JAN2025 Ok! Katie did it again. See my first review below. I haven’t colored my hair since I went blonde for a Meg Ryan look in the late 90s. I got back from a 6 month air craft carrier deployment and was feeling hazy and gray and needed a little vibrancy. Well, if Katie has taken care of you you KNOW she radiates vibrance! Again I was nervous because I’m outdoorsy and like to look natural. Well here I am at Mammoth skiing and loving how she heightened the best features of my curly locks. Up next! Beach curls for Spain! AUG2024 Katie is amazing! She has taken my hand through my curly hair adventure, as I conjure up the bravery to go from very very long curly locks to something shorter and more playful. Her skill with curly hair solidified my confidence to try new things. And keep coming back. But, more importantly, her authentic personality and honesty on whether picture references eill work with my hair have earned my loyalty. Katie is amazing!

I recently started working near this salon and needed a haircut. The staff was friendly, the look is sleek and inviting, and my stylist made my day. I'm so very happy with the service I received, I'm definitely going back. Whoever designed this place has a keen eye for detail which is a huge plus when it comes to getting your hair cut, colored or styled. 10 out of 10 all day!!

GO TO KATIE! Hear me out please: I have been going thru it. I moved here from Hawaii and I’ve been so isolated and sad, in and out of my very long-term relationship. I finally had the courage to leave, and that decision deserved new hair. Katie did my hair a year earlier as an audition and I said she could do whatever then, so I knew she wouldn’t make me look crazy. But OH MY GOODNESS, woman made me feel like a million dollars. I had a black eye and bandage on my face, and she still managed to make me feel beautiful. I’ve always had long dark hair. Any gal with long hair knows how attached we get to our security blanket. I said: “Do whatever you want - cut, color, go for it!” My hair is in this adorable layered bob at my chin, with copper, red and purple accents, and I have never had so many compliments! Plus now I wear my hair down all the time cuz it’s not super hot or flat with no body. I’m crying writing this. I cannot tell you how liberating it is to feel good after the ordeal I went through with someone I loved dearly but who couldn’t control his anger. I feel like a new woman and like I can take on the world. An artist like Katie should be in everyone’s life. Run! Before I book her for the rest of the year! 😁 And Katie, thank you from the bottom of my heart! See you soon!

Kris colored and styled my hair, and I couldn't be happier with the results! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcome here. Kris provided expert advice on what would suit my complexion and hair type, and the end result was exactly what I envisioned. The entire experience was relaxing and enjoyable, with a friendly atmosphere and top-notch service. I recommend Kris for anyone looking for a fantastic hair color experience.

I'll start by that my stylist was very nice, kind and friendly throughout the service. I also appreciate being accommodated last minute. However, I just can't get over how unhappy I am with the results of my blowout. I just had another done a bit over a week ago, so I know this is not because of hair texture or something of the sort. I have never ever had a blow out turn out this frizzy. It's very messy, like I didn't even have anything done - EVEN though I also had a hydrating treatment done right before. There are some spots that are still curly (from my natural hair), and the rest is just generally very frizzy... It looks and feels so much drier than normal. I got this done for an upcoming conference in San Diego, so I'm quite disappointed. I didn't notice these issues until I got home, so I didn't get a chance to mention it at the salon. Edit: Today (day after service), there's quite a bit of product build up in my scalp, which looks like dandruff. This usually happens when my hair is dirty. It feels heavy. This tells me that, even though we did a second shampoo, the scalp wasn't cleaned in depth... I'll need to wash my hair again soon, even though I can usually go several days without a wash.

Space is nice, Staff is friendly, but I visited the same stylist for cuts and color three times and decided to move away from this salon after the last. More of a churn and burn experience. I understand stylists work for themselves, but not leaving enough time to work on thick hair and just doing the bare minimum for top dollar is not good customer service. Didn't get what I asked for, didn't get my hair styled because she ran overtime, left underwhelmed and still in need of a proper cut. Disappointed overall.

The staff is helpful to schedule and the location is great. Usually during a morning appt. I can find parking available for cheap using the parking meters. I usually only get a haircut here, but Stephanie does a great job and pays attention to detail. The salon is beautiful and clean. They have a variety of products to buy for whatever hair needs you have (and probably more for other aesthetic needs). Their website is easy to use. I would absolutely recommend.

Unprofessional hair salon. They caused sever damage to my wife’s hair by an untrained staff that was recommended as a person specialized in hair transformation. Management did not accept any responsibility. Not a trustable place! Be aware!

Came just to grab a shampoo and the receptionists were super informative and welcoming. Davines and kerastase are my new favourites thanks to them! Looking forward to going back again.

I am very loyal to my stylists and have had only a few since starting to color my hair. My stylist recently moved and I was scheduled with a stylist new to the salon, Katie. Anyone who is a creature of habit could probably sense that this was a leap of faith, and it worked out in my favor to say the least. Katie brought my hair to the blondest it’s been in years in a safe way. She was spot on with my requests and was a great conversationalist. She is new to the San Diego area and her work speaks for itself! Can’t wait for my next appointment!

I got a haircut from Katie today and cannot say enough good things about the service. Where do I start? She was a great listener and was able to take some of my guidelines/hopes and layer in her expertise based on my hair texture, density, length, health, and preferred frequency of visits. While washing my hair she gave me a few minutes of a scalp, head and neck massage that went above and beyond what I've had previously at salons. She was really friendly and easy to be with especially after a long day of work, which made the whole process comfortable and seamless. She elicited feedback throughout the cut and was really tuned in to my preferences and requests. And, at the end provided helpful information about haircare based on my requests (rather than trying to sell me something) and gave me contact information in case I had follow up questions for her. A++ from start to finish!

I’ve been a client of Katie’s for over 10 years. She recently moved to San Diego, and I was thrilled that she could fit me in for a cut while I was visiting the area with family over the holidays. If anything is an indicator of a professional’s talent and abilities, it’s customer loyalty, and no one other than Katie has touched my hair in over a decade! Katie is a curly hair person’s dream stylist. She masterfully tailors her wide set of tools and techniques to match each clients’ individual hair and needs, and she does it all seemingly effortlessly with a smile on her face and a great skill for meaningful conversation (if you want to chat). Hyde Edwards salon clearly knows how to attract (and retain!) top talent. All the staff seem happy to be there, and I know Katie is thrilled to have landed amongst such wonderful, talented humans.

Katie is amazing with cut and color. I have curly hair so it’s always a challenge to find somebody who knows what they are doing! I have been going to her for years and get so many compliments on how natural my color looks. Plus she’s an awesome person!

Went for my first time this week and had a very happy experience with Katy. She was delightful and positive and did an excellent job working with the natural wave and texture of my hair. I appreciated that she didn't try to straighten it to cut and style as so many do. I already booked my next appointment.

This is both Lindsey and Brandon's go to for a haircut! Located in Little Italy, Hyde Edwards is the best place in San Diego to do any type of styling or nail treatment. Be sure to ask for Nicole Alex for a great hairstyle!
