Huge thank you to Ariah! My daughter is Mixed; Native, Mexican and Black with extra thick, 3C hair. We have a hard time finding hairstylists in the 4 Corners area that can cut her hair. Ariah got us booked for an appointment and did exactly what my daughter wanted. She's been growing out her hair for 3 years and desperately needed a trim. We did have to cut off about 5 inches of split ends, but it looks healthier and it's even. We got a shampoo, conditioner, blow dry and cut. She also did a silk press at the end. She is VERY happy!

I have tried 2 other places injoy and crytelz hair they both stood me up the day of the appointment at 2 separate times, and I was about to give up on trying to get my son's hair braided but I called hair it is, not only did they get me in last minute but Camara did a wonderful job. I think it's the owner who helped me when I called and was glad to have a new customer. THANK YOU for helping and saving us before vacation.

First of all I do not trust anyone with my hair as I have really thick kinky hair. It’s been really hard finding someone to do my hair in town. Glad I found Hair it is. Mylette was wonderful. See you in a couple of weeks

I am disappointed with this salon, particularly with Sheryl. First and foremost, she will be scheduling multiple appointments at the same time, so expect to wait a while before receiving your service. Second, she will not honor your request; she will always take the simplest path for herself, and you will only see the end result. Third, ask for the price via text before working with her; she will say something like I do not remember our price arrangement and come up with a high price at the end, so be prepared.

I’ve never cried so hard after a haircut. Not what I wanted, all my color was cut off. I wanted length and now 4inches are gone. Confidence gone. I’ve been growing my hair out for 6 years now and didn’t want to cut it. I just wanted my tips trimmed. I hate my hair so much. Never again. Not for $240. Not to be not listened to. I wanted to keep my hair long AND NOT CHOP IT TO MY SHOULDERS. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied. It took a bit for the look to sync in and now I can’t look in the mirror without tearing up. I’m a MODEL OF 14 YEARS, I had to turn down two jobs! $1,200!!!!

I got my hair done here last year. The gal who did my hair was talking on the phone with somone for about 80% of my hair appointment she added a lot of product to my hair and the braids didn't last past a couple of days. They began to get loose and didn't last me very long. Both the experiance of having someone on the phone and the braids not lasting made me really regret my choice to come to this salon. Her name was Aline.

Hair it is, more like hair it isn't. If you can manage to reach someone at the shop via the phone it's still like pulling teeth to set up an actual appointment. When you arrive be prepared to wait at least an hour because they overbook and don't value your time. I will say, Tiffany is a great stylist and you will like whatever she does, just be aware you're going to have to wait and then wait some more. The reason for this review is because of my unfortunate interactions with Aline. I knew something was off by her unprofessional text messages and apparent unwillingness to do simple cornrows, stating she has never done a braided mohawk before (literally just cornrows on each side and loose in the middle, all with my natural hair) but had no problem doing lemonade braids... We had an appointment set for 8am today, she messaged me past midnight at 1230am saying "come at 11" when I responded immediately telling her I had another appointment at noon, she said 9am was fine. I told her repeatedly I lived in Santa Fe so it was an hour away and still as I arrived at 9:07am at 9:30am she said she wouldn't be there until 9:48am. I left at 9:48am when she still had yet to arrive. Her lack of professionalism is a systemic problem with black owned hair salons. I know we strive to create a family experience and it's not just about getting your hair done but a sense of community. However it is still a business and when you pay for a service, you expect professionalism and for your service providers to be on time. If you want to be taken seriously, then be serious when it comes to business and value your client's time. I'm not your sis I'm a paying customer.

In the only two appointments I scheduled with two different people, the first was 3 hours late before she even started and the second didn't let me know she had to cancel until I arrived to find the door locked. These people wont hesitate to charge you hundreds of dollars for their services but are more than likely to waste your time in the process. Save your money and go somewhere else. I don't know how they stay in business if they waste their clients time this consistently.

I received a hair wash blow dry and straightening. A few days later I developed a rash around my neck. Have to assume the towels were not clean because they were used around my neck. I also tipped the hairdresser. I will never go back and spent $70.00. I am not from here so I went by the good reviews. Time to place these nasty New Mexico establishments on full blast.

I recently visited the braiding salon "Hair it Is" and found the experience frustrating and disappointing on multiple levels. -Appointment reliability is a major issue. Braiders regularly fail to show up on time or at all for booked appointments without notice. The braider Fessie seems particularly notorious for ghosting clients or showing up hours late. -The quality of service also proved unreliable. Important finishing steps are forgotten on styles, like sealing ends of box braids and dipping them. Yet the salon still charges full prices despite these oversight errors. -When you try to bring up concerns, employees are not helpful. One braider just dismissively said "So what do you want me to do?" rather than addressing the problem. Trying to get issues acknowledged by ownership is ineffective and inconsistent. The owner Mrs. Clarke is similarly unresponsive/dismissive to issues brought to her around braider flakiness and negligence. If she does respond its at odd late hours rather than normal business times. -Making matters worse, braiders may leave in the middle of appointments to run errands while requiring payment mid way through a service, delaying services for hours as you wait unfinished. Time is also divided working on multiple clients simultaneously, meaning attention suffers and completion of the service remains uncertain. You end up wasting much of your day uncertain if your style will even get completed. The Braider Rhonie often operates this way. -Clients aren't given guidance on properly preparing for services either. Braiders neglect to mention what hair types or amounts of hair that are required for planned styles. This leads to last minute surprises and rescheduling. -Additionally, sanitization practices appear lacking. The same uncleaned tools are used on multiple people with no precautions taken. -The listed business hours are also inaccurate. Although Google shows certain hours, appointments occurred outside of those times. With all these problems combined ghosted bookings, poor accountability, delays, unfinished work, unhygienic practices and dismissive management, I cannot in good faith recommend "Hair it Is." There are surely better braiding options that respect both your time and dollars more for these prices. Don't waste your money here - it's truly not worth the endless headaches.

It's a very laid back environment and they take pride in their work but kinda expensive I got block braids and they wanted me to pay them $100 to do them and $40 evey couple weeks to rebraid them my hair grows fast and I don't have super long hair so this just seems pricey to me but what do I know😂

The shop is so great the prices are really good the employees are really nice. The last time I went there I was hungry so they gave me some food and it was so good they let me pick a movie and everything best experience ever.
