I highly recommend Hairsmith & Co for any cut or color. Megan Smith is highly trained (Vidal Sassoon LA) and an accomplished stylist. Megan is masterful with color; she sounds like a chemist/scientist when giving color instructions. I’m grateful I found Megan (during Covid) I just moved here from Chicago. She was masterful with my cuts, having lost so much hair from stress. My hair has recovered - Megan got me through! Hairsmith & Co’s environment is clean, bright and very welcoming. Great experience at Hairsmith & Co!

Can’t recommend Chris enough. Very fun to talk to and knows how to cut and color very well! I have dark hair which he always seamlessly blends into beautiful blonde full highlights. People seem to think it’s natural which is always a great sign. Also, HS&Co. has a really cozy feel inside and it’s quiet and relaxing.

I had a fantastic curly haircut with Jordan. She taught me a lot about how to make my hair suit me, and I really thought I knew how to care for my hair to begin with. As a curly girl, there have been very few times in my life that I left a salon without the need to immediately “fix it.” This was one of those times. It looks fantastic! She really knows curls :)

Lucette is by far the best! Not only is she an absolute pleasure to spend time and talk with, but she understands color and listens & delivers! She always makes the color look so natural & her cuts are perfect too! I highly recommend Lucette- you have found your hair soulmate/person as it's so hard to find the right one. 10/10 recommend Lucette!!

Lucette is my hair stylist and I cannot say enough good things about her. She really knows what she is doing and knows what to look for in terms of a cutting style that suits the shape of my face. And she is so friendly and personable, it is always a pleasure to get my hair cut.

My hair is wavy/curly, depending on the weather - and the cut! I found this salon via social media and haven’t gone elsewhere since. Previously, I tried to two different local salons advertising wavy/curly hair specialists, and left with straight, blown-out hair, despite being up front about not wanting a blow out or a radical change to my appearance. HairSmith doesn't force anything and I leave a better version of my hair self. Excellent, professional, talented folks.

First time in my life that I left a salon with my curls looking this good. If your hair needs a refresh and you’d like a Master Class on how to take care of your curls, this is the spot — Jordan was fantastic! I also loved that she wasn’t trying to sell me products the whole time; she was teaching foundational techniques for how to care for my curls. I learned so much, while being pampered. Already booked my next appointment and discussed next color transformation in the Fall. The only ‘con’ I can think of was that the place was a little difficult to find, as it’s a bit tucked away (Google Maps took me to some random parking lot next to it, initially). *Recommend you look for the big “1144” sign on E. Market Street. Once you find it, it’s an adorable cozy entrance. Calming studio with great light and lots of plants 💕 A+ experience from start to finish.

I LOVE HAIR SMITH AND CO, I cannot recommend it enough. I see Jordan for my coloring, and each time I am amazed with the result. She has taken me from brown, to blonde and then back to brown and each time it’s fabulous. I also see Timo for my hair cuts (I have extremely curly hair), and she is without a doubt the most talented curly hair stylist in Charlottesville. Love this pair and this salon!

I've gone here for a couple years and had great experiences. I have loved getting my hair cut by Madi. She is so nice, a great listener, and has always given me a cut that I am excited about and that grows out well. Would highly recommend!

Can’t recommend Jordan. Put money before client and also sent a text telling me to find another salon which was very unprofessional. Jordan lectured about expensive products I should be using that I told her I couldn’t afford and what I was doing wrong. This included a scolding about costing her time and money when I came in for a coloring with a scratch on the back of my head I couldn’t see and was totally unaware of. Twice Jordan changed my appointments due to her needs, but she was not so understanding when I had a scalp biopsy and a car accident with a neck injury that interfered with my appointments. I’m a positive person, and stuck it out with Jordan for almost a year while my daughter kept pointing out my unhappiness with this stylist. I honestly liked the salon - owner Megan was very personable and welcoming, and Timo and Willow appeared to be incredibly skilled and friendly. It’s not that I don’t recommend Hairsmith. I don’t recommend Jordan, and I’ve discovered I can get an equally great experience for a lot less money at another salon.

I asked for classic curtain bangs and long layers for a haircut. I was not happy with how my bangs were cut and left unsatisfied the stylist did even try to rectify that I did not like my haircut.

Had my hair cut by Ashley yesterday and I am so pleased with the results. She listened to my concerns and understood my routine (which is pretty minimal) and achieved exactly what I was looking for - keeping the length but adding layers and thinning my hair since I have such thick hair. Finding a new salon can be scary, especially if your hair has some curl to it or you need to update your color. After some research, I reached out to Hairsmith & Co. and received a detailed survey (I wish doctors took this much time and care!) into what my needs were and what stylist might be a best fit. Carly was recommend to me and I am so happy with the results! She took time to listen to my concerns/wants and replicated exactly what I was hoping for color wise! She also gave me the best bangs. Highly recommend! Really pretty space as well.

HairSmith and Co is exactly what a salon should be. Zooey is a master at their craft and incredibly personable and charming to talk to. As a man with long, European curly hair, it has not always been easy for me to find stylists who know how to cut the kind of hair I have, much less educate me on taking care of it. I found that with Zooey and HairSmith, and I will be making them my regular salon and stylist. I cannot say enough good things about HairSmith or Zooey - though I am sure that anybody employed by HairSmith is of high caliber. Also, while I tend not to worry too much about price, for a consultation, cut, blowout, and a little product their rates feel like borderline stealing from them. Zooey spent a solid hour and a half on me, over two hours when everything was taken into account (sitting under the diffuser and such) and the rate was only $55. Considering that the only other salon I could find in the area who advertises curly, specifically European curly, cuts and styling starts at $150, you can see how reasonable that is. If you need to cut, style, or even just learn about how to care for European curly hair, HairSmith and Co is 100% the place to go. Zooey is a master at their craft, an absolutely charming human-being whose personality makes the process enjoyable and not awkward, the space is beautiful and calming, the rates are more than reasonable... I really cannot say enough good things about HairSmith and Co. If you're on the fence, bite the bullet and visit them. You won't regret it.

It can be scary going from brunette to blonde so after hours of research, I thought Caroline should be the best fit. I showed her a couple pictures and it came out exactly how I wanted it and honestly even better! Caroline literally is a miracle worker for accomplishing what I wanted! I really appreciated how she explains what she is going to do & makes you feel comfortable. I also did not feel rushed, it was a very relaxful environment. If you are ever wanting any blonde work done to your hair, make sure to go to Caroline. You will not be disappointed!!

Sky did a great job doing a dry cut on my curly hair! She's super sweet as well and gave me a boost of confidence. This place also has excellent customer service. They were willing to adjust my appointment type so I wouldn't have to put any new products on my head, since I had been struggling with scalp pain. They are thoughtful and genuinely care. Place inside is beautiful with a chill atmosphere. I will be back!

My 17 year old daughter had her first curly cut with Timo today and she was AMAZING!! She was wonderful with my daughter, taking her time to talk with her about what she wanted, cutting her hair, and even showing her slowly how to wash and apply product. We are so thankful that we found Hairsmith and Co. My 17 walked out with a huge smile on her face and feeling confident! We will definitely be recommending Timo and Hairsmith and Co. to our other curly hair friends.
