I’ve been looking for a new place to go after my precious stylist moved and i’m glad i was recommended to Homegrown! Julie did a fantastic job and was very attentive. There were multiple little details regarding the cut that i hadn’t even thought through but she asked before doing anything to make sure i got what i want. Overall the atmosphere was great too! The space was cute and cozy but didn’t feel too cramped. All the other stylists were smiling and laughing with each other and their clients which just made the space more comfortable

I have never have felt more seen and heard getting my hair done than I did with Vik. He is an outstanding hairstylist as well as such a kind soul. They made sure to ask lots of questions before getting started to make sure I had the best experience possible. I went in filled with anxiety and left so happy and filled with confidence.

I booked a curly cut with Kenna and she did an incredible job. I felt completely at ease in the salon’s casual atmosphere and she gave me exactly the kind of style I was looking for. 10/10 no notes

I moved to St Louis in spring 2024 and began my search for a new color specialist. Had a couple of nightmare experiences prior to coming to Homegrown, including one highlight session abruptly ended by a chemical burn (on my scalp). After all that, I’m so thrilled to have found Sarah at Homegrown! Good blonde highlights take a lot of skill, and she absolutely nailed it. My hair finally looks the way I want it to! Sarah really listened to what I wanted, even asking me to share a photo from my last stylist to ensure she understood my vision. I also really appreciated that she picked up on my "not feeling super social" vibes—I was able to read a book comfortably while she engaged with other stylists and customers. It was a wonderful experience, and I’ll definitely be back! Thank you Sarah and Homegrown Hair!

Excellent service and staff, don’t be fooled by this younger group of stylists. They did an amazing job on this old lady. I have had my hair cut in many shops throughout the city and county and honestly can say they out performed every single one of them.

Had an appointment with Julie this morning at 10 am. She was super friendly, she listened to what I wanted and we came up with a plan. She gave me a wonderful cut that is exactly what I wanted and cleaned up my brows. She was fabulous and super friendly. I feel like I had an appointment with a friend. I drive by Homegrown all the time, I am so pleased I gave them a try. Julie is the best and is as sweet as she is talented!! I have found my new hairstylist!!

I went In recently to get my hair cut much shorter. I was very nervous going into to but Vik not only met with me before had to answer any questions we had but made sure the experience was as stress free as it could be. They made a very stressful experience into an amazing one. I absolutely love the hair cut and they helped before we left with maintenance that would need to be done. They were amazing and so was the business. I drive there from Springfield Illinois for the amazing experience and cut from Vik! Highly recommend them and the business to anyone looking for a welcoming environment!

Truly love Evan here and would trust no one else with my luscious locks. I have a popuar-with-queers-in-2016 undercut and always leave feeling fresh, clean, perfectly lined up, and gay as hell. I've been a DIY hair dyer for years but with my wedding coming up I didn't trust my own hands so I turned this great responsibility over to Evan and it came out fiiiiiire. Plus he's just really chill and nice and so is everyone else there. The vibes are immaculate every time and the new location is gorgeous.

I haven't had a haircut since 2020, went in for a cut and color with Kenna. She was the best. It was so relaxing I kept wanting to snooze. She also managed to bring back my curls that had been weighed down by all the length. The salon is so chill and the people all seem so nice. I will definitely be returning 😊

Went in for a cut and deep conditioning treatment, it had been 10+ years since I last had any professional salon service done; I must say, I now remember how amazing it feels. Stevie worked on me and, after reviewing some of the numerous reference photos I brought in, was able to give me the cut/style of my dreams. I walked out looking EXACTLY how I pictured I would prior to my visit. She did an amazing job and was so friendly and kind. The entire experience was awesome and definitely the relaxing treat I needed. If you’re looking for atmosphere, friendly staff, and gorgeous hair then you HAVE to book an appointment at Home Grown.

I had a disastrous experience. Nobody should have hair as ugly as mine. I almost cried during the haircut and spent the whole afternoon crying over the ugly hair that I got. I have mid-short hair and asked for a shorter, clean cut. Instead, I ended up with my hair looking like an enormous, unfit baby hat on my head, way shorter than I expected, and way uglier than any decent female short hair should be. I want to offer my genuine experience on 1. the communication, 2. the skill, 3. the overall satisfaction. 1. On the communication: My request for a hair wash was ignored multiple times. I communicated my concern at least two times about how I think it is necessary to wash the hair before we trim it. I told her that I don't come with perfect hair. But no, I didn't get the hair wash, and I left with my hair unwashed. I did get a reduced fare for not washing my hair, but honestly, I didn't come here to save money. The hairdresser got defensive during our communication about how I wanted the haircut to be. I almost cried when my hair was half done. I told her it was already too short, leaving very little room for further trimming. And it was thick—I have very thick hair, and layers need to be done for a satisfying result. But my hairdresser immediately got offended, saying, 'I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE BEING TOLD HOW TO DO MY JOB.' and 'I DON'T KNOW IF I'M COMFORTABLE TO CONTINUE'. I apologized and told her I might have overreacted seeing my hair so ugly. Looking back, I really think I should have reacted more and at least saved my hair from getting shorter. The hairdresser put her own pride over the consumer's needs and failed in communicating effectively. 2. On the skill: I am not a professional in hairdressing. I cannot comment on the specifics of what I think went wrong. I understand people use different techniques. Just to comment on the process and result: My hair was cut while it was messy from sleep. No wash/layer/structuring before cutting. The hair was not clean-cut at the bottom. And with no proper layering or structure, it was asymmetrical in volume—too much hair in the front and not enough in the back. And the shape in the back was strangely ugly. The outcome was utterly disastrous. The hairdresser failed in delivering a reasonable result. The overall satisfaction: 2 stars for the chill vibe in the shop and the hairdresser's effort in 'making things right'. I have to give her credit for that, though it was too late and my hair was doomed. I was told I could go back if not satisfied. I don't think I will. I have to wear a hat for the following 2 months for the hair to grow out. A disastrous experience indeed.

Look, I’m a simple guy. I just want a decent haircut in a chill environment. Before Homegrown, I had tried other local barbershops and was generally underwhelmed. On a whim, I gave Homegrown a try. This is a seriously welcoming place where the stylists take some legit pride in their work, from the simplest men’s haircut to a full 3 hour makeover. Shout out to Evan! Homegrown is the only place I would recommend anyone I know get their hair cut.

Went to homegrown for the first time today for a haircut since it’s close to my house. My appointment was booked with stylist Kenna. She did such a good job and she was so sweet. Love the cut and the products she used left my hair soft and smelling great :)
