If you’re a Hijabi looking for a women-friendly and hijab-friendly salon in Austin, look no further! I had an amazing experience at this salon, and it’s hands down the best haircut I’ve had in years. Shah, my stylist, was absolutely incredible. She was sweet, knowledgeable, and really took the time to understand exactly what I wanted. Not only did she deliver on my vision, but she went above and beyond, offering helpful tips on how to properly shampoo and condition my hair. The salon itself is beautiful, clean, and private, making it a perfect environment for women who prioritize comfort and modesty. Shah made the entire experience so enjoyable—I felt at ease and well taken care of. This is officially my go-to salon in Austin, and I can’t recommend it enough!

I have been going to this salon for almost 3 years now and not one time have I had a an issue going there. Shai is sooo sweet! I couldn’t count how many times she restored/saved my hair! Thank you Shai!!❤️❤️❤️ seriously it was so hard for me to find a salon that is hijabi friendly. Everytime I have an appointment she makes sure the doors are locked and no one can come in. She sits me down and the very first thing she asks if I have a concerns about my hair. We talk through what I want to get done. The salon is ALWAYS CLEAN and smells so amazing! Shai really makes me feel welcomed. Never Ever a dull moment with her! Don’t even get me started on the prices! SUPER AFFORDABLE! I am sooo glad I came here! The girls that work here are amazing and really know what they're doing! A hairstylist who understands what you have in mind, who may have their own insights and suggestions to give, but that ultimately deliver what you asked for. If you know, you know. That's gold when it comes to hairstylists. I've been their client for a number of years now, and that's my experience there, always. Excellent service!

Very unprofessional & uneducated with ZERO customer service!! They gave me a final price after completing their "consultation" but kept increasing the price every 2 minutes (to $400+) for a hair color. When asked why they had to raise the fee from the initial amount, instead of answering my question or addressing my concerns; they refused to serve, asked me to leave and started hurling racist slurs and insults at me (I guess they have some kinda beef with the people of Pakistan). I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone with their below par hair products and absolutely disgusting customer service.

I recently visited Gloss and Toss hair salon and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the twin sisters that run the salon, Shai and Shah from Afghanistan. What truly stood out was their expertise in understanding not just hair but my hair specifically. They took the time to assess my hair type, texture, and personal style before suggesting a suitable hair color and cut. Their attention to detail and knowledge of current trends ensured that I left satisfied with my new look. It was refreshing to find a salon that values affordability without compromising on excellence. Moreover, the level of client service was outstanding. They went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout the appointment.

I went in today after months of growing out my butchered haircut from a different salon. As I walked in, I was greeted friendly and immediately attended to. Shah was so sweet and easy to converse with from the getgo. She validated my concerns and expressed her professional opinion on my hair situation. She rectified what she could meanwhile leaving me with a gorgeous cut. She also explained exactly what my hair needs and why. I’ve never had a stylist analyze my hair and give me a detailed routine/haircare specific to me. Shah is the epitome of a hair professional. She rocks those scissors and deserves more than five stars. I am in love with my haircut. She truly made me feel like a goddess! 🤩 I highly recommend this lovely salon 🫶

Shah was absolutely amazing and super sweet! My haircut was exactly how I wanted it and turned out so good! They washed my hair at the salon and styled it as well all included in the signature cut. This place is hijabi friendly run by two sweet Muslim twin sisters. I had a great experience here and will be coming back!

There’s no where else I’d rather go! I have curly hair and most people charge triple prices to cut it- Shai knows what I need every time. She’s great about taking inspiration pics and tweaking them to fit your face. She’s also just the best to talk to while you’re in the chair - she really cares about her clients. I struggle with mental health issues and Shai never makes me feel guilty for coming in with mats or extra messy/dirty hair. She is so gentle and kind when taking care of her clients. Not only are their cuts great- but styling and color amazing too! When i first came I had grown out blue hair and in ONE SETTING Shai was able to restore my natural hair color. They’re also hijab friendly!! No men can see into the salon and it always feels like a peaceful oasis when I go in :) love it here and highly recommend.

Was denied a haircut for identifying as a man. I don’t understand how gender can be used to discriminate with services, especially since there is no difference between a woman’s hair and a man’s; i was just looking for a simple trim too, so it was especially disconcerting to be denied solely on the basis of gender.

I don't think I can go to another hair place again! The stylists at gloss and toss are so expert, I've brought more of my family members and even their hair cuts and dyes have been absolutely perfect. Not to mention how kind and fun Shah and Shai are. They're also extremely hijabi friendly. No one will see you under their watch. As a fellow hijabi, its so relaxing. Plus the salon is decorated very cutely. Bonus!

I've been going to Shah for the past couple years, my hair was so thin and unable to grow very long when I first saw her and now my hair is much healthier and long, every highlight/ lowlight she's given turns out perfect she clearly knows what she's doing and the salon is so well put together HIGHLY recommended:)

Shah was such a great stylist!! Was the best experience I’ve ever had at a salon. The vibe inside was very cute and inviting, and they accommodate hijabis as well (all female staff and close the doors with privacy). Shah was very friendly and sweet and she was able to handle thick/wavy hair. Would definitely recommend!

I absolutely loved it here! I was worried that my first experience dying my hair wouldn’t go as expected but both the stylist was so nice and fun and my hair turned out exactly as I wanted it! It’s a little pricey but totally worth it for a once in a while treat.
