Absolutely wonderful experience. Been looking for a good barber ever since moving back to Missouri and I found my place. Sarah who gave me the cut was fantastic, listened to what I wanted and took her time for a great price. Will 100 percent be back.

First impressions of this salon was great, very friendly staff, very aesthetically pleasing. Came here to get a shampoo and blow dry with Alyx… and let’s just say they don’t know how to work with textured hair. Shampoo was okay, didn’t feel like my scalp was super clean but whatever! Got in the chair for the blow dry and it was embarrassing for me, didn’t take time to part my hair to blow dry, just pulling my whole head of hair with a brush. Owner/Manager was nice, didn’t charge for the service. Like I said, staff was great. Had to go home and style and cut my hair myself. Definitely do your research on stylists who can work on textured hair!

I was in STL for work and was hesitant to see a different barber at first. After my visit, I’d recommend Matt to anybody. Very professional and perfected my haircut and beard trim. 11/10. Great ownership and great environment as well.

Alyx was amazing with my hair transformation! I went from a dull ginger color, to a gorgeous, deep, rich mahogany red! The salon was very inviting with a super cool, hip vibe! I felt relaxed, enjoyed a beer and absolutely love my end results!

I called Idle Hands in tears over a really bad haircut (from another salon) and basically begged them for help. The staff was so, so kind to me, and did everything they could to get me in as quickly as possible. When I walked in the door I was immediately offered a beverage and taken care of. My stylist, Sarah, was a wonderful listener and understood what I wanted to change about the haircut. And although there was really no way to salvage it from the first debacle, Sarah did an incredible job of restoring my confidence and making me feel 1,000x better in a matter of an hour. She was kind, thoughtful, careful, and very calculated with the decisions she made. Having come to her with a terrible cut, I am so amazed at how she was able to fix things the BEST that they possibly could have been fixed, and was honest with me about what I’ll need to do for the future. She is a gem, and she has a permanent client in me now. Not only was my experience with Idle Hands one of the most pleasant I’ve ever had at a salon, I was not expecting for them to go over the top and refuse to let me pay for my haircut. I fully expected to pay, but they insisted on helping me and correcting the issue from ANOTHER SALON…for free. Absolutely unreal. I cannot recommend Idle Hands enough. My husband will now be going. Anyone I know will be getting a recommendation. If I could take my dog there for a cut, I would.

I moved to Soulard recently and was faced with the always slightly daunting task of finding a new hair stylist. Sarah was recommended to me by a trusted source to cut my hair, and boy was I glad I did! Sarah listened to what I asked to be done with my hair and executed it to perfection. She is the needle in the haystack. The salon itself is quite charming and the staff and atmosphere are warm and welcoming. The St. Louis community is lucky to have Idle Hands and a stylist like Sarah. Thank you for the amazing cut!

Alyx is amazing at what she does. I came in with barely any idea of what I wanted and not only was she super patient with helping me decide and explaining everything to me, but she gave me a fantastic haircut. Very excited to come back!

Great local hair salon ran by a husband and wife. Super laid back atmosphere and while I've gone to see Jenn (co-owner), for many years and love the haircuts and chats we have, the few other times I've gotten haircuts from various other stylists have been just as good. They have a well-stocked fridge so you can get whatever drink you want during the cut or a coffee if it's earlier in the day! Highly recommend!

LOVE this salon!! Walking distance from my apartment, always very clean, nice aesthetic but not so nice you feel like you’re underdressed to get your haircut. Seems pretty family friendly too, I frequently see parents bringing their kids in. Highly recommend Austin!!!

This is my first time going to Idle Hands. Mat H is an incredibly talented barber and really takes the time to listen to the customer and deliver the perfect haircut. His skill and hospitality is amazing, and he’s everything you could ask for!

Well typically it's a little nerve-wracking finding a new place to get your hair cut..but as soon as I walk through the door of idle Hands all of those feelings went away. Everybody was smiling and very friendly and welcoming. I was set up with Sara, she took me in and took absolute great care of my hair. She said that she's only been cutting for about 7 months but this cut that I just got says otherwise.. the attention to detail in the time she took on my cut was absolutely incredible. I will definitely be back!

Had a really great time here. Layla gave me a great cut, best I’ve had in YEARS. Also the whole place has an incredibly welcoming atmosphere. The owner was working the front desk and was so genuinely kind, offering me a drink and making sure I was comfortable. Hands down the best experience I’ve had getting my haircut. K I’m done now…go get your hair cut here!
