I moved here from northern Virginia and have been looking for a good hair stylist for a year and a half. Today I went to Christopher and finally found someone who knows how to both cut AND style short hair. This will definitely be my salon from now on!

Gary Allens is the best. To me, it's "Christopher's" , as he's the only one I know there. Not said in any sort of Diminishment of the main man there, Gary Allen Himself. He's an amazing stylist and I usually take my son and myself there.

Christopher did my mother’s hair and made her feel like a princess… she’s 87! This is the nicest hair salon in VB..my mother can’t wait to come back for a visit and get her her done again! Thank you for making her feel so special & she also looks great! 👍🏻👍🏻

DO NOT APPLY HERE THE OWNERS ARE RUDE THEY DONT SPEAK TO THEIR EMPLOYEES & THEY ALLOW THEIR CUSTOMERS TO TALK TO YOU ANY KIND OF WAY . THE STYLIST ARE RUDE AND YELL AT THE FRONT DESK EMPLOYEES ALL THE TIME . THE MANAGER IS LAZY AND RUDE SHE DONT STAND UP FOR HER STAFF . THE WORST HOSTILE JOB IVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!! I TRULY BELIEVE ITS BECAUSE IM BLACK.

I have been going to Gary Allen Hair and Skin Care salon for over 10 years. This salon is OUTSTANDING! My mom also gets her hair done here and loves it. It does not matter what stylist you choose, they are all qualified, talented and amazing! Additionally, this is a high-end salon that is reasonably priced and does not take advantage of the customers. Many other salons inflate the price by saying a service is '$XX.XX and up' and they charge you the highest price possible...not at Gary Allen. They are fair and reasonable with their prices, especially for the great service they provide. The nice head massage you get during your shampoo is an amazing plus! Looking at you Garrett! Although all the stylist are phenomenal, these are some of my favorites: Tiffany, Katy, Dana, Alexis, Christopher and Tim. Thank you!

I have been going to Gary Allen’s for years. Jamie has been my stylist for the same amount of time and he is the best. Fabulous haircut, I love my color and he is fast which I appreciate. Very well run shop, large staff and everyone is friendly and kind.

Katy was excellent because she asked many questions about my hair. I loved how she wanted to know how soon I wanted to come back so she knew how intense to highlight my hair. She also didn’t pressure me to buy expensive shampoo/ conditioner to moisturize my hair. She instead introduced me to a fair price shampoo/ conditioner to use. I appreciate that! She got it right the first time. I’ve been to other hair stylist and paid A load of money and didnt Get what I wanted, which is really bad service! So thank you Katy for paying attention to me and my Hair and being So kind and making A video of the before and after You’re so awesome! I will stick with you for sure! I also love the hair cut you gave my daughter! Keep up the great work you do!!!!

The folks at Gary Allen are friendly, polite and punctual. I hate waiting when I ha e an appointment and I was in an out and left looking great! Their products are high quality and the interior is kept neet and clean. I LOVE my new hair color and cut!

Yaaaaaaaaas Gary Allen Salon!! From the receptionist who knew which stylist would work for my needs, to the gentleman who washed & massaged my head gloriously (which In my opinion wished it wouldve lasted longer it felt so good) to the stylist Christopher James who listened to my goal and did an amazing job cutting my hair!! I was very nervous, as I've had so many bad experiences elsewhere. I'm so glad I decided to go to Gary Allen Salon, even though it's alittle out of my budget, and i didnt get the whispy longer pieces i wanted in the back, the "experience" was well worth it!! THANK YOU. CHRISTOPHER JAMES, for listening to me, being so nice and fulfilling most of my goal. I'm still soooooo happy with my hair overall and will definitely be recommending you to anybody that will listen!! I look forward to my next visit.

Fabulous. I needed a haircut as it was too long for the hot weather. Gary Allen was recommended to me and Alexis was my stylist. She listened to everything I wanted with my length and layers and my hair feels so much better. I’ll definitely return for my next cut!

I first came to Gary Allen right before the pandemic in 2020, and had Katy cut off over a foot of my hair into a pixie cut for the first time in my life. And WOW!! I’m so glad I trusted her with such a huge change. I’ve never let another stylist touch me since. I’ve been coming back every few months since then to try out new styles. Katy is so wonderful to work with; I’ll show her a cut I want and she makes it work for my face and hair type so well. I haven’t had a bad hair day yet! I’ll be moving across the country soon, but every time I visit home I’ll be seeing Katy again to see her work her magic! 6/5 stars!

I had a haircut and color appointment with Katy today. After she was able to get me in very last minute, I appreciated the time and care she took with coloring my hair and then the attention to detail with cutting. I will be a repeat customer with Katy and would recommend her to anyone!

I have been getting my hair taken care of at Gary Allen since I was a little girl. I have always loved this salon! I have recently been seeing Katy and she is WONDERFUL! I decided to dye my hair pink during lockdown, and she has been taking care of my hair ever since. Katy even rescued my hair when I waited way too long between visits. This last time, we tried a different shad of pink. Everyone is loving my new hair color! I was recently in my brother's wedding, and my new SIL was especially happy it was toned down for the wedding. I got so many compliments on my hair! I also enjoy chatting with Katy during my visits. I highly recommend her!

So I have very mixed feelings about my experience here. I called in to make an appointment and I asked if I could come in to get the stylist to look at my hair the day before the appointment. I showed her my hair and what I wanted she said cool I got you. So I come in the next day and we got halfway through the appointment and was told we were running out of time. I said hey cool I can come back. We ended okay a solid color which she did a great job with but I had said expressly I didn’t want. Everyone had been super sweet and nice to talk to. Enjoyed the people and the environment in the time I was there. I was trying to not make anyone feel like the stylist didn’t do a great job she did but at the end of the day it was nothing like I wanted and there wasn’t a lot of communication. Ultimately we decide to try again. She said she would squeeze me in another day. To sum up she had over booked herself and I spent probably about 5 hours in the chair and ended up with four highlights. I said again this wasn’t what I wanted and she said she’d get back to be to schedule another appointment and just never got back to me. Everyone was so complimenting during the experience and nice. My issue is communication. I was told it was possible and she was happy to do it. I did my best to be kind and patient and was always happy to come back in. If there was any issues I was never told. Now I’ve spent time and money and I have to start over with some new at a new place.

So let me start off by saying a friend of mine referred me to this place to get my haircut told me to ask for a guy named Christopher to do my hair because I’m very picky at how I wear my hair when I get it cut short He knew exactly how to cut my hair and cut it perfect!! and I absolutely love my hair I feel beautiful I look gorgeous and I love the cut.. I will definitely be coming backTHANk YOU Christopher it is so glad to know that I have a Very professional hairstylist right down the street from me!!!! Ladies if you want a very professional hairdresser to cut your hair go see Christopher he is awesome!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰

So my Mom went here a few days ago to get her hair done as we prepared for my grandmother's funeral... I have to say that it was one of the rare times this week that she had a smile when she came out. They took care of her and she talked so highly about them and is looking forward to going back to them again. To Mr. Allen and your staff, thank you so much for taking such great care of my mom.

I had my hair cut, shampooed and blow-dried by Katy today! She did an awesome job and I so happy with my hair! She was professional and friendly! I would highly recommend Katy at Gary Allen Salon! The entire staff was wonderful!

I recently moved to the area and looking for a stylist and thought I could find one here. I had some white hair and in need of color and wanted more highlights using the balayage technique (I’m a brunette with waist length hair). During the consultation we decided to go “cooler”with my hair tone. Five hours later I had very warm roots with a band of red about 3” from the roots, and cool toned highlights. I had to come back to fix my hair color. This was an annoyance, but I needed it fixed. On my second visit I became agitated when the stylist kept repeating that color doesn’t lift color. I understand this. That’s why my roots were so warm and I had a red band. I guess it was my fault for assuming that a cooler tone meant that all of my hair would match the highlights and Not go from warm to cool. She then said that it was because of my white hair - I had strands of white, not a band of white hair. I ended up matching my hair with a toner that was better suited. She told me she has been a stylist for 13 years. The customer service was terrible and after spending $300 I expected to be happy with my experience.

You can always expect a great cut and exemplary service from the stylists and staff at Gary Allen Salon! I've been a regularly for 30 years, things have definitely changed through that time but the consistency of style (cutting edge if you want it), service, and a knowledgeable staff has never changed. Bravo!
