Darren is the only person I’ve let cut my hair since discovering him through a friend 3 years ago. He is truly passionate about what he does and it shows in his work, I’ve never had as good a haircut from anyone else.

Darren was great. I’ve had many many bad cuts and I was very nervous going in. I planned on making a big change with a brand new-to-me stylist. He listened to me, gave solid recommendations, and I walked out with exactly what I wanted. Probably the best experience I’ve had. I’ll definitely be back!

Guy texts you a different location than is advertised. You can’t find it easily, especially at night. Refuses service because of overbooking. Would not recommend. It’s definitely sketchy going to some dudes house

I had an appointment 2 weeks out for a cut and color. The morning of I got a text confirmation. Then an hour before my appointment, I got a text canceling the appointment. The text had a bunch of stupid emojis but no apology. I tried to call to reschedule and was forwarded to voicemail. Highly unprofessional. The new location also looks like it’s in a run down house. The German Village address on Google is outdated.

Darren is talented. (Plus he's fun to chat up) I've followed him for a few locations and glad he has his own shop. I keep my haircut simple- but even with my men's barber cut, he gives you options. Something for office and weekends. Watching him finish the appointments before me, it's obvious the women in his chair love his advanced skills.

I have been going here for years & I think that Darren is an artist. Once I brought my mom to get a cut from him & she dubbed him "manitas de oro" (hands of gold). She said it was by far the best cut of her life & I agree.

Darren brings LA style, NYC professionalism, and Columbus kindness to the chair at PHD -- and we couldn't be any luckier to have him. In wanting to go blonde, he was very transparent with me on how far he'd take my hair to ensure it stays healthy, and it was something I appreciated from the first moment. My first cut, color, and style have held up beautifully -- and I feel really great about maintaining the style & health of my hair too. Highly recommend the person, the service, and the ambiance of the salon is just perfect too.

Darren cancelled my appointment in the last minute. He texted me about it, but I didn't receive it. After I arrived in his shop, he was serving another lady patiently, talking to her happily, and greeted me politely, but didn't mention the cancellation at all. He made me wait for about 20 minutes, and didn't tell me the truth until the lady left. His excuse was he was having diarrhea, which can not be told at all during my 20 minutes waiting period. He asked me to reschedule the appointment. I wad very disappointed with his rudeness and decided not to deal with him in the future.

Darren did a fantastic job. Came here and gave him really little guidance but he was able to cut the hair perfectly based on the shape of my head. He was also very friendly. Came here with a few people and it was very enjoyable just hanging out as he cut everyone's hair. I will come back.

Hands down the BEST salon in Ohio! Darren is a master at his craft both cut & color. He takes the time to listen or help you decide the best direction. My hair has never looked better!

Darren (the owner) is the absolute best! I've followed him at three different salons in Clintonville over the years, and now to his own salon in German Village. Even though I live in Worthington, it's SO worth the drive to keep Darren as my stylist! He's great in cutting hair, and also a wizard with color. You can't go wrong with him.

Had to cancel last minute for a first time appointment and called more than an hour before to leave a message that I couldn't make it. Darren Hardesty then texted me that if I rescheduled $20 would be added to the next bill for the late notice. I can't find this policy anywhere on his website or booking site (nor how much time you have to cancel), but he can do whatever he wants, it's his business. I told him I wouldn't be rescheduling and he replied with a weird passive aggressive statement, basically saying his intention all along was to get me to not reschedule. I ended up blocking him on my phone or else he would have continued to text me.

I wish I had found Jesse Ward and Headmaster sooner! After seeing how cute the salon is while walking my dog (and the very nice stylists outside who asked to pet her), I knew I had to come in and try it out. I booked online with Jesse right before I moved out of state... he is amazing and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. It's been about two+ months now and my hair still looks great! I told him I was moving to LA and thinking about going shorter. He actually said a longer length would be better for me so I could pull it off my neck when it's hot. And of course, he was right. He evaluated my hair and explained his thought process on the way he wanted to cut it. I told him to go for it! He was very communicative and thoughtful in regard to my low maintenance style. We talked about some fun color options I could try during my next visit and he even told me to text him when I'm back in town because he would make time for me to come in, even if he wasn't scheduled that day! Plus, after I told him I was heading out with my boyfriend for our last date in Columbus, he curled it and styled it in a fun/romantic way. He even tried to teach me how to curl my hair since I am clueless. All in all, a fantastic experience and I wish I could come in more regularly. Next time I'm in Columbus, Jesse and Pistacia Vera will be my top two priorities!
