I love my stylist Liyah. She saved me after I got scissor happy at home. I am giving four stars because the lady at the front desk doesn't have a great attitude.

I booked a color and called for a blowout to be added since apparently color means leave with a wet head if you don’t cook a blow out. Blow out is just that, not smooth very rough blow. I’m pissed I have to go home to do my hair

I was hesitant about having another person do my hair after going to Dominican stylists the majority of my life, but I took the leap! I made my appointment at H2 salon and Melissa relaxed my hair with such professionalism and care. I can’t wait to go back in two weeks for my wash.

I’m long overdue in writing this review, but I feel it’s necessary given that it has been nearly a year, and my issue remains unresolved. On November 9, 2023, I visited H2 Salon, serviced by a stylist named Lauren. I was drawn to the salon because it is a Black woman-owned business that claimed to specialize in natural hair. However, from the moment I arrived, it didn’t feel welcoming. The receptionist didn’t greet me, and while my stylist was pleasant, I can only describe the overall experience as average. Less than 24 hours after getting a bob cut and silk press, my hair completely reverted, leaving me looking unkempt. After leaving a review on Fresha (the salon’s booking platform), Lauren reached out to apologize and offered a complimentary press and restyle. Despite her offer, she never followed up to schedule the service. I had paid for a style that I expected to last at least two weeks, and it didn’t even last a day. On November 25, I reached out to the salon manager, Dailey Greene, hoping to resolve the issue (screenshot attached). While Dailey initially seemed eager to help, explaining that the holiday season made scheduling difficult, she promised to personally take care of the situation as I was hesitant to return to Lauren. She suggested I come back in January, which I agreed to. When January arrived, no one contacted me. I followed up with Dailey on January 29, and after a brief exchange, she once again stopped responding. On February 24, I reached out again to request a partial refund, and my message went unread. I really tried to give the salon a fair chance to make things right before leaving this review, but nearly a year later, I’ve received no resolution, no refund, no follow-up—nothing. This is simply unacceptable. As a Black woman who has embraced her natural hair for her entire life, I was excited to support a Black-owned salon that I thought would understand my hair needs. Unfortunately, that’s not the experience I received. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially since I make an effort to support Black women-owned businesses. Seeing so many other Black women share similar negative experiences is disheartening. We, as a community, need to do better. A business being Black-owned does not automatically make it Black-friendly.

My experience with Liyah was just what I needed! From the consultation portion to the end result. I was talked off a much needed ledge because I thought I needed to chop all my hair off. I especially appreciated the one on one experience, which got me in and out in about 2 hours, but it didn’t feel rushed. I have work to do to get my hair to where I really want it to be but with the best cut I’ve ever had, to the homework Liyah gave me with consistent trims/maintenance…I’ll get there. See you in December! Attached is a quick video I made of my hair on day 2 and after going out the night before. I wrapped it overnight.

2nd visit at this salon. I come from Manhattan because I know my hair will be taken care of properly and professionally. Studio is always clean and peaceful All the stylist are skilled but make sure to book in advance as availability fills up. Book your next appointment with the front desk at the end of your visit

I had a terrible consultation appointment with Dailey. I have been wanting to check out this place in some time and I’m shocked by the customer service I’ve received. The attitude and respect wasn’t there at all and I just couldn’t pass that to explain what my needs were. I was looking forward to changing the way I’ve been maintaining my hair and the way she came across was off putting. She was rough, negative, not inviting. For sure, you won’t see me again. I need someone with finesse with professionalism; not a temper tantrum attitude.

The stylists are rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend to my worst enemy. Stay away if you have natural type 4 curly hair that you don’t want ripped out.

It's amazing how I wasted $85 and a trip to Brooklyn. My expectations where not met. I was lectured about how coloring my hair blonde was not good. A pixy cut was recommended and I respectfully declined.

I had a very relaxing morning at H2. I went in for a wash, trim, and twist out. My stylist, Lauren, was very compassionate with me, explaining everything she did and what to do after since it was my first time at a salon. Definitely will be back!

There are some things that are standard wherever you go, for instance a salon, a clean bathroom and women under the dryer eating. But when the salon gives you a roll away tray to sit your food on to eat while under the dryer, Ba-by, you have my whole heart, sometimes it's the little things. The atmosphere was amazing, clean shop, and my stylist Jahlena was awesome. She answered all questions I had about my hairstyle and other haircare information. Great place, will be going back

Today I went to H2 Salon since I scheduled an appointment with Jahlena to get a haircut paired with a Wash N Go. P.S. I am just sharing my experience so other people have a better experience than I had. This is in no way to discredit Jahlena's work overall. I believe she does great work, but I don't believe I was one of them. Pros: - the stylist assistant Nicole, I think that her name, was very nice and hospitable and washed my hair gently and with care. - the music was great - they offer you something to drink -Jahlena was approachable and did an okay job with cutting my hair Cons: - Jahlena spent more time cutting my hair than styling it. First Nicole washed my hair then Jahlena came over and cut my hair while wet, I don't know why but she's the professional. Then Nicole deep-conditioned and detangled my hair. After that, Jahlena blew out and continued to cut my hair to my desired length. I do appreciate her asking me more than once what was my desired length. But what she did next surprised me. She then brought me back to the bowl and shampooed my hair again. I thought that was excessive but I let her do her thing because she's the professional. Then instead of taking her time and finger coiling or at least separating my hair to get the desired look of a Wash N Go, Jahlena put some products on my hair and just made circular motions on my hair to kinda get that desired look *she did tell me at the beginning of my appointment that my hair wouldn't look like the reference photos because those young ladies had a different hair texture than mine, which I understand but I still have curls and coils, you just have to do a little more work to get them to be pronounced. After that, I was sent to the Dryer where I sat for a LONG time. When I finally got out of the dryer all she did was spray something on my hair and said I'm good to go. I looked at myslef in the mirror and felt SO UGLY that I didn't want to look at myself again. I thought it was the length that made me feel that way but it was actually the style. My hair looked like it was just washed, not done. I went to pay my bill, with my head full of negative thoughts and just wanting to hide since I felt so ugly. I felt so ugly that I went back up to Jahlena and asked her two things, how can I do this at home and do I look like a boy? She told me to just use gel in the shower to achieve that desired look but I think I would need something more to achieve my actual desired look. Secondly, she said all I have to do, wait for it.....is to put on earrings because she too wears her hair short and she feels crazy when she doesn't have earrings on. I'm thankful for the advice but it fell short. I didn't tell her I liked it, which I take responsibility for, because I honestly felt at that moment that "my hair is gone so why bother" and I honestly felt defeated. I told her the look had to grow on me, and she responded, "Just like anything else" so I left it at that. I've always struggled with my self-esteem and I went today because I wanted a rebirth. I wanted to feel free and beautiful for once but all I feel is trapped in a cycle of bad salon experiences and ugly. This is my first haircut so it has to grow on me but I still won't be going back. Good luck! Also, I realized my hair is fuller on the top than on the sides which I don't like because I don't like tapered cuts. And my hair is wet and flaky so....yeah, but hey you live you learn :)

A friend recommended this hair salon. Although I didn't make an appointment a hairstylist saw me and we spoke about what I needed and wanted.

This is the only place in brooklyn I go to get my hair done. My hair is pressed 90% of the time so I routinely see Melissa or Patrice for a silk press. LOVE THEM. Staff is always friendly, service is always quick, and it's always a relaxing experience.

I never been here so me giving a 1 star is based on my phone call to them. I called to find out if my daughter who is 17 can get her hair done. The person who answered the phone was rude and said no because she is under 18. Even though I her mother would go with her. The sad part is that this salon came highly recommend and both my daughter and I fell in Iove with the beautiful pics we saw on Instagram. We were hoping that this salon would do her hair for her prom. But everything happens for a reason. I wish them nothing but good fortune.

I received a silk press and haircut (trim) by Dailey on two occasions at H2. I am particular about my hair and chose Dailey as the owner and senior stylist to ensure I received the best service, though her pricing is higher. The first time went ok as far as the press and trim but I was left with dandruff afterwards, probably because the assistant only shampooed twice. I returned again 3 months later but pre washed my own hair before going. The second time was a disaster. Dailey was very rough combing through my hair during the wash and conditioning. She attempted to comb through my thick kinky hair in four sections, which of course was not going to work. After that, Dailey blow dryed, flat ironed/curled my hair. She likely forgot about the trim (although there is no option to book her for just a silk press without a haircut on the booking site) so I reminded her I wanted a trim as well. She explained that she curled my hair because she didn’t want it to be flat when she cut it. I’ve never heard of that before, but she’s a senior stylist so I went along with it. When I arrived home and combed my hair it looked as though my hair was cut into layers. I don’t know what possessed Dailey to cut my normally blunt cut hair into layers without asking me, but she did it. I didn’t realize how drastic the cut was until I asked my cousin, a stylist as well, who was visiting from out of town the next day to examine my hair. She confirmed my hair had been cut into layers and a section towards the back was cut very short for some reason, about 3 inches shorter than the rest. My cousin also explained that my hair should not have been cut after it was curled and that is likely why the cut was layered. Overall, I’m completely turned off by the service I received at H2 salon and I will not be returning. I did not expect for my hair to be “trimmed” into a cut I did not ask for. I have included photos of the “trim” I received from Dailey. Edited in response to owner: I was not able to leave a review on the Fresha booking site which would have included my full name. My google account is under my middle name. I was at to your salon in March.

Patrice gave me a silk press + haircut today, and it was an absolute pleasure. From washing to getting a haircut! Before cutting, she checked to make sure I was comfortable with the length she intended to cut. All in all, 10 out of 10. I made an appointment for my next visit before leaving!
