The hair stylist was really nice so this is no complaint about them. But the manager - blonde woman - was extremely off putting and rude!! There was a horrid rancid smell in the establishment and I asked if they would light a candle or something and I was completely ignored. As I was leaving the manager woman barked something at me asking for my ID and then realized i was a customer and did not apologize, just shouted out “bye!” to me. Did not smile once. The place SMELLED SO BAD and she did nothing to alleviate customers experience or explain. Genuinely not a great experience and I left after my appointment feeling very strange and icked out.

I had went for a haircut on November 16 and I called before asking for prices and I let them know that my hair is long so I can understand that pricing can be different. They told me over the phone a different price and when I got there I ended up paying for a different price way more than what they told me. Today I had an appointment that I couldn’t make it to, told me I had opened the google form, I tried to cancel online but it wasn’t letting me. I explained over the phone that I am in process of moving so I can’t make it. I told her the first time I went I ended up paying for a different price and she completely dismissed that and said that I will stay have to pay half for cancelling. I didn’t complain about having to pay more on my first visit because I liked the haircut even if one side was a little longer than the other side. I paid even when the price I was told on the phone was completely different. I just expected that same level of understanding of why I couldn’t make it today. I felt deceived when at the end of my appointment they give me a whole different price. But I still paid, no problem. It’s disappointing because she was dismissive when I pointed that out. I say I’m in the process of moving and they still want to charge half, on one side I can understand they could’ve booked another person but where’s the understanding for me.

This place is by far the worst hair/beauty salon ever. The stylists i had the miserable misfortune of encountering ( and by "Stlylists" i am being polite and am referring to a female employee at the Brooklyn Myrtle Street location and the male owner at the Bergen Street location. Oh my god! The owner charges 4x the price of his employees and is far worse "Stylist". I initially went in for a Brazilian Bone Strait style. The stylist washed and blowed, dried my hair, and apologized for not being able to follow through on the process. She admitted she simply did not know how to straighten from root to end. She said she thought a simple wash and dry would suffice. I have soft "coily" hair and like to wear it straight sometimes. Hair & Co. Management asked me to schedule again with a more professional stylist. This time, they booked me with the owner. However, he did not reveal that he was the owner... i believe because he wanted a tip. He suggested a keratin straight treatment. He only applied the product to the back of my hair and only applied the product in the front while washing it. He washed my her in a hurried state and left most of the product on my face and ears. I had to ask several times for it to be removed. After he blow dried my hair, it looked and felt like dull straw. He kept promising me that it was supposed to look shiny and healthy. My hair looks wiry, dull and lifeless. If I could give this business zero "0" stars , I would. I am new to New York, and I've always heard it is the fashion capital of the world... on par with Milan Italy in terms of haute cotuer, with fashion, hair, clothes, jewelry, etc. I will now have to rethink this, as this was the 2nd salon that I have had a nightmare experience.

Nivialis is a lot of fun! I looked forward to seeing her for my appointment. She is engaging and caring with her clients, with me. I'm happy to be her client, as she goes out of her way to make sure I'm happy with my service from the minute I walk in the door to the moment I leave her chair. I appreciate her time and her patience to understand what would make me happy with my entire experince. Thank you, Nivialis!

I’ve been coming here for years and always see Jessica for a barbering. She’s absolutely magnificent, and the staff in general are top notch! The facilities are modern and give off a modern loft vibe with exposed brick and a skylight in the back.

The stylist played in my head… came in last week and asked for a cut with layers because I had some breakage and she just chopped it up will nilly. Had to go somewhere else to get it fixed and they had to cut a bunch of my hair off to make it even.

Ariana is the best. She did exactly what I had in mind and taught me about my hair and how to simplify my hair routine and use the products. She is extremely knowledgeable and is also super sweet and really easy to talk to. She really paid attention to the details of my haircut, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole visit. I'm excited for my next visit!

Cannot say enough good things about Jessica! I walked in knowing I needed something different but not too sure about what it was - Jessica immediately was able to help me work through both the color and more importantly the style of color I wanted. She did a fantastic job and I feel so great with the end product!

I love getting my hair cut here. Kate is fantastic and does an absolutely amazing job every time. She's also an absolute pleasure to talk to, and every time I get my hair cut with her, I leave the salon feeling better than I did when I went in.

I went in on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving with blonde highlights. I showed Jessica a photo reference with a blonde color that was an ashier blonde. She spent hours on my hair and turned it blue. I was charged the $245 deposit but did not pay the remainder. She had spent the whole time telling me my hair was dull and how the previous colorist made the color muddy—but she would transform it. My blonde was stripped and my hair was dark with blue in it when I left….. I went to another salon two days later to have the blue removed. The colorist there told me the blue was added to cover a ton of mistakes Jessica had made. This is the end of my relationship with this salon. Photo reference I provided versus what I left with. Gaslit and told the color was fine and not purple/blue. It’s really the lack of integrity for me in handling mistakes.

I’ve been to Jessica three times for cuts and have been satisfied with them. I recently was diagnosed with alopecia areta and Jessica was super kind and hopeful about my regrowth journey. I would highly recommend her! Thank you Jessica

I got a blowout at this hair salon with Brianna that I am happy about. However, I had a bot booking my appointment as no one picked up the phone when I called. I was under impression that the service would be $55, but it was $78. There was an additional $8 environmental fee that was also not disclosed. Not cool.

I've been struggling to find a hairdresser I click with that is really competent, gender inclusive, understands curls, and has me leave feeling super confident. After my appointment with Jessica, I don't have to look any further. The salon itself was super clean and the staff were nice without being pushy or overtalkative. I'm really glad I found Hair & Co, and especially Jessica.

Jess is an amazing professional who upon first being a client, had me feel overjoyed. Jess was personable and fun. I didn’t have a dull moment during the hours there. Throughout the process I was walked through what was next and that brought comfort to me. My coloring was a unique blend that truly complements me and didn’t compromise my curls much which shows just how coloring is an artistry. I can’t thank Jessica enough!

Jessica is the best! I came in after 1 year+ of not getting a cut. I wanted to preserve my length while making sure my hair looked healthy and Jess understood exactly what I wanted. She’s awesome with my curly hair. In the past I’ve gotten blowouts instead of styling my curly hair and it turns out great too.
