Exemplary Professional Hair Stylist At Hair By Shawn A five star rating understates my personal experiences. I wish I could give Ms. Shawn a 110 star rating, just like she gives my hair and me 110% of care and love. I have been going to Hair By Shawn for 8 months. I have 4c coily natural hair that tends to run dry and tangles. Ms. Shawn has welcomed me into her arms and I plan to stay with her throughout my hair journey. The quality of client service and craftsmanship is consistent and always exceeds expectations. A client receives more than their money's worth when they schedule a hair appointment with Ms. Shawn. A client never waits for the previous client to finish. Ms. Shawn welcomes every client with a warm and welcoming smile and aura. The boutique environment is well organized and does not have a lot of product fumes in the air at arrival. There is available paid parking close to the boutique. Ms. Shawn confirms the service that the client selects on the vargo.com, and determines if the client’s hair is in need of the service, so that the client’s hair is on a healthy journey. Ms. Shawn even replies to hair questions and concerns sent via text message at a fast turnaround time prior and or after a hair appointment, because she wants the client’s hair care and hair style to last. The products and tools consist of high quality brands. The selection of the products and tools that will be used for the hairstyle is determined by hair texture, hair health, and hairstyle. Ms. Shawn recommends products and will view products that a client uses at home and or researches themselves. I can honestly say Ms. Shawn has a love for hair health and perfection, and it shows in her appearance, personality, client service, and craftsmanship.

Shawn saved my hair? I was living with the most botched curly cut imaginable (from a reputable salon in Pasadena) and was terrified of going to anyone new. My longtime stylist had moved to Seattle and most hairdressers want to cut my hair wet - it's like a 2b/3a fine, dense texture, so when wet it has no volume, but the haircuts these people give me eventually puff up into an uneven choppy nightmare. The curly salon I went to cut it dry, but poorly, with no shape and lots of ugly disconnected layers. I finally found Shawn, who from the get go saw exactly every issue I pointed out with my hair. I went in with it freshly washed and just barely styled - she left it that way and shaped it into the most beautiful shoulder length cascade, with gorgeous layers that are even and allow my hair to develop volume naturally. She is also such a friendly, fun person and incredibly respectful. I was truly honored to have her touch my hair and I look forward to going back once my ends get that scratchy feeling again. If you're in doubt, doubt not - she is, as another reviewer put it, a hidden gem!

I found Shawn when I was looking for a beautician who does texture release. When I reached out, she answered all of my questions, which gave me the confidence to go with a stylist I was meeting for the first time. I’m so happy I took the chance because Shawn has been doing my hair for over six months now, and she always does such a great job. She has given me two texture releases, along with trims and maintenance in between. My hair is shiny and healthy, and that's all because of her. Shawn is the most reliable stylist I’ve been to in years! 5 stars, highly recommend.

Shawn does a Fantastic job doing my hair. I get a silk press and it’s always super straight. Also, my hair lasts longer after getting it done here than at other salons. She’s also super nice :)

Today was the first time I had my hair cut by Shawn. She understands curly hair. I love my haircut and will go to her again. Her prices are very reasonable and she’s a very nice person.

I left a review on Yelp nearly 10 years ago and have been coming faithfully ever since. My hair was a reck when I first saw Shawn all those years ago. But by having her care for my naturally curly hair regularly, it has grown so long with great texture and manageability. I finally have a head of hair I truly love. I highly recommend Shawn because she does a great job and I always love my color as well! It's easy to make an appointment and I always get seen on time, without the long wait that many hair salons put you threw.

Where do I even begin. Shawn is the crème de la crème of black hairstylists in LA. There is no one like her in this town, and trust me I've tried everyone. From her professionalism, classiness, sweet disposition, flexibility, attention to detail, affordable prices, the ability to go above and beyond for her clients, and the list just goes on and on. Shawn is the big sister that I wish I had growing up. She will listen to your problems, give loving advice, and make sure that you leave her salon looking like a model. What more could you ask for? She is ALWAYS on time, never keeps you waiting, and ensures that it's only the two of you during your appointment time. What a luxury. I honestly couldn't recommend her more. She is the best kept secret in LA.

October 2020 was my first visit and by all means Shawn exceeded my expectations. I got a sew in and the whole process was painless, Shawn is very light handed and meticulous. She took her time and I really felt pampered. Her salon space is setup such that its only one customer at a time, very nice atmosphere and COVID-19 compliant. We both wore our masks the entire time. She had called me two weeks in advance to discuss the different options available; in case you need guidance, you are in very good hands. I yapped away as she did my hair and she is also a great listener and conversationalist. The total fee was very reasonable. Plus, she validated my parking on my way out. When all is said and done, my hair looked amazing! This post is past due and I definitely plan to return. Her service delivery was beyond excellent, just fantastic! The best salon experience ever!

Shawn might be LA's best kept secret! I found Shawn after moving to LA during the pandemic. I was in need for a knowledgeable and trustworthy stylist to work on my long hair whether I'm rocking natural or protective. Shawn was everything I needed and more. She is thorough and takes a lot of pride and care in her work. She is organized, clean, and importantly, respectful of your time. The experience is personal and intimate. I've been going to her for almost a year and trust her completely with all my needs. I've done sew ins, deep conditioning and scalp treatments, silk press, and they have each come out fantastic.

LOVE HER!!! I went to Shawn for a blow dry, trim, and press after not having had my hair done since I did the big chop November 2017. It was past due for a good pampering! She was great! She cut my hair to a cute even bob and styled it exactly how I wanted! It’s been a week and my hair is still shining an ful if body! Love her! Will be going back!

My stylist is Shawn, she has surpassed any other stylist I have ever been too...she is well experienced with all hair types hair such as natural, extensions, wigs, weaves , hair coloring, stylish cuts and will turn my limp, fine hair into something so lush, beautiful, and natural...I am so amazed and thankful every time!! 😊
