I loved my experience. Called and (luckily) was able to get in that day. Summer gave me some layers and helped shaped my hair. Next time I'll do a before and after but wow, summer saved the day. Thank you summer, thank you Gilded Opal!

Summer was amazing. I needed a quick trim of my dyed hair, and it was great. As a nonbinary person, I felt the haircut perfectly matched my style, and as a power chair user, I felt totally accommodated, including masks n Setting up the space so I didn't feel like I was a burden. Curls are popping, and the conversation was fantastic and not overwhelming/ intrusive. Definitely recommend!

MAKIN WAVES WITH ALICIA!!!!! THIS hair goddess literally has transformed me. She has not only given me the best haircut for my hair type which is coarse wavy hair, but she's taught me a lot about how to take care of my course wavy hair and I don't hate it anymore. Before I met Alicia I was lost. I had super overgrown hair and it was almost mid back length very thick and needed to be cut badly. She gave me the exact cut that I wanted 2 months ago which is still growing out to be beautiful. I have loved every phase of this haircut and every phase of it has worked for me. She really knows what she's doing. We removed a bunch of pink hair dye and we took my brassy color straight to blonde in one session after waiting a few weeks from the haircut. I am so in love with her work there is just no words. I can never see anybody else again for my hair because I'm sold. I live in Los Angeles California and plan to be flying to Portland Oregon as long as I need to to see Alicia at the salon. Alicia has taught me a lot about hair and helped me achieve my goals and also made things work for my schedule even though I travel and I have a wild schedule she still was able to get me in for one appointment for hair extensions at the end of the hair transformation and those as well came out absolutely beautiful. I literally cannot tell what my real hair is and what is the extensions because they are blended so well. Alicia's so much fun to be around and really knows how to entertain you while you're sitting there. I can't wait to be back! This salon is made up of beautiful people who are creative, you cannot go wrong picking anyone but if you have fluffy thick wavy hair that needs help, Alicia is the one! Love you!!!!

I just moved to the area and got my hair done by Sierra who literally worked magic on my hair! She is such a creative, talented and fun person- not only did I leave with gorgeous hair, but it was fun being at the salon! I am extremely picky with my hair, but after doing research, I found Sierra and I am so grateful that I did! Not only does she have lot of experience, she also offers hair tinseling which is so cute and fun! What can't Sierra do? If you are a blonde looking for a refresh, look no further!!!!!! My daughter has curly hair and had her first haircut with Summer at Gilded Opal! Summer was amazing, patient and so knowledgeable on curl care. My daughter had some sensory issues, and Summer adapted quickly to help my daughter feel as comfortable as possible. Thank you for creating such a wonderful and positive experience, Summer. Carol is truly someone special among curly hair specialists. I had just about given up on finding someone who understands my hair, now I can never leave. I always walk out of our appointments looking my absolute best. She listens, really listens. She knows not every curl is the same, and she knows that as the person who has lived with that hair, perhaps you've learned a thing or two. She is also just a gem of a person and I always enjoy our time spent together.

Carole gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had and now I won’t go anywhere else. I was so excited when she told me she specializes in curly hair and that was no joke - she knows what she’s doing. In addition to the killer haircut I also had a great time being in her chair. Total sweetheart and hilarious.

Carole is absolutely amazing and is the first hairstylist to actually understand my hair. I was lucky enough to stumble upon her at a previous hair salon over 5 years ago and have followed her ever since! I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair as Carole is my hair genie! Her years of experience and excellent knowledge is very apparent her in work and I am always referring all my friends to her. Finding Carole was like finding the perfect fitting jeans or little black dress; one-of-a-kind and a true treasure!

Carole is an absolutely darling person and she does a great job with hair. She’s kind, positive, warm, professional, and darn good at all aspects of her job. She’s been cutting my hair for 4 years. She pays attention to how you want your hair to look, how much time you want to spend styling it on a day to day basis, then makes great suggestions. And she’s phenomenal with color!

I’ve been going to Britta L. for the last two years. My sister goes to her now. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone in the Portland area that has hair on their head. She recently made the move from Rudy’s barbershop down the street. I much prefer this salon, it has an extremely cozy welcoming vibe and is decorated beautifully with care. Britta fits in perfectly here and I’m always excited to see her bright smile when I arrive. ALMOST as excited as I am when she finishes working her magic 🪄

I’ve been going to Gilded Opal for a few years and Carole is my current stylist. She’s a rare find in that she understands the interplay of hair thickness and growth patterns and how these contribute to what will styles work and which ones won’t. She makes great recommendations and is genuinely friendly, caring, and funny. I’m to the point now where I tell her what I’m looking for and let her get after it in her way and style and I always like what she does!

Made an appointment here since it’s the closest salon to me, but thank god I did because I haven’t had a haircut that made me feel this good in years! I worked with Mat who was able to remove extra weight and damaged ends from my coarse wavy hair and it feels healthier and super bouncy :) the product line they use here is high quality and smells amazing so I’ll probably have to go back and buy some soon! Highly recommend this place

I had a great experience with Scarlett Rasor at Gilded Opal, she's fantastic! I had dyed my hair with drugstore box dye, and she did a gorgeous color correction with root pull and highlights -- it looks so lovely and natural. My hair looks and feels healthy after the coloring, she uses quality products and takes great care of your hair. She also did a great job cutting my naturally curly hair and blending in my awkward, partially grown-out bangs. Overall great experience and great value!

I walked into this salon after moving here 6 years ago and Amie blonded and cut my hair, and I’ve been coming back ever since. It’s so comforting knowing and trusting your stylist to always do a great job. I honestly leave every time feeling glamorous with how good my hair looks. Mat gave me a sleek '40s cut with perfect accents. The lines are sharp, the fade is on-point, and the length on top is perfect for my hair type. Short cuts on women can be tricky, but this guy gets it! I love my cut and will be going back to Mat. Plus, the location is great (so many restaurants!) and the salon is super cute. Definitely check out the local artist jewelry for sale by the front desk.

Tarah is absolutely magical. I literally showed her a picture and said go for it and she gave me a haircut better than I could have imagined! She's the most solid hairdresser I've been to since living in PDX and nows she's my go-to!
