I’m sad to share I had a pretty traumatizing experience at this salon. I came in for a wash and cut, the lady took me for my wash and as she’s drying my hair, she shows me this wad of hair that she’s pulling from my ends and more hair was coming out. I get my hair washed at other head spa salons pretty regularly and have never lost this much hair after a wash. I was in complete shock and she tells me it’s bc my hair was long… I’m drying my own hair now and more hair keeps shedding at an Alarming rate. I turn to the other stylist and said my hair has never fallen out like this, what kind of shampoo do you use and the stylist Ronald says ‘idk’ and points to the floor and i felt very dismissed as there were 4 other people at the salon and they continued to ignore me as Im in shock pulling out hair..

The colorist also does a great job giving a nice and consistent color for my hair They have a great price for cut and color. The environment is also nice and clean, they take appointments.

I've gotten my hair cut multiple times with James Liu, and everytime he has done an amazing and totally unique job! He is easy to talk to and very smartly dedicated to making sure every detail of your haircut is perfect and how you want it. Incredibly skilled. Couldn't ask for a better hairdressing experience. The studio itself is also very well maintained and a relaxing experience.

I’ve been going to James Liu for 6 years now and he’s the best! He gives great styling advice, quick and thorough cuts and has done my coloring just as I want it. He’s friendly, quick to communicate and very personable. Highly recommend!

Had a terrible experience today. Ronald cut my hair badly even after I show him the style I wanted to achieve. Thanks goodness I did not make another stupid choice with having them perm my hair. The last time they burned my hair with over processing. Sadly now I have to be patience and wait for my short, choppy hair to grow. Not coming back especially as you do have to wait (even with appointment) and the cash only policy.

Horrible experience! Very bad attitude! Andex judged my wearings and showed no respect from the moment I walked in, said bad things about my clothes, shoes, even tried to tease my boyfriend, saying he looks old. When I felt he cut my hair too short, he put his attitude on and said he already cut it and doesn't care

Scammers, When they saw I was a foregneir they couldnt agree if the haircut is 32 or 33 dollars + they wanted 10 dollar tips for the woman that washed the hair and the hairdresser, I gave 5 each. So in total it was 43 dollars for a haircut, and 20 meters away they cut hair for 7 dollars.

Excellent hair salon that provides cuts (with two washes and styling included), perms, hair coloring, bleaching, etc. at a moderate Chinatown price. Pros: - Service. The hair stylists are all super attentive to detail and friendly. My go to guy has been Andex. He sits at the front of the row and he's excellent with both men and women's haircuts. - Cost. It's not a $10 Chinatown haircut - you're getting a full salon treatment for a fraction of the price. Cons: - Really none. Some of the hair washers only speak Cantonese (the hair stylists all speak English) which can feel intimidating but everyone is very friendly and the stylists can help.

I really don't want to write this 5 star review because I want to keep a great hairdresser to myself. I mean, who wants to show up to an appointment and be responsible for creating their own longer wait time? However, it's April 2020, I've been stuck inside for a while due to social distancing, and I looked into the mirror and realized my hair looks pretty great even though I haven't had a cut since early December. And it's all Ronald's fault. Also, from experience, I know it's still going to continue to look good for months after. I used to live out of state, visit Chinatown once or twice a year, and I'd often wait as long as possible to get my hair cut because I was holding out for my favorite hairdresser. For reference, I have long straight hair. As another reviewer mentioned, make an appointment but expect a wait, this place is cash only, a wash is included in the price of a cut, and be sure to tip whoever washes your hair.

Appointment only if you want the stylist of choice. Otherwise walk in's welcome BUT prepare to wait. There's quite a few stylists here but each one has their special rotation of regular clients so sometimes it's just packed, no matter what day it is. My go to peeps: Andex (I've been using him for 15+ years), Ronald (long hair is his specialty) and May (wash and style Queen). All three speak English, not to worry. The best part of this joint besides the combined expertise are the hair washers. Great scalp massages when getting a full wash. Remember to tip both the washer and stylist. And note, it's CASH only!!

Been coming here for years. Ronald is very good. Only complaint is the wait sometimes. Update 2019: I stopped coming here and strongly oppose this place for anyone considering for two main reasons: 1) Ronald does not adhere to schedules. One time I scheduled for 6pm. I walked in at 5:45 and he proceeded to seat another person while acknowledging me. I have referred five long term customers to him. 2) he cut my neck several times in one haircut. No apologies. No ‘on the house’ haircut. No reduced rate. I was on my way home and had blood on my collar. I had flinched several times during the haircut and he still continued. I came here for more than 10 years and ultimately stopped.

Ronald Ronald Ronald! He does amazing work, and he is also very kind and personable. The ladies who work here are not necessarily kind or personable--they can be rough and careless and rude. Definitely worth it to wait for Ronald.

I asked for 1 inch to be cut and for it to not be short because my hair is curly, they cut 2 inches off and It's like a straight edge. I asked for the front parts to be angled down and he angled them BACK so it's literally a straight line once I washed my hair. I look like a boy I am very upset.
