As an Atlanta native and having being serviced with many extraordinary stylist for different styles, this by far has been the most unprofessional stylist we have ever encountered. I had an appointment scheduled for $425 braids, which also needed $200 hair bundles for the ends. The unprofessional stylist cancelled 2 hours prior to my appointment time, with no reasoning or apology. I accepted that it must be something serious for her to cancel such last minute, and being that I had already purchased the hair bundles, I accepted her rescheduling of the following day. Only for her to cancel a second time at short notice. My mother had an appointment scheduled as well for a week later which she cancelled due to the uncertainties of this stylist being available. My mother’s deposit was not refunded, as the stylist said it would be. My mother waited 2 days after her scheduled appointment to give the stylist some time to refund, and upon asking about the deposit in a very respectful manner, the stylist was disrespectful, unprofessional, and rude giving condescending statements of “it’s not that serious” “cash app request me for the refund... never mind I don’t feel comfortable giving out my cashapp” “I’m happy we missed each other” I had no intentions of leaving a review after my incident, only of telling others I had shown her IG to not to bother booking with her. However, after her handling with my mothers refund, a review is needed due to a complete lack of professionalism.

I've been going to Mela since July '19. I even started bringing my 90y.o. grandma for a simple wash and blow dry because she has the most gentle, spa-like hands on earth (now she's spoiled and hates getting her hair washed by family due to her self-quarantine). Over the past year and some change I've gotten various styles done by Mela but her braids are always unmatched and is my personal favorite. I get thousands of compliments on how good my braids looks every time, even by men too. Like...as long as she's in Atlanta no one else is braiding my hair, period. I'm seriously surprised by some of these reviews because to know her is to love her (also when you give respect, you get respect but that's neither here nor there). Aside from being a great hairstylist she has a beautiful personality & spirit. If you've had a bad experience/cancellation just re-schedule and *respectfully* try again - it's always worth the wait.
