This was my second time going to the salon. They did my hair one size and price on my first visit but did not give that same price for the exact same style and size on this second visit. I went ahead and got my hair done anyways because I didn’t have any other option plus I drove over 30 minutes to get there but I am 5 days into having my small box braids in and I have had 3 slip out already!!! Highly disappointed! I will not be returning here. I paid over $300 and they’re falling out of my head on day 5!!! The first set of braids I got last for 9 weeks…. You should never pay at that price point and have your braids falling out. IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN and my hair was free of all products prior to having the style completed. By the way the first time the process was painless this time around my head was killing me and again all to have my braids fall out on day 5!!!! All it takes is 1 bad experience for me and I’m done, I work too hard to waste my money

Absolutely terrible experience. Me and my girlfriend go on vacation on Wednesday and she has had an appointment scheduled for over a week. Upon arrival we are told that they do not have the correct hair we had already requested and that we can go buy the hair ourselves and come back. Since now we have to go find and buy the hair, we ask for a discount for the inconvenience. They refuse and tell us that we would have had to pay extra for that type of hair anyways which was never disclosed and is not disclosed anywhere on their booksy. The length is the one thing they mention. They never even apologized for what happened and now we are struggling to squeeze in an appointment elsewhere.

Got my briads done on 12/28 and they are amazing! This is my first time getting boho knotless and I swear I’m only coming here now. They started my appointment on time and showed me pictures of exactly what I asked for before paying for the human hair. Very professional! My hair is amazing plus I had amazing conversation and everyone seemed genuinely happy including the clients. All the styles that walked out looked amazing. 10000/10 I will be a customer for life. Honestly just terrible customer service and very rude. It’s not difficult and doesn’t cost anything to treat people with respect. They put me through a huge inconvenience and then never apologized and pretty much just said it is what it is. They need to disclose the different prices for requesting different hair.

If I could rate no stars I would!!! Terrible customer service and communication. I booked the flip over boho braids almost 3 weeks in advance and upon arriving to the hair shop for my appointment and checking in I was told they did not have the proper hair for the boho pieces!! I told them that this appointment had been booked well in advance so how is that possible?? No explanation other than “we just don’t have it”. I was then told that I could go buy the hair and they could still do the style and in turn I asked if they could come down from the original price because of the inconvenience, and for the simple fact that i’m now having to provide the hair. The lady then said “well you were going to have to pay extra anyways because the boho/curly pieces aren’t included in the price.” Now based on their booking site “Booksy” the price was all inclusive besides the add on prices for braid lengths. I never mind paying for what I book for but you’re absolutely not going to hit me over the head with made up prices that aren’t listed on the website. There was absolutely no where on their booking site that listed add on prices for boho/curly pieces. At that point I knew they weren’t touching my head and left. There was no sense of empathy and she was not in any way apologetic. In fact for half of our interaction she had the phone up to her ear talking to someone else. It all just screamed “IDC, it is what it is”. Very unprofessional and would not recommend anyone spending their time or hard earned money at this establishment.

10/10 braiding experience! Amina started me off and a couple other ladies finished me off and they were very sweet and welcoming! My hair is neat, full, and exactly how I wanted it! I would recommend this place to everyone looking for a braiding salon in clt! These ladies are IT!🤍

I recently visited Givens Hair Studio and had a fantastic experience! I called ahead and was pleasantly surprised to be accommodated as a same-day walk-in. The lady on the phone was very professional, setting a positive tone for my visit. Upon arrival, I found ample free parking, which was a huge plus, and the location felt very safe. The salon itself was beautiful and had a welcoming atmosphere, with friendly and professional staff at the front desk. I had Amina and Chance as my braiders, and they were wonderful! They listened to exactly what I wanted for my boho knotless braids, ensuring my parts were all the same size. I was impressed with their attention to detail and the quality of their work. Plus, I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, I highly recommend Givens Hair Studio and will definitely be returning for my future hair needs!

My braids were done beautifully, but they are definitely not knotless. They are definitely knotted braids. I think a majority of the African braiding salons don’t really know how to do knotless and instead of saying they don’t they tell you they do! It’s actually really simple to look up a video on YouTube to learn I did! I just wish I could do it for myself. Hopefully they will also catch on.

I got small medium knotless. Melina & antha braided my hair and baby... they came out soo pretty.! They did an amazing job and it only took. Them about 4 hrs. I will definetly be back!

*Disappointing Experience at Givens Braiding in Charlotte, NC* I've always been a fan of Givens Braiding, having visited the Concord, NC location over 20 times with only one bad experience. However, my first visit to the Charlotte, NC location was a letdown. I arrived at 8:30 AM for my appointment, excited to see the beautiful salon. The front desk staff informed me that the braiders were running late, which was understandable. I had previously requested to finish my appointment by 2:30 PM, and the staff assured me it was possible. However, I was sent to the back at 9:00 AM, and no one started my hair until after 10:00 AM. Two ladies examined my hair between 9:00 and 10:00 AM, leading me to believe they would start braiding, but they didn't. When I expressed my concerns to the person left in charge not the manger. I requested a 10% discount due to the delay and poor communication. She refused and argued with me about unrelated issues. Despite the beautiful end result, I was disappointed with the customer service and communication. I will not return to this location and will stick with the Concord location. - Improve communication among staff - Increase transparency about wait times and appointment schedules - Provide better customer service and address customer concerns respectfully

-these are not true knotless braids they still have a ball. True Knotless don’t have a ball at the route. Please practice more and perfect this skill. -braids extremely tight. I’ve never had knotless hurt after being done. -wouldn’t recommend them blow drying hair too rough! Do not comb from root to tip, it’s tip to root to eliminate breakage. Not too satisfied here, I’d pass.

This is my second time getting my hair braided at this salon, and once again it was a good experiance. Everyone was friendly and the braider worked with me to match the hair she had to the curly bits I had with me. I'm very happy with how it came out!

I LOVED my experience at Givens Hair Studio!!! First of all, I came in the shop and left 5 hours later, and given my style (see pictures), that’s SO FAST!! I made an appointment with Melanie, who was so kind and very welcoming. When I called, she helped set me up with an appointment so easily. I loved how there is ample parking in the garage, my wait time was < 3 minutes, and the atmosphere amongst the stylists and clients was really easy and comfortable. Side note, the studio is gorgeous. I loved how high the ceilings were in the building, it didn’t feel like a cramped salon at all. Most importantly… the customer service and the actual style itself!! Besides how quickly both Melanie and Meta got my hair done, they were so nice, their work was extremely clean, and by the time I left, I couldn’t stop looking in the mirror!! Still can’t LOL I love my hair so much. Thank you to Givens Hair Studio for a great experience! I just moved to the area, and am so happy to say I definitely found my new braiding salon!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. THEY ARE HIGHLY DECEPTIVE!!!!!! We've been here before. First time? Great experience. This time? straight up nightmare. They are horrible communicators. The lady who picks up the phone told me one thing, in the store they told me something totally different. I was told on the phone they didn't do knotless braids with human hair, in the store they told me they did, only to find out they only use human hair for the curly part of the hair. Again, poor poor communicators. It didn't end there. I get here and my daughter still has a lot of hair left to go. I dropped her off at 11:00am, it is currently 5:37pm. I have a meeting in 30 minutes I'm going to miss because of this. Oh and it doesn't end there...after I expressed my frustration the manager looked at me up and down and said you have to pay now. I said no I pay after the hair is done, she said no it's the policy you must pay before service. She says what are you paying with, I say I'm paying cash. She goes to get the sign where the company policy is written and it clearly states that payment is due AFTER a quarter of service has been completed. Pretty much when they're almost finished with the hair. I said ma'am what you just told me doesn't match up with what it states on that paper. She said the hair is almost done. I said no you told me that I was supposed to pay in full before service. She said no that's not what I said. I said ma'am everyone in here heard you. Mind you she was still arguing with my cash in her hand. Horrendous service. $415 for a horrendous place. I will NOT be returning. These people are awful.

This is my 3rd time here. The first time I came is was great Melanie did my hair (so ask for her or see if she’s working). However, it seems like the only perform up to par if your getting BOHO braids which range from ($285+ *does not include the curly hair - add on another $100+). Since January idk what has been going on with this place. Never consistent work. This time they didn’t have the color (1b or 2) I wanted. Only 1 (which some woman got VERY sassy when she said this “I ONLY HAVE ONE” & she wasn’t even doing my hair.) Whose hair is a color 1 in real life? Very annoying. This time is the final straw, my parts are LARGE/ XL when the braids are smedium boneless at best. Left edges out and didn’t style them for me or even offer to. My part isn’t even in the middle of my head. It’s giving smiddle. This experience was terrible today and I should’ve just left when they didn’t have the hair color that I wanted. This hair is supposed to be for wedding but honestly, I’ll probably take it out. It looks THAT bad.

I really hate to leave bad reviews, so this is more of feedback as a hairstylist myself . I booked my appointment a month in advance. I called to confirm they had the color hair I wanted a week before my appointment. I was told yes but it would be extra if I wanted human hair. My appointment was at 8:30 am I arrived at 8:15am. I was then told the braider I booked with was not there and I needed to go to the hair store to get my own hair. It was a Sunday so hair store did not open until 10am. I came back at 11am my hair did not get started until 12pm .I was charged the same price $287 even after purchasing my own hair which does not add up if I was to get natural colored hair from them. I end up spending way more because the hair was not provided after being told otherwise. I was told they couldn’t do triangle parts because hair too short(I had them before). Then two girls had an attitude about doing my hair. They spoke in their language and would laugh or have an attitude. It was just very uncomfortable. My hair turn out ok, but it is not knotless and the parts look like rectangles. I did not leave the shop until 10pm. Please just work on your customer service when it comes to running a business. With clear details on your booking site.

They be having attitudes like they don’t want to do your hair. Took forever on my hair they kept blaming it on them being busy when really they’re SLOW! they kept stopping, talking, singing…etc. she even stopped to go get food because we’ve been there literally all day ! i asked was someone else going to finish my hair they told me no i had to wait til she got back from getting food. the person beside me had two braiders doing their hair & they knew one of them could’ve stopped & came over to finish mine, but instead i had to wait! i was ok with the woman taking a break but somebody else should’ve been finishing my hair. like what’s the point of them having multiple workers ?? This was not ok especially if i am paying you for a service. it’s been a week & all the human curly pieces they put in which was an additional charge have fallen out since the appt! i don’t wanna go back at all. so it was just a L i took.

This is my first and last visit to this salon. I made an appointment for 11:AM for boho waist length knotless braids. I was told by the owner it would take a maximum 4 hours to complete. I got there at 10:59AM, however no one was available to start my appointment until 12:05PM. Half way through the appointment I noticed that my "knotless" braids were looking more like box braids, because I could feel and see knots at the root of the braids. When I brought this to my braiders attention, she said "no, it's knotless." At this point, I just wanted to be out of there. My 4 hour appointment turned into 7 hours! I did not leave that salon until 6:38 PM. This is just unprofessional.
