Kaytlin is the absolute best! A true hair sorceress! I was introduced to her amazing work by a coworker whose hair always looked perfect, and who credited it all to Kaytlin and her extension/coloring skills. 2 weeks later, I had my first appointment at Illuminate Beauty and never looked back. I had the same hair lady for over 20 years, and when she moved to the West Coast I had tried multiple new hair people all over nyc (was living there at the time), and was always disappointed until I met Kaytlin. First of all, she fully converted me to the IBE extensions lifestyle!! I was always disappointed with my fine, limp hair that never holds a style, and apparently all I needed was a professional like Kaytlin to tellme it was as easy as 2 wefts of hair to give me that extra natural volume; extensions are not just for length people!! I also run a super busy restaurant in McLean, so I rarely have time to get my hair done (every 3.5 to 4 months), and the way she colors my hair (natural brunette to bottle blonde), the grow out is SO NATURAL!!! It literally never looks like I NEED to get my hair done.. just amazing! Bottom line, Kaytlin and her whole Illuminate Beauty Studio team are hair geniuses, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND converting to this cute boutique salon!!

Alyssa is AMAZING. I’ve had extensions, basic color/cut, and now a full on color correction with her. She is patient, kind, and SKILLED. (She’s also extremely fairly priced). I was lucky to find her, thankful for her work, and look forward to future services with her. I feel like “me” again now that she’s lifted a root melt and brought my hair to a dimensional state. I’ve had this kind of work done in the past and others have added a lot of cost when the word “correction” is involved. Alyssa took the stress out of this. It felt like a normal service, routine day, just making people feel beautiful. (And I know it was A LOT of actual work on her end, to assess, foil, research, pivot a bit— and solve). She basically took dark and light color from horizontal to vertical. I highly recommend.

I got a haircut/color gloss with Alyssa and I am so happy with the results. As soon as you come in the place is clean, beautifully decorated and extra kudos for the wall of TSwift records. Alyssa was really cool and brainstormed some options of what I was looking for in correcting my color and style. I highly recommend illuminate beauty studio and will definitely come back in the future!

Kaitlyn at Illuminate is the only stylist and colorist that I trust with my hair. The salon is gorgeous and clean. Kaitlyn has an uncanny ability to turn inspo photos into real life hair. The hair products she offers are also top notch. I HIGHLY recommend illuminate for all of your hair needs.

I have had previous extensions but this salon - product and process - is by far superior to any other I have experienced. I drive 45 min to get my extensions and hair done and it is so well worth the trip. Special shout out to Alyssa.

Kaytlin and Alyssa are extension gurus and their work is amazing. I used to travel for extensions and I’m so thankful to have such great talent available locally. They are super committed to their clients and passionate about the end result . They’ve always gone the extra mile to make sure I leave happy and feeling good about the way I look. Beyond that these ladies create great energy in the salon which is really important when you are sitting in a chair for a few hours! Hands down the best place you can go for extensions.

The minute I walked into Illuminate Beauty Studio I knew I was In great hands! The salon is very warm and welcoming, with the cutest vibe! There are complimentary snacks and drinks, as well as a Taylor Swift music station while you get your hair washed! Every bit of my experience was amazing. Kaytlin is so personable, and she is very knowledgeable/informative with everything you need to know about hair, extensions and products! She is genuinely passionate about helping her clients reach their hair goals. She is a true expert!! Highly recommend coming here if you want an 11/10 experience. Thank you Kaytlin!!!

I have been going to see Kaytlin for almost 3 years. She is nothing short of magical when it comes to color. She is the best at asking questions, learning what you love and what bothers you about your hair and helping you to love your hair again. She's also not afraid of going in new directions (my yearly blue pops of color for diabetes awareness always look amazing). She's a wonderful person who remembers you and your family and makes your time in her chair one of pampering and relaxation. I wish I could give more than the 5 stars I have! Highly recommend!

I want to preface my review, by saying that this review is LONG overdue. Before becoming client of hers, I had just lost my previous stylist of 15 years, to a relocation. I tried two other hair stylists, trying to achieve my desired color of blonde, and nobody could get me to the platinum color I once had. I was left with brassy color and a lot of breakage. My hair became super thin, in appearance, due to the level of breakage I had. So, based on reviews I had read about Kaytlin, I decided to meet with her for an initial consultation. I was immediately impressed with the level of detail they put into their client experience. I first completed a questionnaire to provide insight into my hair concerns, prior to my consultation. Then they send you reminder emails AND an appointment form to tailor your appointment experience to make it a relaxing and enjoyable experience – down to what music you want to listen to and what beverage you would like upon arrival. I was only going for a consult, initially, and already I felt welcomed and appreciated. Kaytlin laid out an honest hair care plan, for achieving my desired color and adding hair extensions to encourage better hair growth. The plan was so detailed, and even after a few appointments with her, she remembers specific details about my desired color and hair goals. My hair color is back to the beautiful platinum color I love, and the extensions are allowing my natural hair to grow back in successfully. Just a note on the extensions – I love them!! I had the 20” extensions put in and I always get so many compliments on my hair. Maintenance is not difficult, and the end result is well worth the investment. I feel confident with my hair again, and Kaytlin and Alyssa made that happen. Their quality of service is stellar and if I could give them 10 stars I would. I can see why some of their clients drive upwards of 3 hours to see them. I would do that same. I’m so glad that I found these two – Kaytlin and Alyssa make every appointment so positive. You walk out feeling like a rockstar every time!! Thank you both!!!

Kaytlin does magic with hair!! No way I would’ve achieved this look for my wedding without her talent. Would never go anywhere else. Even though after moving to VA, I still drive to see her in MD because it is worth the long drive! Not only she makes my hair always look gorgeous but customer service is also excellent! Highly recommended! Would give more than 5 stars if I could 🙌🏼

UPDATE: I have now been coming to Kaytlin for 3 1/2 years- because she is THAT good. The health of my hair and scalp has improved so much that I went from two rows of extensions to just one. The salon has a welcoming upscale vibe. I have been coming to Kaytlin for color and extensions for well over a year. I drive in from Harrisburg. She is THAT good. I am always thrilled with my color and she goes a meticulous job with my extensions. Kaytlin is an absolute delight and the salon is beautiful. I feel so relaxed and pampered every time I visit.

I’m so thankful I found Kaytlin!! She literally saved my hair. I’ve tried every type of hair extension with other stylists in the past and it had always resulted in damage. IBE extensions have been the best thing for my fine hair (which has started to grow longer and become healthy again). Kaytlin is a perfectionist with color and does the absolute best blonde! Alyssa is also great and did a wonderful job on my teen daughter’s balayage. I drive over an hour to see Kaytlin because she is that amazing. I’ll never go anywhere else!

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I’ve had so many different types of extensions and stylists over the years. Kaytlin installed invisible bead extensions on me. After a detailed consult; and one more month of growth needed (my hair was short!) she worked her amazing talent and gave me amazing hair with highlights that blend perfectly!!!! I will never go anywhere else! My head doesn’t itch, it’s not tight, very comfortable and easy to style/brush/care for! On top of the talent Kaytlin has, her personality is so much fun, you will love her! She and Alyssa are THE DREAM TEAM!! Go see them! You will not be disappointed!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I went to Kaytlin for about a year for my extensions (IBE). She was AMAZING! My move ups were always smooth and if there ever was in issue she truly went out of her way to fix it. If I didn't move I would never stop going to her! Highly recommend :)

I love the homey feel of the office and how welcome I feel when I walk in. Best haircut and waxing experience I've had probably ever!

I honestly wish I could give Kaytlin more than 5 stars. She has been doing my hair for several years. We were paired up by complete luck. I wanted to chop my hair off and the stylist I had booked with called in sick. I was crushed but the very lovely lady I spoke with when notified (Paige) told me that if I was looking to make a drastic change and chop my hair off that Kaytlin was THE WOMAN to do it.... and boy was she right! Kaytlin is an absolute master at her craft- color, cut, styling and now extensions, she kills it every time. Each appointment is personalized and you don't have to share the space, time or attention with anyone else. Not only does she do great hair, she makes a delicious cup of coffee too! On top of all of that, she is just as sweet as she is talented. I cannot recommend treating yourself to a service with Kaytlin enough. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

I met with Kaytlin to discuss extensions I wanted for an upcoming wedding. She was right on time (maybe even a little early), maintained great communication leading up to and throughout the appointment, and helped me figure out what would be best for me & my hair. Ultimately we decided that extensions weren’t the best fit for me at this time, and she was super helpful in discussing different options with me. I appreciated that she was honest and didn’t put any pressure on me during our consultation. She does amazing work and I would recommend her to anyone looking for extensions!
