was performed on my hair. I cannot begin to express my absolute gratitude for a spectacular haircut and hair coloring and the best customer service ever. I highly recommend Gala’s Hair Quarters to everyone!!!! Garrett is amazing! I have never been so happy with my hair. I love that he cuts my hair to look good styled with product or without doing anything to it. I am always incredibly happy with his work. Garrett and the rest of the staff at Gala's Hair Quarters are always friendly and fun to be around. I am always offered a beverage (soda, beer, or wine) and made to feel extra special! Also a great place to get your shoes shined! I definitely recommend Garrett and Gala's Hair Quarters to everyone. Anything you need can be done there.

I saw Garrett (a new stylist) at Gala and have gone back four times. He provides a high quality haircut and is always punctual. This is great because I can drop in during my business day in downtown KC and get my hair cut. Highly recommend you trying Garrett out!!!

I went and saw Garrett, who did balayage FLAWLESSLY on my hair! He made sure I was comfortable and happy throughout the whole process and took the time to be detailed not just with the color but toner and cut as well. He seemed very intuitive as to what would look best on me! I was very impressed with his work and would definitely recommend him as a colorist and stylist!

This salon is a hidden gem, tucked away in the Commerce Building of downtown KC! The energy is always upbeat and positive, rather than gossipy or tense. It is truly an oasis. I typically see Garrett for cut/trim and/or color services. He is an absolute superstar with those shears. He has the steady hands and precision of a neurosurgeon. Before we color, he always takes the time for a thorough consultation where he actually takes my hair in his hands, walks around to look at it from all angles and then properly manages my expectations as to the end result. He uses high-quality products for his color service, which make a huge difference for regular maintenance - even after intense coloring, my hair felt healthy even after the first wash. It should also be noted that he demands perfection of himself and his services certainly reflect it. In addition to the quality of his service, he doesn't overbook his chair so you aren't left under a dryer or awkwardly waiting in foils unattended. His full attention is on me and the service from the time I walk in to the time I grab my coat. Even before the outbreak, his work space was always very clean (free of product residue or water spots) and clearly put extra effort into presenting a spotless station which is of utmost importance to me in current times.

Gala's hair quarter is the best, I've been going there for over five years. Not only do you get a great haircut at a great price, but there are cold beverages in the fridge, and you have a great person cutting your hair. I cannot say enough good things about this place, and I would never think of going anywhere else. Parking is free in the garage on at the Commerce Bank Building Garage at 1007 Main, just ask Gala for a voucher. It's extremely convenient and they are flexible on hours.
