Worth to drive from Southbay! I’ve been wandering around looking for good hair salons and I’m so glad to find Nelson :) He’s so detail oriented, kind, and he knows my needs. Also the salon is clean and atmosphere is very calm. I highly recommend 👍🏻

First-time customer and future regular. Cut my hair after 2 years, and Nelson's place was the best place to do so. Had no issues setting up an appointment online quick and easy. The shops atmosphere was pleasant and had a lovely smell. Cut was detailed and smooth. Highly recommend.

I asked my friend with good hair where she gets her hair done and that's how I found Nelson. Immediately Nelson was very welcoming and nice. The head massage during the shampoo was very relaxing and I liked my haircut and style so much that I didn't want to wash it for days haha. It felt great to get rid of my split ends and I'll likely return to Nelson for color too. I liked that he double checked with me on the length of the hair and cut my bangs shorter when I asked. Parking was very easy as well. There's a small lot but honestly, there's plenty of free parking on side streets so no parking stress.

So happy I found this place! I don’t trust many people with my hair but I was thoroughly satisfied with my haircut :-)) my hair has been feeling slightly waxy with product and hard water buildup, and after Nelson washed my hair, it felt already tremendously cleaner. After the cut my hair feels so much lighter and healthier. Would highly recommend!

My husband asked for a wolf cut and his hair was already 80 percent there in length and style. Nelson just layered and tidied up my husbands hair, making it feel a lot less heavy. For my husband, a wash and cut was 70 dollars.

I was very happy with my haircut, everyone loved it. He was able to work around my dead permed hair that I had also cut myself. My bf had took me here and I’m so glad it worked out so well😊

Recently moved to the city and was looking for a new hairdresser to take care of my re-perm and I’m so glad I decided to go here. Best perm I have gotten thus far and you can tell that no steps are skipped and that he cares about the final look. I don’t usually like to talk too much during appointments, so the quiet, ambient atmosphere was perfect. Will be coming back, and highly recommend, especially if you’re looking for fresh male perm style

Got my haircut here about a month ago and i loved it. I got exactly what i asked for and it was super quick. I also took my younger sister to get her haircut, as well. She got exactly what she asked, which was a really short haircut. I was worried our mom was going to be super mad that i let her get her hair cut so short, but when my mom saw it, she really loved it. So, Hair By Nelson, mom approved!

I hadn't had my hair cut in a long time because of covid and I didn't have any salons near me that I'd really taken to - I am SO glad I found this place! Nelson did a great job, the salon was beautiful with a relaxing vibe, and you cannot beat the level of skill and quality at this price point. I will definitely be going to Nelson again and strongly recommend!

I’ve been to Nelson a couple times now and am always impressed with the quality of my cut. It is a bit on the pricier end for hair ($50 men’s - not sure about women’s) but worth it, especially when you have an important event coming up, like a college graduation, where you need to look spiffy ;)

The interior is absolutely gorgeous. The staff are super friendly and understanding. They walk you every step of the way. The stylist told me suggestions that would help my hair look better and it did! There’s so much texture and my mens cut was perfect. The service was great. I’m definitely coming back here for a good haircut, best Korean stylist in LA!

Update (June 13, 2020): they are reopened and have precautionary measures for COVID-19! 1. Sanitizing station w/ temperature gun 2. Upon entering i wore a mask (but of course could not leave it on for the duration of my appointment) 3. The entire staff wore masks Former review post: love the private-like spaces Nelson has created for each of his clients! the service and attention to detail is always consistent and excellent! Hubby gets his haircut by Nelson as do i! We trust Nelson w/ our hair and know that it’s going to look amazing every time! Also, what's not to love about them being an Aveda exclusive salon (Aveda products only)!

I loved Hair by Nelson because even during the pandemic they were super professional and welcoming. From the moment I got there I was treated warmly and nicely by all the workers present. They had a thermometer and hand sanitizer at the entrance, and yes, the space is as pretty as it looks in the pictures. I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 because I have curly hair and I do not think they are trained properly to cut curly hair... They cut it in a straight line which you're not supposed to do, and I think they did so while my hair was wet which is also a no-no when it comes to curls. I only needed a trim, and the place I usually go to was closed so I stumbled upon this gem. If you have straight hair you'll have the best hair cut, and at a good price. I almost forgot! They used a peppermint scented oil to give me a head massage, OH MY! Customer service is stellar, I forgot the name of the girl that welcomed me, but she was super sweet and polite (and understanding about me being on the phone the whole time).

Nelson is the absolute best for haircuts! I've been going to him for years now even though I live 2 hours away. I've gotten haircuts from several hair salons in the area and no one can do it as well as Nelson. I came in today to get my choppy layered hair fixed and it came out amazing. Seriously skilled, professional, and friendly to talk to. Thank you!
