Everyone is very friendly. The receptionist always offers me a drink. The salon is very clean. With the salon under new ownership, I noticed the bathrooms now have hand towel and not paper towels, which was a very nice addition. Josh cuts all our family’s hair and does an exceptional job! We also had to change our baby’s diaper while there and they were very accommodating giving us a place to change it.

I've been getting my hair cut by Marita for about three years now and I cannot say enough about just how wonderful she is!!!! I have very long + thick hair, as well as scalp Psoriasis. Before seeing Marita for the first time, I hadn't gotten my hair cut or touched by a professional in about 6 years due to anxiety and previously bad experiences with other hair stylists around my Psoriasis. I told Marita immediately about my insecurities around my hair and Psoriasis and she IMMEDIATELYYYY put me at ease and made me feel super safe and comfortable in her chair. She made it clear that she understood my concerns and was empathetic to my feelings. Since then, Marita's been the only person I trust with my hair and scalp. She totally understands my visions of what I want for my hair when I come in and has always gone above any beyond to show me ways to style and treat my hair to get it to look it's best at home on my own. My hair is my security blanket and Marita has ALWAYS made me feel beautiful. **Also want to mention just how lovely the front desk staff are. All of them are just the sweetest, most accommodating, and welcoming people! I just really appreciate all of the staff that I've experienced at G+A!!

First of all, hi I was a tourist to PDX. I love getting haircuts in new cities, and was I in for a treat at G+A. I was welcomed in wholeheartedly by who I later learned was the owner/manager. She instantly made me feel comfortable and invited in. I wanted to work with someone familiar with cutting Asian hair and could do a punky cut, to which she recommended Joshua. He was impeccable and honest, very thorough and I loved the entire session. Phenomenal hospitality, amazing service and cut. Y’all are the best salon I’ve visited hands down. And the conversation, consult, and end result? The best.

I absolutely adore my stylist Amber! She did a phenomenal job working with my Frenched bangs to give me some optional scene style side bangs and a gorgeous blowout that made for the perfect birthday photos❣️ she understood how to work with my naturally wavy hair and the cut is so natural and easy to style now! She was so sweet and fun to talk with and gentle too^^= the salon itself is super calm and a luxury the entire way through💖 highhlllyyyy recommend❣️

Makenzie killed it, I walked in without an idea of hairstyle I wanted just knowing I have super thick and curly hair which isn’t an easy cut. She made it an easy cut while being communicative and intelligable with her advice. Would 100% reccommend and will come back! Thank you Makenzie and Gold + Arrow.

One of the best high end salons in Portland, not the best location but they make up for it with amazing customer service. Stylists are amazing, highly professional. Front desk staff are the best. There was a small mishap with payment recently but was dealt with immediately and courteously.

I’ve had a few cuts here, always with entry level stylists and they’ve always done a fantastic job. Makenzie has given me a couple bobs (which is a deceptively challenging haircut) and they’ve been high quality and grown out really well. I really like this place and the staff.

I have been coming to Josh for five years now and he’s been amazing the whole time. The best and most consistent haircuts I’ve ever had. The whole staff is always attentive, friendly, and easy to work with for scheduling.

LOVE this salon! I moved to Portland less than a year ago, and it was important for me to find a hair salon with stylists that I could really trust. I've always found that tricky every time I've moved to a new city. This salon is perfect - not only is it a beautiful salon - but they do such a good job. I've been seeing Makenzie since I started going here and she is just wonderful! No need for you to look elsewhere. This is the spot!

Makenzie Smalls did such a great job. I went in for a transformation cut. For reference I had long dead hair before and she gave me a bouncy French bob with curtain bangs. She took my Pinterest inspiration photos and ran with it. I’ve been getting compliments from people I know and strangers. The cut boosted my confidence. I’ll definitely be back

I’ve been to Courtney Dahl for pixie/short cuts a handful of times now and always leave feeling like a million bucks. She takes my inspiration/ideas and executes with such precision and care. We do something a little different every time and I trust her wholeheartedly to do an excellent job no matter which direction we go. After looking for what seeemed like FOREVER to find someone that could give me the shag of my dreams I found MARITA, she is amazing. Not only is she a skilled stylist with cuts, she's also transformed my color. She's wonderful to chat with as well. I finally feel like I've found a stylist that listens to me, is highly skilled and I leave the salon with the look I was wanting. I almost want to keep her a secret, but her talent deserves to be shared. ✨(Blonde-cut only & Copper- cut and color) The salon is super cute as well!!!

Beautiful atmosphere and everyone is so kind. Courtney cut my hair and she is amazing. Very thorough and precise. I have shorter hair I'm growing out from a mullet and she made the awkward stage look adorable and easy to style.

Courtney was fantastic! She really took her time and paid extremely close attention to detail with my hair. I got a bob and it turned out better than I could have expected. She showed me how to style it and gave me lots of great suggestions.

Disappointed. Wife was actually in tears over her experience after being told by staff that her mistaken booking was not to be rescheduled or reimbursed. Promised a followup phone call to speak with management and instead received a text message: “I spoke with the owner and we are going to charge you for this appointment as this is our policy.” Policy for shutting down a location and keeping the money from unfulfilled bookings? We were promised a call back from the manager 5 days ago and have received nothing. Not one to post highly negative reviews, but this was exceptional.

Great place to go, if you don't want a haircut... My haircut appointment this morning was cancelled less than an hour before the appointment time. I understand that things happen, but this is the fourth time they've cancelled an appointment on short notice in the last 6 months or so. One time they cancelled because the online schedule showed a person who no longer worked there, a second time because a person that worked there wasn't actually in on the day appointments were available online, a third time because someone went on vacation. None of those times were they able to re-schedule me for the same day. I've never had this many cancellations at any place I've frequented before. On top of that, the door to the business has to remain locked because of safety concerns. Yet the cuts are pretty expensive, even for Portland. $60 for a man's short cut, but usually more for any experienced haircutter. Sadly, I've had some good cuts here, but won't go back because it's just too much trouble to actually get a haircut at this salon.

Highly recommend Makenzie. She spends a lot of time to consult with you on both color and style to get it perfect. She helped me with my root and overall gloss to get it the dark chocolate ganache brown I wanted. I really wanted my hair styled a certain way and she took time to explain her process. A true artist! I hate writing bad reviews, but sometimes it’s the really terrible experiences that are most important to share. I moved to Portland from New York and have been looking for a stylist here for a while. My schedule is super insane and I travel a lot for work, but I had done my research on this place, and the stylists who work there so I was excited to finally get something in the books with Lacey. HAPPENS ONCE - SHAME ON YOU The appointment was made weeks in advance and was right before a work trip. I had reference photos and high hopes for establishing a new relationship with a talented stylist here. The night before I got a call from their front desk coordinator Rachel, saying that Lacey “isn’t coming in tomorrow” and since I wasn’t a regular they had “gone ahead and booked me with someone else.” I was SOOooo bummed. I asked about the person she was rebooking me with——Courtney, she said is a “cutting specialist” whose cuts start at $65. Lacey’s cuts start at $95— so already knew i was getting thrown to a less experienced stylist with fewer standing clients and a wide open afternoon, versus the ‘top tier’ stylist I had booked with. I was reluctant but because of my upcoming work trip, I ultimately agreed. HUGE mistake. i got childcare for 3 hours and had a friend come with me. Thinking a trim shouldn’t take longer than an hour and a half, and then we could grab lunch. Not the case. Courtney took ***two and a half hours*** to barely take anything off my hair. The haircut was not good, nor was my experience. And I did not get lunch with my friend. HAPPENS TWICE - SHAME ON ME in spite of my first bad experience, I still really wanted the hair I had convinced myself I would have after an appointment with Lacey. So, I booked with her again. Weeks in advance. Right before a work trip. Organized childcare. And again…. the. Night. Before. My. Appointment….. they called me and said that because of “a schedule error” they would have to cancel my appointment again. No apology. No acknowledgment that this was the second time THEIR error has caused me to be inconvenienced. No idea that they had just lost a potential client. NEVER AGAIN At the end of the day my experience with this place has been a complete waste of time and money. Weeks waiting for a haircut I would never get. Hours sitting in a chair getting a haircut I hate. And the frustration of being canceled on twice, at the very last possible minute. (You’re telling me you JUST noticed a ‘scheduling error’ the day before my appointment? But not the week before when I got confirmation via text and email?) My biggest issue with the place are the girls running the front desk/ handling scheduling. Zero hospitality skills or client bedside manner. I understand that we’re all human and mistakes get made, but when your errors negatively impact your clients, it’s good to customer service to acknowledge the inconvenience you’ve caused them even if there’s nothing you can do about it. I’m sure Courtney is a nice person, but I was really specific with the front desk what i needed in a stylist and they led me astray. She took wayyyyyy too long to give me a cut that looks NOTHING like my reference photos. Lacey may be good— but no haircut is worth this much of my time and energy. Either way, I won’t be booking with or recommending this salon again in the future.

The salon is super cute and MARITA is the best hair stylist in the game. Whenever I sit down in her chair, she listens to my requests, inspires me to try new things, and blows my mind (& hair) with the outcome EVERY time. She’s given me seamless bayalage for fall, transitioned me from brunette to blonde for summer, given me basically every variation of a bob, and most recently I walked out of the salon with the Spice Girls hair of my dreams. Idk what water this girl is drinkin, but lemme tell you, she’s a magician🪄 I may have trust issues with most things/people in life, but not with Marita—she has a client for life.
