If you’ve had the displeasure of meeting Romy, I mourn with you. Her pompous demeanor and self-given authority will deter even the brightest of people. Her bitter attitude marinating in regret of whatever she felt was thick in that room. I couldn’t even admire her work she boasts so highly about. You’re an esthetician at hand and stone. At hand and stone…..hand and stone. Get a grip. Don’t be mad at everyone else be mad at that patchy gray hair, gap tooth grinning like a busted picket fence, and that broad back built like a retired linebacker.

Explained to therapist I had a knot in my upper right back and shoulder. She barely worked on it over the 80 minutes. Wish she was more intentional about it, especially considering my specific mention of it. Was disappointed.

No exaggeration- every time we book at this location they call weeks later to say the therapist isnt available, spa closing early, therapist doesnt work here anymore, they need to reschedule……. So much for booking appointments 6-8 weeks in advance.

I came in today 6/14/24 for a dermalogica classic facial. This location was very nice, up to date and sanitary and i greatly enjoyed my facial and felt she did a fantastic job. However, I was rather frustrated because there were lots of loud voices right outside the room during the entire duration of my appointment. From what I could tell this had mainly been employees discussing their plans for the weekend. I have found all other locations to be quiet and great opportunities to relax however this was very disappointing. I didnt want to be rude and ask her to have them keep it down but i found it to completely alter my experience as it was meant to be time for me to sit and enjoy some quiet time.

I've visited a few Hand & Stone locations. But out of all the ones I've been to, this one in Spring Lake is the nicest. From the moment I went in till the moment I left, the service was excellent. The esthetician Dana was incredible. In addition to giving you the best options, she provided a facial massage, which I had never received from a facial previously. In addition, Caroline gave me a membership offer at the end and assured me that I would gain a lot from it. Since she was so kind and helpful in explaining the membership, I had to accept her offer. It was never truly provided like she did at other location I’ve been at. I would strongly advise anyone to come to this location. Thank you spring lake hand and stone I’ll see you soon!!

Dana D. is hands down the best lady to get a facial from! She is so personable and really knows what shes doing. She did my first ever facial and I left with the biggest smile and so satisfied! Highly recommend!

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A SUBSCRIPTION! I pay $80 a month and have been only able to get a one or two slots in the last year! You have to have a VERY flexible schedule to use these and have to book several weeks in advance. I tried to put my account on Freeze, but (a) they charge you to do this and (b) you have to wait on hold for hours or wait for days for a call back. This used to be a reasonable expense, now it is just a scam.

Don’t even bother making an appointment here because less than an hour before your appointment they will just cancel on you because the therapist “called out” with no other solution for you. This was for a pre-natal massage that my husband re-arranged his whole schedule around to be home to watch my child. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing.

Have been coming to this location for facials for several years and always have a great experience. The reception staff are very friendly and I can always easily schedule a date for my next visit. I always book a visit with Romy for a monthly facial and she’s transformed my skin. She’s extremely knowledgeable, professional and just a wonderful person. I look to her for suggestions each time I visit, to address whatever may be going on with my skin. I’ve tried many different cleansers and moisturizers over the years, and thanks to Romy I’ve finally found what works. My skin has never looked and felt better. You can tell when someone loves what they do. Romy truly cares about her clients and has a passion for what she does. She’s my skin guru!

I have been getting massages for years and have been going to hand and spa now for about 6mos. I had a massage booked with Avery last night after many stressful weeks of very long hours for my biggest work event of the year. I was dreaming about this massage and it not only met but exceeded my dreams! Avery is exceptionally professional and knowledgeable. They took the time to talk and suggest the best approach for my session. They suggested I add the Hot Himalayan salt stones to help with added deep tissue I had already added to my session and it was a game changer! They also were amazingly flexible about my request to add more time to an already late hour appointment! I left feeling like i was on another planet, with a longer neck and range of motion I haven’t had in months. Just so impressed - Avery is a true healer.

I just got off the phone with a very polite and well trained young woman. All I wanted to do was cancel my subscription. She informed that only a manager can do so. The managers next available day is August 14th at 5pm. Today is August 5. this will cause me to incur another 70 dollar fee. I have no issue with any of the services I have received or paying for it as part of the agreement. I find it very unethical to be subjected to such treatment. They are deliberately delaying the process in order to charge more money. I know that they read these reviews. I will repost once this is resolved. I was contacted by the manager on Tuesday August 8th. They are going to rectify this situation. I have 6 months to use 12 services. I think is very fair and I do appreciate the phone call.

I just had my first ever massage here and let me tell you… BEST MASSAGE EVER!!! I had Avery as my massage therapist and she was so considerate asking me making sure her pressure was good and nothing hurt and if she could go lighter or firmer! I am DEFINITELY coming back!!!

I scheduled a massage therapist for 10:45 am today, making the reservation two weeks ago. I emphasized my preference for a male therapist who specializes in firm massages. However, I was assigned a female therapist who only provided light massages. This experience has led me to feel disappointed as a customer. Despite being a frequent visitor in the past, I regret to say that I will not be returning.

If I could rate zero stars, I would. I have a month to month membership which I have been trying to cancel after 7 phone calls to the SLH location. It's funny how they can sign you up in 30 seconds, but you have to go through hell to cancel AND in the meantime, get charged even though you called the day of billing. I called the location last Friday 2/2 at 4:13pm in afternoon to cancel my membership, explaining why, but was told it could not be canceled until I spoke to an account manager. I was transferred to an account manager but received the account manager's VM; I had to leave a message and call the location back. I was told no one was working to take my call at that time. (I'm pretty sure 4:15pm on a Friday would be considered within business hours on this planet and the location is open til 10pm.) After being told that they would call on Monday - I asked for a specific time for a call since I have a job and need to block off my calendar. After some back and forth that it was going to be a four-hour window of time during this supposed phone call which i was told was 12:40p-4:40p (during most people's business hours), a manager picked up and assured me I would receive a call and gave me some slots. I chose Monday 2/2 (today at 1pm EST) I received a confirmation email for my 15 minute call with Kat and then a reminder email for the call an hour before it started. No one called, so I had to call the location back where I was transferred to VM and had to call back the location...this happened THREE MORE times with no one picking up the account manager or finance person's line and me calling back, explaining the situation for the 4th time. Each person I spoke to had a different story - first, Kat was running behind and then Kat was on the phone and then someone told me that she could see Kat wasn't on the phone and I still was transferred to voicemail. I called back once more and was told they were running behind. I sent an email - and it's now 2:25 pm and NOTHING. The fact that you can sign up for this membership without lifting finger but you have to speak to an "account manager" to cancel is a waste of time. Far worse, is the run-around that this location has put me thru since Friday and that is the part that is totally unacceptable. If you need to cancel before the next billing cycle - which I was trying to do - but they make you wait for 4 days - you're going to get charged because of their lack of professionalism. AND I did get charged even though I attempted to cancel!!!!!!! If the account manager was supposed to talk me out of cancelling; I assure you after this experience, I will use up my credits before they expire in 90 days at a different location and never set foot in one of these places ever again.

My experience with massages here has varied so I highly recommend getting a recommendation for who to use and don’t just choose any provider. Joan gave a great medium/firm massage and was very personable. Amy was a super friendly, knowledgeable esthetician, and gave a great facial. I have had very positive experiences with the front desk and with management. **It is HARD to get an appt for massages but if you book it in advance you can always change it.**

Awful, I had to make an appointment 3 weeks out, I thought wow they must be good. Really been looking forward to my massage and they called to cancel my appointment 2 hours before the scheduled time. Then they couldn't reschedule me anytime I was available this week. Put me on a wait list and offered free aromatherapy for my inconvenience. Awful, what I want now is cash for the gift card I have so I can go somewhere else. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
