**Update** Was just called MINUTES after posting my google review by Pedro who I could tell was very annoyed with my review, but he did not deny this is what got him to call me back. If you are considering posting a review because the store is ghosting you - do it! They will call right away! What an uncomfortable conversation. He was monotone and cold. I asked if I should speak to someone else and he said "We get notified every time someone posts a google review, so that should suffice." He said he was working all week trying to "figure out a way they could possibly comp my friend a service" because she is not a member..... lol **** I have NEVER had to work so hard to speak to someone. Friend and her mom had massage with ANNALISA and she was not able to stand on her own due to her physical condition. Massage was awful. BOTH my friend and her mom paid for these massages and did not complain. I asked for a comped massage for my friend and was told ok. But really, both should have gotten a comped massage. Felt bad because it was my friend's wedding and a big deal. Asked the front desk if she could come back for a real massage. Was told they credited her account and for her to call and ask for my massage therapist who I enjoyed. Well, they did not put the note in her account. It was so embarrassing for her to call and have them say no. Then, I have been told a manager was going to call me all week. Customer service hotline does not and will not connect you with the location. What a colossal waste of everyone's time. Now I need a massage to deal with the stress of trying to contact this location. Thanks.

I tried to book a first time customer massage for the price of $89.99 for new clients as listed in their website. I have $50 gift card which I plan to use for this service and customer service has let me know at booking that I cannot use the $50 gift card for the new clients price and would have to pay the full price of $159.99 for 1, yes you read that right, 1 hour massage. This seems predatory and not how you conduct a business. Money hungry businesses will be the down fall and it’s no wonder that hand and stone doesn’t have 5 stars

I never had any issues with the services themselves. However, I am extremely frustrated with how they conduct their business. The front desk admin made it difficult for me to pay for my first massage without signing up for their subscription, claiming I can cancel after one month blah, blah, blah you’ll save money. I’m mad at myself for falling for it. I went a few months paying for their credits. I tried to cancel a month ago and they made me freeze my account first. When you freeze your account, $10 will still be charged to you monthly. I finally used my remaining credits and tried to cancel my subscription in person. They told me a manager would review my request and call me tomorrow to cancel. He didn’t. I called 3 days later asking for them to cancel my subscription. They told me a manager still needs to review my request. I said it was not a request and to cancel my account. The person on the phone was not helpful and said a manager would get back to me soon. Well the manager did get back to me. Several days later, assuring I was charged a monthly freeze fee. They are icky, don’t fall for it. ALSO. Just a note to pay attention to the front desk person when they are calculating your tip. With my subscription, my facial cost $89. They were calculating tip as though the facial was $150. I let it go because I loved my esthetician. I never want a service worker to get the short end of the stick, but again ICKY.

I was gifted a hot stone massage for my birthday, and it was exactly what I needed. Upon entering, I was offered water and asked questions about what I wanted and any areas to focus on. The massage therapist was a man, and he provided a lovely and relaxing massage that I felt was trauma-informed by asking for consent and feedback throughout the experience. The conversation was light and friendly, but I was told and I believe he would have not talked if that had been my preference. Overall a great massage and experience!

My favorite esthetician informed me that she was going to be leaving this location (undetermined what she was going to be doing next) and let me know so that I could book services with her before she was gone. Knowing her popularity, I promptly booked a service with her and was looking forward to a massage before the facial with her. I received a phone call a week later that she would no longer be available to provide that service at that time or any other time. She had a fully booked schedule between putting in her notice and leaving the company. She's always been great at upselling me and selling me product while I'm there. It would only benefit everyone for her to remain and work out this time. Now all of her clients are being called to rebook with someone else. There have always been management issues at this location, but the decision to eliminate her from the schedule is a disservice to her clients, in addition to her. I put in a request to cancel my membership and will be finding business who treats their employees with grace and respect, even when faced with their departure. This trumps any prior positive experience I've had here.

Biggest scam ever. Seriously I am a huge massage-goer and I had a gift card for this place so I decided to try it. I booked this for my boyfriend who has a bad back. I specially booked a deep tissue massage and added on the CBD oil and hot stones to the massage as well… total ended up being over $150 and he came back afterwards and said it was first of all, NOT a deep tissue massage at all. Wasn’t deep, was barely a massage. Also tried to blame me for booking the wrong massage when it was on their records “one hour deep tissue massage with CBD oil and hot stones”. Also recommended a tennis ball as a massage ball because he said something at the end about not being satisfied with the massage. Literally the biggest waste of money and time. He said he came back “more stressed than when he got there”. Would not recommend at all. Never going back. Don’t waste your time or money. Groupon has better massages and for cheaper!!!

I've been a customer at Hand & Stone for years and years. I started at South Loop and my massage therapist left. I tried a few other therapists and was going to give up my membership because I couldn't find anyone I liked. Then, I found Kody at Lincoln Park. He is by far the best massage therapist I have had. It's hard to find a therapist who understand what you need and Kody truly can find all the knots and tension and work them out. My body always feels relaxed after I see him and I very highly recommend him!!

Kody (in Lakeview) is hands down the best massage therapist I’ve ever seen. I’ve had a shoulder injury that’s bothered me for 10+ years and I’ve seen a lot of different people for it. It wasn’t until after a few months of seeing him on a regular basis that the pain started to reside. He has the most relaxing massage and the best deep tissue massage. Kody is always booked far out for a reason! If you’ve got chronic pain, or stress, he’s your guy. Side note, I never write reviews for anything, but this man is magical and sent from the gods.

Overall, the services are excellent—every provider I saw did a wonderful job. My one star is due to the fact that I signed up for their membership program and was told it was very easy to cancel (since I asked due to me moving within the next few months). I have called, filled out an online request form and emailed corporate to attempt to obtain the official cancellation form. Nobody has followed up despite being assured that I would receive return calls from the manager of the location. This was over a 3 week period and it’s frustrating as I no longer live in the state and cannot simply walk in to request one. Be wary of this!

Alyssa is wonderful! She is an amazing massage therapist, highly skilled and professional. I have been seeing her for a few years now and every time she does a wonderful job. The whole establishment is always very friendly and helpful. Well worth the money.

Cannot recommend Kody enough! I’ve been seeing him for over a year, and it’s always a great experience! Very knowledgeable, meticulous, and has been helping me through some consistent neck/shoulder/back pain. The front desk is always super nice & helps me with whatever I need. I’ve referred several people here just to see Kody! He’s usually booked out for a while, but for good reason!

Fine facial, worst customer service ever. Where do I even begin? Woke up sick the morning of my appointment and asked to reschedule and not get charged the cancellation fee given it was an emergency circumstance and I would reschedule with them right then on the phone. After 30+ minutes on the phone arguing back and forth with various people i was told they’d waive the cancellation fee. Flash forward two days later and I get charged on my credit card with a text from the manager saying I didn’t abide by their policy despite getting verbal confirmation two days prior. I try to call her but have no luck getting in touch so much so that their suggestion was to try to show up in person to speak to her…this is 2023…she finally calls me back after 3+ follow ups and reluctantly waives the fee. I had my facial and it was fine. Not bad not anything to write home about. Found it very off-putting that the esthetician did not discuss the form that they had me fill out which not only listed my goals for the facial but allergies. I have a horrible allergy to a product and had to proactively bring it up to her since she didn’t discuss one thing about me prior to getting started. I doubt she even read the form. Flash forward the facial is over and I’m getting harassed by the front desk employee to purchase all these packages and future appointments. I felt like I was talking to a car salesman. Completely unprofessional and money hungry. That is the last feeling you want to have after a relaxing facial. Unfortunately I have no choice but to come back because I have a decent amount of money left on my gift card as they inaccurately provided the true price of a first time facial. Again money hungry.

I used a gift card from a family member here and there was a lot of unnecessary hassle surrounding the use of the gift card. Brianna was super helpful in taking care of it. The actual massage was not really worth its price, the masseuse did not explain things very well to people who don’t attend massages often. I asked her to be firm but unfortunately she had to use gloves so it didn’t feel very firm. When I was leaving the clerk pushed membership on me multiple times where it was almost uncomfortable. I tipped on the price of the full normal massage rather than the price for a brand new customer. Would probably choose another massage place that is cheaper or worth its price, though the facilities were very nice

I've been a member for over 2 years now. I can honestly say the facials are pretty great with all of the different aestheticians. I've enjoyed their massages as well. I have even brought on friends to become members. Recently, I wanted to use some of my credits for a self-care day. My appointment was confirmed. Then I was called to move my appointment which I did not hesitate to do. Then a day before my appointment I was called and informed that I would not be able to use my credits until my membership was brought up to date. I did not realize that for the last couple of months the membership fee was not being paid. My card had expired. While I understand there are policies and certain requirements in place, I also understand that it is important to be flexible when customers are loyal and promote the business. I have five credits that I am unable to use because I miss three payments. I have to bring to bring my membership from "suspension" in order to do that. Based on how my issue was handled, it does not motivate me to do that which means that I have paid for 5 months of services that they are refusing to fulfill. It is theft in my eyes. I will never recommend this place again. If you decide to become a member understand that you are just a number and will be treated poorly.

The worse massage ever. I had an appointment at 5pm and my massage didn’t start until 5:15 pm then the girl just stopped my massage at 5:50 not even an hour of the massage that I paid for. Never again. So unprofessional. I will never go back to this place. She was wearing gloves which it was so weird because I’ve had massages done before and they don’t do this. My massage was overall a 1 out of 10. We make appointments for a reason if we are going to be seen at whatever time they want then don’t have reservations smh

Whatever you do do NOT go here. I went about three weeks ago for a hydro facial. I explained I had sensitive skin and the technician did not use sensitive skin products. I had a severe allergic reaction to the products used. I called 5 times on different to get an idea of what they used because I would like to know for the future and my face was so swollen and burned so much. I was told I’d get a call back and never did. I even sent two emails. The worst customer service ever and I cannot urge people to not go here.
