I went to Joy for very basic hair needs: wash, deep condition, blow-dry, trim, and a protective braid-down. Upon calling to make the appointment, I was pleasantly surprised by Joy's inquiry to my hair history. It seemed she was genuinely invested in my hair journey before I even booked the appointment. This is appreciated. I was, however, taken aback by the price I was given for the basic hair services I listed above ($150). I know there are other salons and independent stylists who would have done it for much less. The only reason I proceeded was because of timing. Given the price, expected to be thoroughly pampered at this appointment. Overall, Joy is incredibly kind, conversational and hospitable. The salon itself could use a slight face-lift. The waiting area is a very tight space that can't comfortably accommodate more than 2 people. Most important for me, however, is cleanliness. I noticed a layer of dust, hair and debris on most of the furnishings. It would be too harsh to call it dirty, but a cleaning certainly wouldn't hurt. My hair was towel-dried with what appeared to be an old bleach-stained rag. I would've expected something soft and cleaner looking. I expected to be relaxing under a hooded dryer for my peppermint steam conditioning treatment. Instead, I had my head tilted back in a sink, directed at a small device that blew steam toward me. I wouldn't expect that to be as effective as the standard hooded steamer. (EDIT: After going to another stylist who I LOVE, I learned that this kind of steamer is just as effective as the hooded kind, so this point is no longer considered in my rating). Joy gave me a wonderful hair wash, but I do wonder the kind and quality of products used. The only other salon I've gone to used DevaCurl, well-known for high-quality products. The only product that was showcased in Holy Hands salon was their proprietary oil, so I can only hope high-quality products were used in my hair. The hair braiding was relatively fast, though she did have to stop in the middle to quickly help another client. I really didn't mind this. My only remaining concern is how long my braids will last. I'm usually able to keep cornrows in for a few months without an issue (EDIT: I no longer keep them in for this long after speaking with a trusted stylist.) Joy carries a wonderful energy. In my eyes, the services weren't at all worth the price, so I don't see myself returning to the salon, at least not for the same needs. Now that I’ve gone to another salon and have had amazing experiences for HALF the price I paid here, I can affirm that it is worth doing more research to find the best choice for you. Also, my braids didn’t last very long at all.

I feel bad that I waited so late to get my review in, just been so busy. Praise is deserved for this young man. My daughter and I went to Holy hands a couple years back because we had a loc disaster from another Loctician because we was new to the game..lol. Antwan had to take my locs down and redo them, he got me back right the way they supposed to look. The atmosphere is very Christian oriented, which I enjoy. He’s very dependable, and very respectful about your time and he definitely will get you in and out. My time, my atmosphere is everything to me when it comes to me spending my money. If you search for someone that’s going to do your locs and you are first timer Like I was, This is a place for you.

My first experience was very professional. My Stylist) name was Joy and she lived up to her name very clean, very professional, very knowledgeable about hair and also very versatile. We had a great time. We laughed. We cried we prayed with each other. It was overall awesome experience, and I thank God for this woman of God, may the Lord continue to bless and touch everything and everyone you come encounter with you are truly truly a blessing to those who come in contact with you.

Antwan saved my hair…. I had nothing to work with and he started my loc with hair as short as a little over a fade and he introduced me to his hair oil and when I tell u my hair was back to a mini Afro in like a month. I was getting my locs done by Antwan for months, but my last two visits were not good. He argued with me about my loc saying they are sister locs, and wanted to charge me $400 to continue doing my locs. Without asking me he interloced a loc. I'm from NY and know the difference between locs, and he was not being true, out of fear of him not caring for my locs appropriately I just never returned. Very disappointed in him as he say he is a man of the clothe....I have never paid $400 living in NU, where the Jamaicans started my locs and cared for them till I moved to Indiana.

I had my hair touched by Joy. I love how it turned out. My hair has never been so shiny. I especially loved how she started a treatment for my scalp and didn't make me feel less. Getting great service and knowledge of the what to do and how to do's awesome. Going to start going more. Go into this very clean, relaxing, positive energy environment. Get blessed by Joy.

Joy is wonderful! It has been awhile since I got a trim and I was need of one. She explaining what she was doing to my hair and explained/demonstrated what I need to do to keep my hair healthy. I can trust that my hair is in safe hands. 😊

I definitely would recommend Holy Hands to anyone. Antwan started my twists and did a great job. He was very quick and it still looked good. He played some great music and made conversation with me so it wouldn't be super boring. I even got a few good laughs. It was also very clean in the salon. He charged me a decent amount. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable. Joy is a wonderful as well as knowledgeable stylist. Her work is always top notch & you are her priority during her work. You don't leave her chair until you are completely satisfied. Her prices are quite reasonable for the amount of work performed. I highly recommend her!!😊

Too high in price. I went there to just a cut 2 start over & style I was charged $95 way too high just for that service. They charge high prices because they have to pay there rent for being downtown. Which is a extremely high value.
