Ash did not listen to anything I wanted. I kept asking for my glasses so I could see the work she was doing but she kept say "hold on, let me do this" or "one second." So I couldn't see how much she messed my hair up until my styling was half over. I asked her to fix it and she refused. Then swore she could fix it. She kept saying stuff like "this is what's best suited for your hair", "wow, I love this idea, I'm going to do it this way, trust me." MASSIVE MISTAKE. She tied my hair in knots, used 17+ bobby pins, pulled my hair into a rats nest, and used gel concrete to put baby hairs on my skin i didn't want. Once she knew I was upset with it she kept telling me how "cool it looks" when she clearly had no idea how to do what I wanted. Over and over, "whoa, this little crown is sooo cool." I got nothing i wanted. The brides mom spent an hour removing my hair styling and then we spend two more trying to work with what we got. It delayed everything. All of the work I was supposed to be doing for the bride that night didn't get done and the wedding started late because of it. The bride and I cried when she saw it. I'm the maid of honor, Ash knew that. I can't believe Ash knew i wasn't happy with it and let me walk out the door looking like this. This is what I wanted vs this is what I got.

I love the artsy and welcoming ambience of Hug Salon, and I feel so fortunate for the magical session with Ash, a true Wizard! I have "vintage" hair and Ash's knowledge and talent along with an intuitive eye does wonders for my hair's health, color and appearance. Much appreciation!

I got to see Joe for my haircut and had an incredible experience. Joe is fun to chat with and listened to exactly what I wanted. I showed him pictures and he nailed it! Great shampoo and scalp massage, quality products, and the blow out he gave me to finish the cut was so nice I need to pay close attention to his technique next time! I have historically been extremely picky about my hair and have struggled to find a good match but I will definitely keep Joe around as long as I can.

I love this place. Comfortable vibe. Aesthetically it is great. Felicia is the best. She cuts great and gives great hair advice, plus I love her flower essence work through Primrose Apothecary.

I've been following Eilish to every salon she has worked at for the past two decades because she is THE BEST. When she opened Hug Salon I knew it would embody her creative talent and her warm and approachable personality, and it is all that and more! Go to appreciate the attention to detail in the artwork and a great conversation, and leave looking fabulous.

Stephanya is amazing! I've been going to her for 6 years and can't imagine seeing anyone else. As for HUG, their receptionist is the doggone best I've ever seen, and the whole space feels very welcoming

Such a lovely experience every time! I love Eilish. She is so good at styling my hair. I also love spending some concentrated time with her- I always leave feeling filled up. The salon is so pretty with great energy too. I’ve introduced several friends to this place & they’re super fond as well. Highly recommend!

After being unceremoniously dumped post divorce by my hair stylist, I found solace and a new home at Hug! Thank you to Joe for the absolutely fabulous haircut and delightful conversation. The location is prime, with neighborhood parking available even on a Friday. The salon is beautifully designed and for the first time, I didn’t feel like a swamp creature looking in the mirror after my shampoo. I left feeling as beautiful as my Mom tells me I am, on the inside.

Emmy is so kind & patient. She truly knows the meaning of a trim & will help you reach your long hair goals. Her men’s haircuts are wonderful as well. My husband always looks so sharp after seeing Emmy. Highly recommend!

I loved this salon. I saw Emmy and she gave so much time and attention to what kind of haircut I wanted. She helped me understand what she was going to do before she got started so I really felt like part of the whole process. This was my first time going here and I'll definitely be back!

LIED ABOUT BEING DISABILITY FRIENDLY AND DO NOT ALLOW SERVICE DOGS! I called the day before scheduling a consultation asking if they were disability and service dog friendly. I accidentally went in on the wrong day and was looked down upon and told later in text message they don't allow any dogs other then the one that worked there. I would not recommend going here at all: made me feel extremely unwelcomed and they don't have the stylist I had wants info updated so I called her not knowing they were not working. So went with the suggested person; if you are disabled and have a service dog do not go here.

Emmy is incredible with precision cuts and color, I went covid crazy and tried to bleach out black blue hair (it turned half pink) and she somehow has it looking amazing. Definitely worth a drive across town for her service!!!

Emmy is the bestest most fab ever. This place is amazing. Great staff very professional clean quick friendly. You need an appointment of course but its so worth it.

Ash has been my colorist/stylist for 4+ years in the Portland area. My hair is a wavy 2B and she's always engineered cuts that flatter my natural hair shape while zazzing up my wildest color dreams. We've done many a bleach and tone together and she always nails it and involves me in the process.

Ash has been styling my hair for over 5 years and she has never disappointed. In fact she always exceeds my expectations and I dont feel like she ever does the same thing. She keeps it fresh! Her talent for balayage is off the charts. I had not experienced a razor haircut before but I love how it gives my hair texture. Ash is creative genius for hair and really has a knack for coming up with a color or style that freshens your look while staying authentic to you. She is a wonderful woman as well with a kind and generous heart. I highly recommend her!

Ash is hands down the best hairstylist you could ask for. She is genuine, talented, and understands YOUR needs and personal style. The compliments I get after a visit to her speak to her professionalism and artistic eye. I trust her ability and style so much I have many times let her style, cut and color based on my low maintenance needs, without having to know what I want when I show up.

I found my hair soulmate in Ash! She is incredibly talented and so much fun to work with. I really value that Ash can work with anyone's hair texture and personal style to create a truly individual look. She is the jack of all trades. From bold precision cut lines, to intuitive razoring that really brings my wave to life. Ash is a color genius as well, I have done everything from funky to more subtle colors. The execution of her color placement gives my hair dimension, as if it could have grown that way naturally. Ash has very clear communication during our consultations, bring the vision for my hair together without ever compromising it's health. It must not go without mentioning that she can also does extensions, and gave me the 22 inch mullet of my dreams! So go check her new location out. Hug salon is a super cozy, creatively inspiring neighborhood spot. Everyone there is super friendly and inviting.
