I was super excited to try this place and made a next day appointment for a cut. I woke up that morning with a scratchy throat but took some emergen-c and tried to take it easy hoping it was temporary. By around 3pm I was starting to get chills. My appointment was at 4:30pm so I called and explained that I was a first time client, was not in the habit of cancelling last minute, but that I didn't want to get anyone sick so could I possibly reschedule. She put me on hold and came back saying they'd be charging me 50% of the service fee. I understand and respect cancellation policies, but I am a first time client and this is clearly an exception. I don't want to be shelling out money to a business I've never even been to. Not to mention apparently they have a 48 hour cancellation policy- not something that was even possible for me with a next day appt. So I said ok well then I guess I will come in and get the haircut. I then got a call back 5 minutes later saying that the hairstylist isn't comfortable cutting my hair since I am sick (fair), so we needed to reschedule AND they were still going to charge me the fee. I said no thanks, charge what you have to, but don't count me as one of your customers. They charged me almost as soon as I got off the phone. So I've now given this business my money without stepping foot inside. Again, I understand and respect cancellation policies as can be confirmed by the many (hair, nail, waxing) salons I've been a loyal customer to over my last 8 years in Philly. But there has to be some flexibility built in for situations like this. I just moved an 8 minute walk away so they lost a repeat customer. And just a tip to the owner, if you require 48 hour cancellations, don't allow people to make next day appointments. Doesn't add up. What a fully gross experience.

Heather is a talented and experienced stylist. I trust her with my fine curls. I followed her and Halo to multiple locations over the years because I love Heather's work and her dry humor. I also appreciate that Heather works with my lifestyle routines instead of telling me to buy expensive products and spend hours on my hair (not gonna happen). Halo is gender inclusive and a fun, welcoming place for all kinds of people.

Have been going to Halo Hair for the past year and a half and love it. The new location is very nice and spacious. Very cool and vibrant salon, reasonable prices, everyone’s always super nice and I always come out happy - don’t think I’ve ever been nervous there. The products they have are great too, and have been able to get recommendations on what works for my hair as someone who does minimal upkeep. Rebecca is wonderful 💓

First time at Halo and I was lucky enough to be booked with Kevin. He is a really talented and knowledgeable stylist. After a really nice consult he cut and colored my hair just the way I like it. Everyone was friendly and professional. Thanks Halo!

I relocated less than a year ago and had my hair cut here a few times. Unfortunately, my last experience was quite disappointing. Despite providing photos of my desired cut, and a request for chin length cut, the stylist cut it too short. When asked if I liked it, I mentioned it resembled Lord Farquaad from Shrek. In an attempt to salvage it, she curled my hair. I emailed the shop the next day, explaining the issues – 2 inches too short and resembling a bowl cut. The stylist offered to fix it, but after hours of emails, I realized it couldn't be rectified as it wasn't the cut I asked for. While the shop's policy is no refunds, paying $80 for a cut that requires time travel to fix seems unreasonable. At first the owner was going to refund me but after being silent for 48 hours, she changed her mind and told me these things happen. Pictures of the requested cut are seen in an orange tank and black dress. The resulting cut includes 3 pics in a red and blue shirt. UPDATE: I haven’t had a haircut in 5 months and it is just now the length I requested. 1 bad hair cut has impacted me for 5 months.

Sam cut my hair today and she did such an amazing job!! She was so patient, gentle, and really cared about what I wanted done with my hair. I absolutely recommend her! Best haircut I have ever gotten! Also the salon is so cute, and gives a luxury vibe!

Went in for a simple trim and was pretty disappointed. The stylist only cut my hair wet and proceeded to style it. While the styling looked fine when I washed it and air dried my hair it was all crooked. When I called to get it fixed they told me they couldn't fit me in until a week later. Would not return.

Heather is the best! I have super thick, curly hair and I am so lucky to have found Heather when I moved to Philly. She is so skilled and passionate about curls and I appreciate her so much!

I've been going to halo since they opened and have never been disappointed. I've had short hair and long hair and Rebecca always does an amazing job. I've learned a lot from going here and it's really helped me keep my hair looking its best!

I typically go to barbershops but decided to go to a salon since I’ve been growing out my hair and didn’t plan to go with a clipper cut like usual. Scheduled online and got booked with Samantha. She was great at listening and accommodating for the hair style I was trying to achieve despite having overgrown hair from a previous home cut. At the same time she was also offering recommendations on styling and ultimately gave me a haircut that would allow for versatile styling options which I really appreciated. Overall super happy with my hair cut and would come back in the future

I have been going to this salon for several years now. I came here during covid after my previous long term stylist passed away. Dani is the best! Always does a great job, is caring, patient and kind. I look forward to seeing her every month and always walk out feeling fresh and pretty.

I have been in Philly since October and have been searching for my perfect hair salon. I found it and my perfect stylist! Samantha is amazing! She always understands exactly what I want, even better than I do. She is professional and friendly. One of my favorite things about Samantha, besides her styling skills, is that she doesn't feel the need to talk to me the entire time I'm there. We have some friendly chats but sometimes I just want to sit and read my book and relax. I've had a lot of stylists that feel the need to talk during the whole appointment. Not Samantha, she's not too quiet, not too chatty, she's just right. BTW, also love the salon! It's close to me, comfortable, and all the people that work there are professional and knowledgeable.

I never write negative reviews as I am from a marketing background and know how it can hurt a brand. I went to Halo Hair place to get my 2 year old son’s haircut and the staff was not prepared to handle a child’s haircut. Why would you offer a child’s haircut if your stylist cannot come near a baby. The stylist looked frightened as my baby was not settling to get a haircut. My baby was anxious and cried as we were trying to settle him for the haircut. We told them to give us a few minutes as we worked through making him friendly with the environment. I understand babies are unpredictable and on a given day he might not give in easily. But the staff was rude. In a few minutes we were told to leave as my baby won’t settle in. We traveled from far and they didn’t bother to give us another time/date to come back. They asked us to leave and take a walk and NEVER bothered to call us back. I went back to get my phone as we left in hurry, The staff didn’t EVEN ASK or LOOK at me in the eye. They told me the screaming of my child is making the staff uncomfortable. When you offer child’s haircut as a service, you have to be prepared for uneasy kids/screaming. You have to be ready to give another date or at the least be understanding of what the parents and the child are going through.

I really love this place but I wish I knew about the policy where your deposit is forfeited when you reschedule your appointment. For context: I deposited $200 to hold the spot for my appointment on April 29th, something came up so I had to reschedule (I called to rescheduled 4 days ahead from my actual appointment date). When I rescheduled I had to make another $200 deposit to hold the spot and whoever was on the phone with me told me that my appointment was fully paid for. I even asked again to fully clarify because I didn’t want to lose $200 and the person on the phone said yes I basically paid for my full service and I wouldn’t have to pay (my full service was $400). After I got my hair done I was told I needed to pay another $200 because the first deposit I made didn’t go towards the service and it was forfeited but I was never informed of this when I rescheduled, instead, I was told that I fully paid for my service through the deposits. I really wish I was informed of this policy before I rescheduled and whoever told me that it would be fully paid for needs to be notified of this policy, clearly. On a side note I really do love my hair and my hairstylist, I just wish I knew that I would lose my deposit if I rescheduled even more than 48 hours before my appointment! 5 stars for the hair service 1 star for communication of the policy

I see Samantha here. Got my haircut here yesterday, I got bangs for the first time in my life. I’ve never been happier with a haircut in my life. Slayed. I recommend Halo to everyone I know.

I went to Halo Hair today and Samantha did my hair. She did such a wonderful job, was professional and sweet, and made me feel beautiful. She cut my hair exactly as I envisioned it and was communicative and friendly throughout the entire service. I will definitely be going back to her!

My first experience was amazing, Heather and Ava at (Halo Curl Old City) are truly gifted artists willing to share their knowledge. I learned more than I ever knew about texture and product application. Everyone is personable and the atmosphere is welcoming. Stop by, you will not regret it!

My review is based on my first visit to this salon. I made an appointment with Dani for a root touch up, my hair is an ashy color however my root read ish, I wanted to make my root dark and I was very flexible with the results, however when I got there the receptionist was very friendly, the colorist unfortunately was not welling to work with me or even pay any attention to what I wanted, she suggested a color correction almost immediately, I did my root shadowing with one of the best salon in south Philadelphia in best and I never had a colorist try to make some more money, for me I was so disappointed in my visit to this salon. I must add that Dani was arrogant, cold and very uncompromising. My advice is if you really want to give this salon a try you should book with another colorist.

Such a good experience!! I literally never leave reviews, but honestly was so happy ! I had a haircut done at another salon a couple months ago that I wasn’t happy with and I decided to come here to get it fixed. Samantha took the time to find out what I wanted and what my goal was for my hair (which to be honest I hadn’t thought about) and now I actually love my haircut. Thank you for listening and making me like my hair again! What a great spot!!

Three weeks ago I tested positive for COVID and had to cancel my hair appointment (~26 hours in advance). I was very upset I had to cancel as I was leaving for my honeymoon that week and wouldn’t be able to get my hair done. When calling to cancel and reschedule I was informed I’d be charged the full 100% of my service. I let them know that I’d be willing to come in with a N95 mask on as I really didn’t want to cancel but didn’t want to get anyone sick. The receptionist informed me that it was their policy they’d have to cancel since I was sick and would only charge me 50% of my service and give me 10% off of my reschedule appointment. That was already very frustrating since I was willing to come in but it was their policy to cancel but they were still charging me? My appointment was rescheduled for today at 1:00PM. After getting back from my honeymoon I realized I didn’t receive any reminder/confirmation texts about my appointment. I called and asked to confirm my appointment was at 1:00PM. The receptionist informed me that there was no appointment booked for me and that they didn’t have any availability today, this week, or next weekend. There was no sympathy for the situation or understanding about previously mishandled appointments. I have my wedding reception next week and now will have to find a new salon because this place is never getting my service again.

Was so tired of not liking my hair so I finally went for a cut after years! I am so glad I chose this place and had Sam cut my hair. She listened to my concerns and gave me exactly what I wanted and needed. No pressure to buy the products and gave me honest opinions on their products. So happy with my cut and experience!

When I moved and had to find a new salon, I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to find a place that felt comfortable and that I trusted with the color and style that I loved. I’ve been coming here for almost two years now and have always had a positive experience! Kara is my most recent stylist and besides being hilarious and friendly, she always communicates with me to make sure that the final product is what I was looking for! Highly recommend! ☺️
