I cannot recommend Jamey at Hair Philosophy enough! I came in with high hopes and a picture of the blonde tone I’ve always dreamed of achieving (but no hairdresser ever quite got it right). Jamey completely nailed it! She took her time to explain the entire process, making sure I understood everything, and her attention to detail was just amazing. What I loved most is how much she truly cares about the health of your hair. She made sure there was no damage and gave me the best advice on how to maintain my color. She’s not only incredibly talented and professional, but also so sweet and personable. It felt like I was chatting with a friend the entire time. If you’re looking for an expert who truly knows what she’s doing (with any hair color!), Jamey is your girl! She made me feel so confident and beautiful, it was the perfect birthday treat.💛

My appointment was at 5pm, and I arrived 20 minutes early , however, my haircut started at 5:20!!! And there’s no explanation from the reception. I was put in the air for about 30 minutes!! She seems to be very unprofessional, busy and occupied with her colleagues chatting, in from of me. That’s super rude . She did Not get my robe off by her hand , only because she was supper busy with her colleagues in chat.

I had the worst experience at this salon. My appointment was at 5:00 PM, but I was left waiting for 20 minutes while the stylist was busy with a photoshoot for another client. No one informed me of the delay, and I was left wondering what was going on. When I finally got in, the haircut was a disaster. Despite providing clear instructions and showing an inspiration photo, the stylist completely ignored my requests. The result was nothing like what I asked for, and the cut itself was poorly done. The stylist didn’t seem to care or pay attention to the details. This was hands down the WORST hairdressing experience I've ever had in Soho. I won’t be coming back, and I’d strongly advise others to steer clear if you value your time and your hair! Edit: Thank you for your response, but I’m extremely frustrated. My appointment was scheduled for 5:00 PM, yet it didn’t start until 5:20 PM because my stylist was still involved in a photo shoot. To shift the blame to me for the delay is completely unfair. On top of that, my clear instructions were ignored—clippers were used despite my request not to, and when I asked for more trimming, I was dismissed. The inspiration video I showed was also completely disregarded, which feels incredibly disrespectful after I waited 20 minutes past my appointment time.

Mike did an amazing job! I rarely go to salons but every-time I do, I make sure to look for Mike because of how attentive he is. He always checks in every step of the way to make sure I am satisfied with the length and style and pays attention to what I want! Highly recommended!

I was nervous to try a new salon in NYC but it was so worth it. Not only is Jamey incredibly talented with cut and balayage, but she’s also very kind and made sure to incorporate all of my requests. It is quite expensive but I think it is worth the money. This was the best and most thorough cut and color I have ever had!

After searching for a hairstylist in NYC, I got a haircut and bayalage from Jamey and couldn’t be happier with the results! Not only is she skilled and attentive, but very kind and made the whole experience comfortable. The salon is also very clean and spacious. I walked out with the exact color that I wanted - 100% recommend!

This was my first time here at this salon and I really loved the experience! My hair stylist Wilson made sure that the haircut and color was what I wanted till the end. He also made sure to be specific about the cut so that I looked perfect walking out the door! I really appreciate him

Vanness is, without a doubt, a true artist. From the moment my appointment began, he demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism and an attention to detail that’s hard to find. He carefully listened to what I wanted and provided expert suggestions that resulted in the best haircut I’ve had in a long time. Not only is he an excellent stylist, but he also has a gift for transforming a simple haircut into a true masterpiece. I felt completely renewed when I left the salon. If you have thick hair that doesn’t ever seem to hold a style for long, I definitely recommend Hair Philosophy. Gaven is amazing and this is the first salon I’ve been to that has been able to give my hair volume and movement! I’ve been coming here for about a year and Gaven always works with me to make my haircut exactly what I want. He asks for my opinion throughout the process to make sure it’s going how I envisioned. I think the price is very reasonable for a women’s haircut in Manhattan and would definitely recommend Gaven and this salon to everyone

It's usually not very easy for me to find a great hair-stylist who understands how to cut East Asian hair. The SoHo location has a very relaxing environment. I had the pleasure of getting my hair-cut by Gaven, now twice. He is extremely skilled, executed my requests to perfection & then some! Highly recommend!

I’ve been going to Wilson L to get my hair cut, dyed and styled for 2 years now. His work is amazing. I usually show him a picture of the balayage color and haircut that I want and he brings it to life. I leave the salon with beautiful and healthy hair.

I’ve been putting off finding a new hair stylist in NYC after getting my first balayage done in Japan, but found Jamey on TikTok & definitely made the right choice! My hair was super brassy coming into my appt & I left with the prettiest brown balayage. Jamey was so fun to chat with during the appt, gave me great tips on how to take care of my balayage going forward & even treated me to a complimentary hair mask while I was there. Can’t wait to see her next!

Wilson did an amazing job. Month later and still no brassiness at all, hair is also still healthy. My hair never has held dye before, but he was able to get to a super light, cool, ash blonde, exactly what I wanted. 10/10 recommend.

After years of getting balayage done in Miami, I was initially nervous to try a new salon but Edwin was absolutely wonderful, he transformed my brassy dull hair into the most beautiful ashy blonde with so much dimension I couldn't believe it. The salon is bright and clean and he was so attentive and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. Thank you Edwin!

Edwin did an amazing job on an ash brown foilayage. I feel like it looks ever better in person than the pictures. My hair had a lot of previous color that was difficult to lift and Edwin was able to work around it to achieve the color I asked for. It’s been a few weeks now and the color is fading nicely. I am pretty picky with my hair and this is probably one of the only times I felt like I got the exact color I asked for. Price is amazing compared to other highly rated salons. Edwin was very kind and accommodating and I felt comfortable and that my requests were heard. I also appreciated that Edwin was gentle with my hair— my hair was quite damaged going in and he was careful to avoid breakage when washing and detangling. Edwin was quite efficient as well, finished in around 4 hrs which is a lot faster compared to my experiences elsewhere!

Edwin did my hair, and I was initially nervous about how it would turn out, but he nailed exactly what I wanted! I was looking for a brown color that would blend naturally with my black roots, and he did an AMAZING job. I recommend him 100%!

I think I’ve finally found my new favorite hair salon/stylist in NYC!! I was hesitant to get my hair done from a new stylist after moving to New York - but I’m so glad I found Jamey! She definitely understood the assignment and gave me the exact color I was hoping to achieve! She’s very detail oriented and her welcoming personality just made the whole experience even better! I can’t wait to be back for my next appointment!

Jamey did an amazing job getting me from the brassiest color to a dimensional ash brown balayage! I found Jamey on Instagram, after finally deciding to find a new stylist after years of getting color treatment that would leave my hair super brassy. She clearly understood what I was looking for and communicating with her was super easy. I was able to schedule an appointment that same week. Initially, I was nervous going in having never bleached my hair before but Jamey quickly put me at ease, she is super skilled at her craft and helped me understand each step of the process. She also gave me recommendations on how to take care of my new color afterwards and my only regret is not coming to her sooner!

Exceptional experience. I worked with AJ on color and I can’t recommend him enough! it was one of my favorite experiences. he was so knowledgeable and I learned so much. He also did a scalp consultation, which was really helpful to understand the health of my scalp and what I could be doing differently. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s brilliant. he also help me pick out color for my hair that I’m absolutely in love with. He suggested it first and I went through all the swatches and by the end ended up coming back to his suggestion. He has a good artistic eye color works with your skin.

Gavin literally gave me the best haircut of my life. I asked for long layers with face framing layers and curtain bangs. This place was super affordable and Gavin put in so much effort into this cut and it came out amazing! The right photo is what my hair looked like before and the left is what it looks like after Gavin gave it a fabulous wash, cut and blow dry for $100. Highly recommend! Also I was a walk in but you can book Gavin online.

If you need highlights, this is the place to go to! And Edwin is your stylist. He is amazing, very accurate super patient, I just got highlights and love the color and the results
