Vern did an amazing job on my hair. I was visiting KC on a business trip and needed some extra hair love before a meeting with some of the executives at my company. Vern listened very carefully to what I was hoping to achieve for my look and he did exactly what I needed! He also gave some great tips and pointers for my specific hair needs. I only wished he lived closer to me! Thank you Vern! You are an amazing stylist!

Had a great experience with Vern! He helped me get closer to my natural hair color (soft black) but also refresh some of the light face-framing pieces I had with foils. My hair feels much healthier and happier! The salon itself is a calm and relaxing environment, nothing like the stressful experience of over-crowded and loud salons. Glad to have found Hair Style Salon nearby and I will be back once my new color fades in a few months.

I went here to get my hair bleached and dyed silver. I know it is something that is tough to do, but I've bleached my hair at home before and got it blonde in one go no problem. Now I will admit, super friendly atmosphere, had some skill in applying bleach. But shouldn't be bleaching or dying anyone's hair. Once he did my hair, it took forever for him to dry it and I knew it was completely dead. But instead of him saying this and offering to do a free cut or offer half the payment back, he says, 'so you got some breakage' like no dude, you completely fried my hair to the point where it doesn't even dry anymore. I tried calling him the next day and the day after that to speak about the situation, but of course he ignored my calls. So I had to go elsewhere and get all my hair chopped off because I work in a professional place and what he left my hair like was far from professional. I swear hair stylist think their customers don't know anything about hair lol. Anyway, I will admit he has some skills, but personally after this experience, I'd only use him for cuts, not bleach or dye jobs.

I initially chose to check out hairstyle because I lived nearby and could walk to it but I’ve been so happy with every cut I’ve gotten here that I continue to go back even though I’ve moved further away. Verne is a great stylist, friendly and always remembers you when you come back in. The service is always great. Wouldn’t trust my hair anywhere else

I'm an out of stater who chose to get my haircut after reading all of the great reviews. I was not disappointed, everything was very clean, they have good safety measures in place (hand sanitizer, temp scan, only one person back at a time), and they were very friendly. They also did a great job on my haircut. I wouldn't hesitate to use their services again.

I’ve had Vern as my stylist for years now. He is excellent at what he does, and somehow makes my hair perfect every time! I also love the atmosphere, a smaller salon inside of a cute older home right by all the antique stores off of 45th and Bell. They also rotate local artists’ work for decor, which is really cool. You receive attention and care both from Vern and Brian, the owner of the salon. They are practicing great Covid prevention practices and the front desk gal is very nice. I can’t say it as well as I’d like to, but I just LOVE that I found Vern and Hair Style salon!

My stylist Vern did a magnificent job at both bleaching and cutting my hair. Give that it was my first time bleaching my hair he was very courteous and professional at answering any questions that I had! Would recommend!

After the pandemic hit, I was nervous about going to a salon. Thankfully Hair Style is super strict about ensuring the personal safety of their clients and staff. They have protocols for allowing only one client and one stylist in the salon at a time. Everything is disinfected between clients, and both you and the stylist wear PPE the entire time. The stylist, Vern, listened carefully to what I wanted, and then he worked his magic on my poor, overgrown hair. He gave me exactly what I wanted: something shorter for summer that I could still put in a ponytail or tuck behind my ears. He also cut my hair so that is was softly angled in the front. It added an edgy look and flattered my face shape. Plus he recommended the perfect products to add moisture to my hair, and battle humidity, without weighing it down. Pure perfection!

I have always been very happy with the excellent service that I get from Vern at Hairstyle. During the COVID-19 crisis, all of the staff at Hairstyle have been very prepared and taken every precaution to provide a clean, safe, and socially distanced hair care experience.

This is the only salon I'll go to during and post-Covid. They have been so careful to make sure that every guest is safe and comfortable. Masks at all times (and masks available at the front desk), only one stylist in the salon and one customer at a time. Whole place to yourself :) Super friendly and kind front desk person, and the owner is thoughtful and kind too. Ask for Vern! Plus, the prices are very reasonable, especially for such a high-class salon. Thank you, Hair Style!

Vern has amazing attention to detail . We cut about 2 feet off of my hair! Went from long hair to a pixie cut with bright purple highlights! He even made sure I could tuck it behind my ear! So much fun and Vern had many suggestions on how to keep my purple vibrant as long as possible. Everything was clean and safe and the other staff members and owner were delightful.

I have been a extremely satisfied customer with Hairstyle for many years. I highly recommend Brian’s team at this salon specifically if you are looking for expertise in hair color, attention to detail with creative and individualized attention. After geography took me away for a time, an other salon’s overpriced services and “master stylists” left my hair looking unnatural, overstressed and damaged with a style I didn’t like and could never manage, the return to Hairstyle was transformative!! Vern’s focus is always geared toward my services in a way that is both personal and highly professional. He takes the time to know my wants and needs. Vern has restored my hair to excellent health, created a style and color that is fresh and fits my lifestyle. I love that I can maintain my look outside of the salon so that I always feel great about my hair! Great location too!!

I have been going to Hairstyle for many years and they always do such a great job! The atmosphere is friendly and they always remember me when I come in. Vern recently did balayage and some highlights on my blonde hair and it turned out wonderfully and looks very natural. I always enjoy getting my haircut here!

Vern is the BEST! His attention to detail when coloring my hair shows why he is a certified Redken color specialist! My hair is long but he takes the time necessary to make sure I look my best when I leave. He’s also smart, kind, and funny which makes the time fly! I give him my highest recommendation! In addition to Vern being amazing, the salon is a great place! Brian, the owner, is welcoming and interesting to talk to and Julie, the receptionist, is fun and friendly. If you’re looking for a new place to have your hair done, you can’t go wrong with Hair Style!
