Laurel has been cutting my hair for almost 4 years. She sculpted my lockdown buzzcut into a wavy pixie, and then a chic curly bob when I decided to grow my hair out. I scheduled a dry cut to continue the growing-out shaping, and changed my mind on the style at the last minute, with no advance notice for Laurel. When I arrived and vaguely described what I wanted ("less...feminine...I guess?"), she was surprised but took it in stride and we talked about different options until I said the magic word ("androgynous??") which was all she needed. ("I saw this on a super cute nonbinary person, it will look great on you!") Now I have the hair of my dreams and I smile every time I pass a reflective surface. Thanks Laurel!!

I've been coming to Laurel for the past 4 years and highly recommend her to anyone that is discerning about quality and skilled cuts. She has an impeccable sense of style, modern sensibilities about what will complement you, and attention to detail that is so hard to find. She puts a lot of thought into making sure she understands what you want but also the realities of how you are going to actually maintain your hair. I am personally very low maintenance but want good style and she delivers on both every time.

I’ve been visiting Laurel for the past several years after my wife’s (who’s also been visiting Laurel for a few years beyond that) recommendation. Laurel has always been consistent in providing great service and communication, both of which I’d found lacking at prior barber shops I frequented. Appointments are easy to book online. I’m glad I’ve made the switch to Laurel and trust her to give me great cuts every visit.

I've been going to hair party for a couple of years now and I'm always satisfied with the outcome! Laurel asks questions about your daily hair routine and personal preferences so that each visit is unique to the client. She's also glamorized her studio a lot since my first visit, tres chic! :D

Laurel has been cutting my hair for 5 years or so, and it is always a great cut. It's a cut that just seems to grow out so well. She recently convinced me to color my hair and I am so pleased with the results.She does an amazing job with color and styling, and the conversations are always great!

Hair Party is in a house which I was surprised about. It’s a little funky in that you have to go into her backyard. The space itself is quite nice and cozy though. Laurel’s cut has been perfect for me. She’s very thoughtful and precise. My first appointment was 1 1/2 hours and very well worth it.

I have only been coming to Hair Party for a few months now, but I'm really impressed by Laurel's work. My hair can definitely be a challenge -- I have long, curly hair with a fair amount of chemical damage from highlights over the years, and I'm going grey. In our first couple appointments that focused on color correction, Laurel carefully figured out how best to combine covering my greys while harmonizing with the colors that were already in my hair. It was a project, but she really nailed it and now I just go in every ~6 weeks to keep covering the greys. She also encouraged me to change up the type of hair cut I get, to great results! While I had been getting a cut that emphasized length and layers at a previous salon, Laurel suggested getting a softer shape that frames my face better. I am really happy with the results and will continue to trust her guidance in the future. Laurel does such an amazing job curating the perfect cut and color. She is really knowledgeable about what types of cuts would look most flattering as well as which colors would really compliment your skin tone. I trust her completely and my hair always looks incredible and more importantly I always feel so confident. I get tons of compliments after every time I go see her. I also love the location and atmosphere of her studio. It's super fun but also cozy and inviting.

Laurel revived my hair that was sloppy and lifeless after a couple years of budget haircuts. Truly a master at her craft. High standards, high attention to detail, and thorough. I can’t imagine letting anyone else touch my hair after experiencing her level of expertise.

I cannot recommend Laurel enough - she genuinely gives the best haircuts I've had in my life, in a really lovely space, and I have received multiple comments out of the blue from people since the first time I booked with her. She just knows what she's doing, and I trust her to take what I come in with and then shape it to match what is best. (someone else said 'like an artist' and that feels true for sure) Like, I got 3 compliments, 2 from complete strangers, the day after my haircut with her. She also does great color!

After years of bad haircut experiences, Laurel has truly elevated my hair!! I never knew what to do with my hair, and was scared to do any big stylish changes due to never finding a hair stylist that could cut Asian hair right but Laurel was perfect!! She’s so attentive and thorough, literally paying attention to every single detail. After an initial appointment fixing my layers, she gave me a low maintenance curtain bang that frames my face so beautifully. I am so glad I found her!

I have been seeing Laurel for a couple years now, and I have nothing but positive things to say about her and the experience I get each time I come in. Her salon, which she designed and set up herself, is so stylish it makes me want to take pictures for a future dream home. I am not super decisive about what I like to do with my hair, so Laurel and I always talk through it. Since I have long, thick, hair with loose curls, she usually dry cuts it. Throughout the appointments, she is always incredibly attentive and focused on making sure every detail is perfect. Her attention to detail and skill with scissors is impressive, and I always leave the salon feeling like a million dollars. But beyond her technical expertise, she always takes the time to get to know me and make conversation, which makes the experience all the more enjoyable. Overall, I can't recommend Laurel enough. Her skill, attention to detail, and energizing personality make her a true gem in the industry.

Laurel gave me the bob of my dreams! 🥰 I have really long, thick, straight hair that was down to my lower back and I was nervous about doing such a big chop and a style I’ve never tried before. After showing some inspo pics, Laurel talked me through what made sense for my type of hair and also hyped me up that it was the right choice. Along with that, she gave me the best product recs that work really well with my hair and I continue to use those on the daily. Laurel really listens to what styles you like but also approaches things practically by taking into consideration your hair type, maintenance/routine is like, and how it will grow out, which I really appreciate. Definitely recommend anyone and everyone coming to Hair Party!

not to be dramatic but I have never had the most perfect haircut. 👀 I came to Hair Party wanting a bob haircut and Laurel exceeded my expectations! She is precise and consistent. Before I met Laurel, I went through life getting just-ok haircuts once or twice a year. I have very thick hair and a lot of it. One time I saw a stylist who met me and declared "you have GOBS and GOBS of hair." He was right. He did a just-ok job with my gobs of hair. Laurel is not just-ok. Laurel asks the right questions to know what your hair's deal is and is masterful at working with it. If you have crazy thick hair like me she'll cut it so it can grow out for months without turning into a gigantic block weighing your head down. She is precise and efficient and detail-oriented and really just an awesome person. She is the only person in my adult life who has given me more than one haircut. I am serious! What are you doing? Go see her in her magical pink palace and emerge with amazing hair!

I absolutely love my haircut! I always have an idea of what I want when I go get my haircut, but I’ve never had a stylist walk through various options and recommendations as clearly as Laurel did. I usually am quite skeptical but I felt very confident following our consultation and had no qualms or worries through the cut! On top of that, I could not stop touching my hair because the shampoo she uses leaves left my hair legit feeling like silk. Plus Laurel is so fun - it truly is a hair party!

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Laurel at Hair Party for about a year and a half now. Right away in 2021 I really appreciated how Laurel took extra of care to make sure everything was very safe and clean (extra washing of hands, masking, extra sanitizing, feet booties to keep the floors clean of mud, and even used gentle medical tape to secure my face mask so it didn’t impede her ability to cut my hair). This last summer I’ve been traveling a lot to weddings and other public events, and Laurel has kept me looking fresh and camera-ready for every trip. I love that she offers a quick trim between regular appointments. Overall I’m very pleased with my experience. The private hair studio on the first floor is a real treat to go to every month. The decor is calm, yet bright, which I love during the cold, rainy season. Laurel always has hilarious anecdotes to share during our appointments, yet always has an eye for detail and gives me the best haircuts. Thank you Laurel!

Laurel was extremely unprofessional and lacked the basic customer service you'd expect from other salons. Not only is her salon in the basement of a house you enter from an overgrown back yard, but Laurel likes to reschedule based on her schedule while not being understanding of others time and needs. My first appointment with her was rescheduled at her request, which I was happy to work around. My next booking experience was no better though. I made an appointment less than 24 hours ago after which I was immediately contacted to come in earlier because she has another appointment right after me. I told her I would try my best as I work on the East side. When I texted to see if we could reschedule for next week I was told I would have to pay a 50% cancellation fee even though I was rescheduling for next week. Really disappointment because she does good work as long as you work around her schedule.

Laurel was great! She took her time explaining and suggesting things to me that I wasn’t sure of until I understood so I could get the perfect cut for me. We chit chat here and there but there are times when she needs a little bit of silence to focus on her work, which shows me that she’s really passionate about what she does. I also like that her place is located in a neighborhood so I don’t have to drive into downtown and get stuck in traffic and parking is easy. Will definitely come back for her services again.

Really pleased with my experience getting a haircut and balayage at Hair Party! I'd been thinking about balayage for a long time before coming here but never wanted to commit or trusted a stylist enough to do it. I recommend Laurel to all my thick haired friends. She is a DREAM equipped with scissors and an eye for style. Not only is her fresh cut great, but the grow out is amazing every time. Haircuts for me are far and few between ever since Laurel started cutting my hair. Both short and extremely long, the cut looks great. I have extremely thick, straight hair and grow out is the biggest issue I come across, so Laurel has been a blessing. ON TOP OF IT ALL, she is the most comfortable person who is client focused. Figuring out your new style is an easy open conversation through out the process. So if you're like me and never know what to do with your hair, except you want it cute as heck, Laurel is the perfect collaborator/guide. I was at my mom's the day before my last haircut and she said out of the blue "wow, whoever cuts your hair is so good, it grew out so nicely." It had been about a year since my last cut, and I have to say I agree!! Laurel's attention to detail and sincere interest in finding the best cut for my face, hair texture, and style has blown me away since I started seeing her a few years ago. I go once or twice a year and have never been so happy with my haircuts so consistently - on day 1 and day 360! Show her a picture, describe what you want, and/or put all your trust in her judgment - she is truly a hair artist.

Laurel is masterful when it comes to creating the look that you want with the hair that you've got. I have none of the hairstyling vocabulary, so I usually come with a photo and a handful of vague adjectives ("blunt, but not triangular") and put my hair in Laurel's very capable hands. Gone are the days where hairstyles were out of my reach because they "didn't work with my hair"; I just needed to find Laurel to make them happen.

Laurel is a great colorist and stylist, her attention to detail results in a great haircut and color every time. My hair is very think and very wavy but Laurel understands how to cut it and makes insightful suggestions for updated and modern styles that compliment my features. I get lots of compliments on my hair when Laurel cuts it. Recently she has helped me transition to my natural “silver” hair color and the compliments continue! Laurel is amazing!! She styles your hair to your face shape and bone structure, making sure her haircuts are as flattering as possible. I recently went from long hair to a pixie cut, and before going to Laurel, I was having trouble liking the new change. Laurel’s haircuts have made me love my new short hair to the point where I want to keep it short so she can keep cutting it!
