Jo is the absolute BEST❤️ it’s taken me awhile since moving to KC to find a hair stylist that I really like, does my hair beautifully, and at a reasonable price and with Jo I get all that plus she’s an amazing person in general. I was heading to a wedding and I messed up my hair and she was able to drop what she was doing at the gym and meet me at the salon for a total SOS emergency and fix it perfectly in time for the wedding. If your looking for someone AMAZING then seriously look no further than Jo cause she’s just the best 🙂❤️

Jo was my stylist and she absolutely killed it! I showed her images of what I wanted (I couldn’t decide between light and dark, so I let her decide) and told her I wanted bangs and some layers to help my curls flourish, and I couldn’t be happier with what she did! She gave my hair life again! Will definitely be coming back for more services.

Much Thanks to Jo who did an amazing job with my pixie cut although I was a little nervous at first. She made me feel very comfortable during the whole process, and was knowledgeable regarding products that could work with my style. I would definitely book with her again!

I went to Hairpins for the first time a couple weeks ago and met with Jo. She was fantastic! I gave her a rough idea of what I wanted based on a TikTok I saw and she brought it to life. She also gave me a bunch of ideas for styling my new cut. It was a huge plus that she took appointments after 6 pm on weeknights as well. I highly recommend Jo and Hairpins!

I’ve had appointments with Brooke and Jo—both are absolutely wonderful stylists and humans. Saw Jo just this morning and she took my grown out blonde to a dynamic copper (and I’m in love)! She is also an absolute delight to chat with—big talent with an even bigger heart!

This review is for Jo. <3 I hadn't cut, dyed, or styled my hair in over a year due to severe illness and chemotherapy treatment. I still had a lot of hair down to my back, but it had thinned out by about 50% with some very thin patches on my crown. To be frank, my self-esteem after a horrible year of illness was at an all-time low and I was feeling really ugly. I hadn't truly seen myself in so long, I'd forgotten how to feel good about my own reflection. I just moved to KCMO and found Jo @ Hairpins. When I showed up for my appointment, Jo greeted me like a friend. She was warm, patient, listened to what I was worried about and what I wanted. She went the extra mile to make sure I had a new look to go with my newfound health. I thought I was going for a haircut, but what I found was a cut and style so amazing, that I rediscovered myself and remembered that I'm worthy and beautiful. Her skillz and her considerate nature are a testament to what it means to be truly competent, professional, and empathetic. Class in every sense of the word. Thank you Jo.

After struggling to find a stylist who knew how to cut my hair, I found Morgan. I've been with her for a few years now, and I'll never go to anyone else if I can help it! I've even got a few of my friends going to her as well. She understands how to cut my hair in a way that works with my natural texture and takes into account how I like to style it. She also gets the look I'm going for and what I want to avoid.

Bridie is the very best! Even as a less frequent client, I feel an incredible connection to her. Whether I see her every 6 weeks or once in 2 years, I feel valued every time I come into the salon. Her skills and expertise are also top notch! I love that I don’t have to worry about stressing what to do with my hair before an appointment because she always offers suggestions for what looks best and what my hair needs. She’s even helped me regrow and make damaged, thinning hair more healthy. Even more than that, she offers the best in hair care products and recommends only what will truly benefit me - I never feel pressured to buy or like she is trying to push products on me. I’ve been with Bridie for almost 6 years now and always feel revitalized after our appointments. She is so authentic and I feel she truly cares about me as a person. I should probably be paying her double as my second therapist 😂 I’m so grateful to have Bridie in my life and always looking forward to our next appointment!

Brooke was 2.5 hours late to do makeup at my friends wedding. She was on her phone a lot and then still charged us $80 for makeup, and I wasn’t impressed w/ it.

Cristian is very talented at doing hair! He’s very professional and has a great energy vibe! He listens to your hair needs and wants and also recommends. I've been going to Morgan for almost 12 years now. She always does a great job on my hair, so much so that my wife says that "I'm not allowed to make decisions, it's Morgan's call." Morgan has been doing my hair for several years. Everyone always loves the changes she suggests, she great with colors and my cuts are easy to maintain. She also does my teenage daughter's hair and always manages to come up with a cut & color a mom can live with while being trendy and fun enough for my daughter. Morgan, and her biz, Hairpins, are a great match. Great stylists, and shop. Good lighting, great views of the city, easy parking. Oh, and the cuts are superb. Morgan has cut my hair for about a decade, and I've come to trust her choices. She'll tell me if a cut is gonna look bad, and that's the kinda honesty you want from your stylist!

I have been going to see Bailey at Hairpins since moving to Kansas City in 2019 and have 100% confidence I’ll be leaving with a great haircut every time. Located in the heart of the Crossroads, Hairpins has a very cool and relaxing vibe that I’ve never experienced before at a salon. All in all, I highly recommend going to see Bailey and the gang at Hairpins!

Update 6/2021 - I've now gotten cuts from both Bridie and Bailey, and they're both excellent stylists. Bailey fit me in her schedule while Bridie was away. I really appreciated how Bailey took the time to explain how she was approaching the cut, and the cut was expert. I recommend either of them with no hesitation! Previous review - I've seen Bridie for years and was thrilled when she moved to Hairpins. First, the salon: it's well-designed, comfortable, open and airy and feels very personal since there are just three chairs. You're not just a number here. Then there's Bridie, who has the best cutting skills I've ever experienced. I wear a short pixie, so every cutting detail shows. Since finding to Bridie, I have gotten compliments on my hair on the street, in elevators, on the bus, and I've even had someone holler a compliment across a parking lot. I'm not kidding. Bridie is the Best!

Bridie is amazing at listening intently about what I want. Her skills with coloring are off the charts. My color always looks so natural and has such depth. I get compliments on my color all the time. The salon has a very different feel than most. It is decorated in a very relaxing palette. It is quiet, no loud talking or listening to 6 conversations and 5 blow driers. Bridie is chill and listens with a genuine interest in your life. She is an old soul that is wise beyond her years. I never leave her without learning something about myself. That is icing on the top of crazy good skills but makes me look forward to the experience at Hairpins even more.

Bridie is amazing! I recommend her to anyone that will listen. I have even gotten my mother addicted to her haircuts. My mom drives over an hour to visit Bridie every few weeks for her hair. It's that worth it! I won't trust anyone else to color or cut my hair anymore. On my wedding day, the most compliments I received were around the color of my hair. Not my dress or my makeup, but the color of my hair. Done by Bridie of course! Trust me, you will not be disappointed by her cut and color skills and the relaxing atmosphere her salon provides.

Bridie is the brow whisperer. I’ve been waxing my brows since I was 13 and never had luck with anyone getting a shape that fit my face. Bridie immediately knew my best shape. She is so quick and I’m always so incredibly happy with them!

This salon is everything! The location is ideal with plenty of easy street parking right next to the salon. The salon has a green boho chic vibe. The team keeps the salon super clean. There are only 3 chairs, so lots of space. This salon can be a relaxing getaway for just yourself, or you can bring your whole family in for haircuts. They do men's, women's and kid's cuts. Bridie is my stylist and she is beyond talented. She has certifications as a master colorist and gives the best blow outs in KC! She is mindful of using the best and cleanest products in my hair. My two boys (ages 4 and 2) love seeing "Ms. Bridie" too. My husband has had sleek haircuts from both Bridie and the salon owner Morgan. He actually was a longtime patron of another men's salon in Westport, and switched to Hairpins because of their talent and professionalism. A haircut is about function, but this place also brings in the experience. I look forward to each visit!
