Absolutely LOVED my haircut by Meg! I got a curly cut - she very thoughtfully assessed my hair before cutting and then did the cut according to my wave/curl pattern. She really knew what she was doing and gave me the exact haircut I was wanting! She was also super nice and great to talk to and gave very valuable curly hair advice. The salon was also very cozy and cute. I would recommend Meg and this salon to anyone!

I’ve had my hair done by Gino twice and he is go-to for highlights, gloss/toner. I trust his knowledge and skills and have loved how my hair turned out both times. I like a bit of change in my hair but want to keep it low maintenance and Gino knows exactly what to do!

I booked a last-minute appointment for a blowout and ended up with Alex. She's great! Friendly and she did a wonderful job with my coarse, curly, unruly hair.

I was able to book a last minute haircut with Michelle and she did a great job! She listened to what I wanted and asked really good questions to make sure I could achieve the style on my own before she started cutting. Michelle also provided helpful recommendations on products and a routine I could build to make styling my hair easier. My hair looks great and she was able to cut achieve the look I was going for! I felt like I was in good hands with Michelle and would recommend her to others.

Alex has colored and cut my hair since they started their career in SF. Alex stays on top of all the color and hair trends. Alex is helping me navigate my resistant grays. Highly recommend Alex!

Great haircut by Alex! I have super thick, dark hair I like to keep short and Alex is the only stylist I've been to who has known how to cut it so it looks nicely textured.

I am so relieved to have finally found a salon in SF that does an amazing job, located so conveniently, reasonable prices, amazing atmosphere, and incredible stylists! In particular, Alex has saved my hair’s life on multiple occasions! I’m shocked how easy and convenient it is to get an appointment. I could not be happier – they are the absolute best at their craft and I look forward to my appointments with Alex every time!

I follow Alex (they/them) where ever they go! Alex is incredible. In my experience, I can say they are so talented at: 1) color correction 2) going from long hair to short 3) bob cuts that flatter wavy textures 4) bang trims and reshaping cuts as length grows out 5) natural-looking red/brown coloring that compliments your skin tone and vision 6) cutting hair that compliments wavy/curly texture 7) translating what I think I want into what I actually want (e.g., asking for a “choppy” look when what I really want is to accentuate my natural texture, where “choppiness” might not achieve that). Alex is incredibly thorough. They carefully dedicate the much needed time to make sure they have your vision understood completely and make sure that when they say it back to you that it’s precisely what you want before they even reach for the coloring bowl or scissors.

I found this salon because I needed an emergency color correction done before a trip. I reached out to them via email with pictures of my botched hair with a plea for an urgent apt. They were so kind, returning my email right away with an appointment to see Alex the next day. Alex was my hero who saved the day by getting my hair to a state where I could travel to Hawaii without needing to wear a hat to hide my hair the whole time. When I came back from my trip, I came back to see Alex for a more through/permanent color correction and a cut. I have long hair and am very picky with haircuts and Alex was able to confidently give me a hairstyle that I walked away loving. The color was perfect, subtle, and easy to maintain. Alex took my long locks and gave them body and dimension. I’m so stoked to have found a stylist in the city who I trust to both cut and color my hair (seems most people do one or the other well but Alex does both). Would highly recommend Alex to anyone!

I had one of the best haircut experiences of my life with Alex!! They were so thoughtful and patient about my hesitation to remove length, finding a perfect balance between making my hair look fabulously healthy but keeping so much of the length that I love. They also took the time to explain the science behind certain hair products and give me tips for my at-home haircare routine. It felt like true hair therapy! Can't wait to see them again for my next appointment 🙌

I've been going here for about 7 years now so this is long overdue. I just had the best experience with Alex who freshened up my blonde for my sister's wedding and I got so many compliments. Also just a wonderful experience in general. Definitely 10/10 recommend!

I’ve been trying salons around SF for ages, trying to find the perfect one, and I’ve finally found it! Honeycomb is amazing- everyone there is super friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I’ve had two stylists here, Michael and Alex, and I would 100% recommend both of them. Michael brought my hair from very long (and dead) to the short, pixiesque style I wanted. Lots of places would have taken one look at me and given me a bob or more feminine cut, but he listened and gave me what I wanted. Most recently, Alex did my haircut. Alex was amazing at figuring out what exactly I wanted (despite my clumsy attempts to articulate,) and gave it to me exactly, they even showed me how to style it easily! Most salons I’ve been to haven’t given me what I asked for, or have struggled with my thick wavy hair, but here at Honeycomb they’re pros! The services here are definitely on the pricier side, but for me it’s worth the money to know I’ll walk out feeling confident in the hairstyle I asked for.

Highly recommend booking with Megan. This was one of the best haircut experiences I've ever had. Meg not only listened attentively to my concerns and hair goals but is also incredibly knowledgeable. I am so happy with my current results. Walking out of the salon, I not only looked great but learned how to better care for my hair!!!

I have been searching for a good fit with a stylist since my previous one moved away and was lucky to grab an appointment on short notice at Honeycomb with Meg! The salon is a sweet little spot tucked away on 24th. I found Meg to be warm and welcoming, and very professional and skilled! She listened and asked clarifying questions as I described what I was looking for with my cut. She was direct and clear in setting expectations regarding her process (eg - using both razor and shears to cut), and she checked in with me during to confirm details and make sure it was aligning with my idea. And I have had multiple strangers comment on my cut and ask for her contact info - including a stylist looking for a stylist for herself. I’m so happy I found Meg!

Gino is amazing and great with blonde highlights! It has been over 6 months since I received color and a haircut and I was scheduled with Gino. The highlights were perfectly blended and my hair left the salon in great condition. The style was beautiful and it lasted for about a week. Looking forward to seeing Gino again soon.

I have been getting my hair done by Kat Castro since right before my wedding in 2007. She always does a fabulous job. She’s cut my hair short, trimmed it when it’s long, given me highlights, lowlights and all over color and done balayage. Everything turns out great! Plus, she’s usually able to fit me in when the mood strikes me to change my hair. I am her client for life!

My review is limited to an unfortunate experience with independent hairstylist, Katherine “Kat” Castro, and not any other stylist at Honeycomb. I booked the Divine Enlightenment Full Highlighting package (for blonde highlights to my naturally dark, but graying hair) but came away with a full head of blonde (barring the roots), with inconsistent brassy patches throughout my hair. The session took nearly twice as long as any cut/color appointment I’ve had over 18 years of dying my hair and cost more than three times I’ve ever paid living across three continents. Instead of working with me to understand where there might have been a miscommunication or misunderstanding to what I had wanted, Kat blamed my prior hairstylists for damaging my hair. She even involved another hairstylist at the salon, Rebekah, who seemed lovely and tried to offer alternate solutions to Kat (i.e., adding lowlights to counteract the brassiness in my hair) but Kat would neither budge nor negotiate an outcome befitting both of us. Her response was that as an independent stylist at Honeycomb, it was within her rights to charge me her own rates and not offer even a partial refund to the nearly $1,200 she charged me for damaging my hair or offer a conditioning session to ameliorate the structural damage to my hair. All in all, a perplexing, deflating, and – to be honest – disrespectful experience considering how accommodating the front desk staff (Danny) was when booking me in as a newcomer to the neighborhood.

I've been coming to Gino at Honeycomb Salon for about 2.5 years now and it's been a game-changer for my hair! First of all, Gino is an expert colorist and a total craftsman when it comes to all things style and cut. His passion for his work comes through both in the experience of the appointment and in the outcome. At our first appointment, he saw the opportunity to frame my face with a cut I hadn't had before, and to lighten my hair. I'm not kidding when I say that my hair has gone from something I was always trying to cover up to now one of the most common compliments I get. I also love how Gino communicates and is always looking to deliver the result you're happy with.

She didn’t cut my hair well. Despite telling her that my hair curls up and my forehead is small and that I want to wear my hair naturally without blow drying she suggested bangs. Given such high reviews here I thought she knew what she was doing. My hair cut looks like a mushroom if I don’t blow dry it. Bangs are hard to manage without straightening. She doesn’t know how to cut Indian thick hair.
