I received electrolysis hair removal from both Cris and Genesis (mostly Genesis) over the course of about a year or so. Initially, the appointments were quite dense as I had a lot of hair, but after a few months they reduced to every 4 weeks or so. Overall, I am happy with the results of the hair removal. I was able to get the coverage I needed and will likely go back for future appointments as they're the closest practice to where I live. A few comments, though: - The numbing injections can be expensive, especially if you're resistant / non-responsive to a particular kind of numbing. I had this happen where some sessions were incredibly painful and I ended up needing nearly 10 shots over a 2 hour session. At $10 a shot, that quickly shot the price up. - Ask your PCP for prescription numbing cream. It will help a bit, and especially so with the numbing injections. - Given the above, if you can travel, I have heard of a place in Dallas that does not charge for numbing injections. (Or, at least, doesn't charge separately. I believe the place was E3K?) I know some people who set up long sessions and will travel from Austin to Dallas due to the faster coverage and free numbing injections. - Either way, staying hydrated, moisturized, and avoiding caffeine will all help with the process. The sessions I forgot to stop caffeine a few days in advance were the more painful ones. In the end, IBC does good work. I'd recommend the place to anyone looking for electrolysis specifically in Austin.

I have strawberry blonde hair and was scared I could never get hair removal successfully done because of my hair color. But goodness was I wrong. Cris did an incredible job removing my hair and making me feel comfortable in a somewhat vulnerable situation. I’m so happy I came to International Beauty Center. I initially found Cris because I was looking for an electrologist and she was located close to home - the convenience was a real perk. But now I would be willing to travel long distances to receive her services! She's professional, meticulous, and most importantly, her work speaks for itself. I've never had results like these before! I've moved on from electrolysis to try other treatments and the results have been AMAZING. I'm so thankful she just happened to be nearby, because she's incredible at what she does!

I was looking to get hair removal before a tattoo and had heard about electrolysis. I knew very little about it, but I contacted Cris and she scheduled a consultation. She patiently went through the theory, the practice, all the details very thoroughly. The treatments were very effective. The removed hair has not come back. That is most important. But also, the office was spotlessly clean, atmosphere professional, and Cris's "tableside" manner was pleasant and reassuring. I definitely recommend electrolysis for truly permanent hair removal. And if you choose to go the electrolysis route, I highly recommend going with International Beauty Center.

IBC is bar-none the best electrolysis experience you can ask for. (1) Staff. Every technician here is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and seems to know the perfect amount of conversation to have to make both the silence and the chatting peaceful. I was getting a particularly sensitive area done, so it was really awesome that Genesis and Cris made me feel so at ease every session, and got such amazing amounts of work done every session. (2) Cleanliness. I have been to a number of electrolysis clinics, and this is the absolute cleanest clinic I have been to that maintains any level of comfort and cuteness. All of the supplies are organized, everything is clearly sterilized before and after each appointment, the staff all wear masks, etc.--this place makes a borderline germ-fearer such as myself feel completely comfortable--I often feel like the dirty one here. (3) Expertise. Every member of the staff knows so much about all of the different procedures offered, and is so patient in explaining them in depth to a novice such as myself. I have unusual hair, and the amount of information I was able to learn from the people here was astounding, when many other electrolysis technicians and experts never so much as told me that my hair was different! The owner, Cristina Navarrete, is such a wealth of knowledge that is baffling--and that is hard to come by even in the best of electrolysis clinics. Cris has dedicated her life to this craft, and has not only experienced the wonders of electrolysis personally, but has brought this gift to people all around the world. (4) Atmosphere. The outside of this place is just like any other health office (which made it hard for me to pick out the right building my first visit), but the interior has a warmth and near homey-ness that is unmatched in my experiences with both health and cosmetic professionals. There are soothing features such as plants, rocks, and knick knacks all about the pastel-painted office. Each room has a television and speaker for a personalized experience for each client. The entire vibe of the place is very relaxed, and lends to a soothing experience (which makes a big difference when getting these scary procedures done!). (5) Ownership. Cris is (a) one of the most impressive people you've ever heard of, and (b) one of the coolest people I've ever met. She has very literally dedicated her life to hair removal, and has both an educational knowledge and an awesome skill that come only with decades of precise practice. She truly is unmatched in her ability to completely painlessly remove even the finest of hairs from the most sensitive of places--with a rapidity that is unlike any technician you have ever been to. It is impressive to watch--which you completely forget to do because she makes you so relaxed while going through this process. Every session with Cris was an absolute pleasure (and how often can you say that about a business' OWNER??). (6) Price. For the level of quality this place offers, it is a wonder that it is the same price or cheaper than other clinics all over Texas. Extremely reasonable, and I always felt like every second of my time that I paid for was completely accounted for and absolutely worth it. Thank you so much, Cris! <3

As I approach the last phase in my hair removal journey, International Beauty Center has been my “go to” location. After moving here two years ago and trying one other place closer to my home, the longer drive is SO worth it. Why is it worth it? The biggest reason is the aftercare that goes into each session. I’ve seen Cris, Alicia, and Genesis. Between the three of them, I have been able to find times that fit my schedule and the specialized parts I’ve wanted to focus on. I also love that I can book online. Highly recommend!

I would not recommend International Beauty Center and would advise all perspective new clients to think twice before giving them a try. I had a 50 min electrolysis session with Alicia on January 8th. Alicia was extremely inexperienced in providing electrolysis and was not trained. For the amount of money this business charges (compared to other providers in Texas), it was a gut punch to receive this level of inexperience. Alicia spent the entire session switching between needles, trying to insert the probes into the follicle and ultimately abruptly ended the session since she could not provide the service. I have been getting electrolysis for the past 2 years and have seen several other providers elsewhere and have never had an issue before. Despite Alicia apologizing and admitting how awful the session went, the owner Cris refused to provide a refund and did not take accountability for the experience.

Ive been struggling for years to find someone to help me with my unwanted hair. Cris is so knowledgeable and professional. She explained to me that my previous laser hair removal was not permanent and that electrolysis would be permanent. Cris gave me proper pre treatment and post treatment instructions, she gave me detailed directions on how to find her location, and she lets me relax while she does her craft. I’m so excited to have found Cris. She truly cares and understands how unwanted hair can mess with one’s confidence. I even have my husband seeing Cris.-)

It has been almost one year since my starting treatments with Cristina, and "satisfied" would be an understatement of how grateful I am for having met her! At the onset of our first session, I got the sense that I would be in good hands, as she listened intently, provided feedback where applicable, then put into motion her expertise through solid technique and attention to detail. By the end of that session, it was evident that I was in great hands! Competency and efficiency are what matter most to me, and Cristina has them in spades. Additionally, she creates a comfortable ambiance at her working station, and overall, the studio is calm and well-maintained. Cris at International Beauty Center is an angel straight from heaven. I have been dealing with a full on beard of thick dark facial hair for almost 10 years now, shaving every single morning just to have a 5’o’clock shadow by the early evening. My confidence was so broken from having to deal with this. When I learned about electrolysis, I thought for sure it was too good to be true, that it wouldn’t actually work for me, and that I was stuck like this forever. I did a ton of research to find the best technician because I didn’t want to risk having someone who didn’t 100% know their stuff messing with my face. That’s how I found Cris and the International Beauty Center. When I got on the phone with Cris, her compassion, personal electrolysis experience, deep understanding and care shone through. She assured me that the electrolysis treatment would work for me. I was in tears on the phone with her, still not really believe if…. But now, I’ve had 3 appointments and the difference is growth is astounding!! I am so happy and pleased, and am excited to continue treatments to the finish line and finally be facial hair FREE!! I feel so hopeful for the first time. Though electrolysis is a considerable investment of money and time, it is WORTH IT, and Cris is the best there is. I have been diagnosed with PCOS. Unfortunately, one of my biggest symptoms is facial hair. I have been getting electrolysis with Cristina for a few months now and the results are Aaammmazzing. She's definetly a master of her work. Im so glad that I found this place! After looking at many other places I finally decided on IBC because of the before and after photos. The relief of not having to pluck my hairs everyday is undescribable. I highly recommend this place if you want awesome results.

I wanted to start off by saying that when I first started coming here is when I first tried electrolysis to begin with. So I was going into treatments with no experience or knowledge on how it’s supposed to feel/heal. But now that I’ve moved out of state and have been able to try a new electrolysis office I can assure you international beauty center isn’t the place to go to (I can’t speak for Chris as I’m sure her work is amazing considering the amount of support she receives, but the other electrologist seem a little inexperienced). I ended up receiving several treatments over the course of a couple months here. I did not see even the slightest bit of a change in hair growth or it’s density. After my first couple treatments I was asked if it hurt and I said that it didn’t hurt it felt more like my hair was getting plucked (not knowing how it is actually supposed to feel I thought that was a normal thing you’re supposed to feel). I was told it was because my hair beds were too dry so the current wasnt able to cauterize the follicle correctly. Which seemed strange to me because I moisturize my face multiple times every day and stay hydrated always. She raised the settings where I was still feeling the plucking sensation but also an extreme burning sensation from the current. It was just a way stronger current and my face recovery after showed that. After that appointment I was canceled on and told to try another electrologist that worked that day. She didn’t give him the setting she was using on me so he I guess did what he felt was necessary. His settings seemed 100x higher than what the girl used on me it had to have been the most painful hour of electrolysis I’ve had to date. But I didn’t feel a single hair pluck sensation. My face was swollen and was covered in pus sores for over a week after that appointment. I’m truly glad I didn’t end up with permanent craters in my face because I’ve heard horror stories. I tried the original girl I booked with one last time and she kept making calls in between my appointment which I think took up some of my time I paid for which is strange? Still felt the plucking sensation. Saw 0 results. I thought it was somehow my fault because of how thick my hair was. I felt like I would never be able to fix it. I moved to California shortly after and recently restarted my electrolysis journey because my hair honestly seemed worse than it did before I started electrolysis in Texas. I’m only 3 treatments in compared to several months of treatment here. The settings used on me aren’t unbearably painful I’m not leaving with a swollen sored up pus face that lasts over a week. I don’t feel any plucking sensation and when I do very rarely she notices it herself and is very apologetic (which to me tells me a lot about my past experiences). If there’s a hair that doesn’t just slip out she reinserts and reapplies the current until it releases. She doesn’t just pull it out. It’s been 2 weeks since my last treatment and I have almost no hair growth and the shots that do grow are so much thinner than before. (Again only 3 treatments in) It’s not about using the highest power to get results faster it’s about proper placement of the needle into the follicle for the current to line up and properly cauterize it. After this experience I feel like I was paying someone a lot of unnecessary money to do what I could’ve done at home myself. Pluck my hair and make the situation worse. Also not related to this practice what so ever, but during my first treatment here the electrologist got a call from the police department because her son had sent around some girls nudes from school. (Lots of phone calls during every treatment) She was venting to me about how it wasn’t fair because "it’s not like the girl is innocent why was she even sending those photos". Strange.

IBC- is worth it. I am a black woman that struggled with hormonal facial hair. I tried waxing, plucking, shaving and laser. Everything was just temporary. I was referred to Cris because she could work with my “type” of hair. I was skeptical but went and have never regretted the decision. My hair is GONE!!! It look about 18 months total. I go for a service maybe once a year or so due to hormonal fluctuations. I have confidence that I haven’t had in forever!!! Trust me. Take a chance- you won’t regret it.

I’ve been seeing Cris since March. Her work is good from what I can tell, as for the most part the hair on my chin and lip is gone now after 6 sessions. I’m new to electrolysis though, so I have nothing to compare it with. However today was our last session together and she appeared to be in a bad mood. She was running late which didn’t bother me but when I spoke to her she barely acknowledged me or what I was saying. When it was time to pay, instead of collecting her fee, she started cleaning down her work supplies and table very thoroughly. We travel pretty far to see her so it surprised me she wasn’t taking care of the customer first and then cleaning her table and supplies. There was no one else in the building so she didn’t have any clients waiting. When I left a tip that was more than 20 percent and thanked her, she responded with a very short curt “you’re welcome.” I wanted to ask her another question since this was our last session but I decided to pass on it and leave because she seemed upset. It might have been something personal in her life and had nothing to do with me but she was letting this affect her demeanor which is usually friendly and professional. This why I only gave her four out of five.

So I received about 7 or 8 appointments. At first I felt like maybe the results were good but after treating the same small area about 5 times and still not feeling like I’m seeing much improvement I ended up changing places and after 2 appointments I am seeing a difference over there. One thing I will say is after my appointments here at International, my skin always looked well and cleared of redness after about 2 days. Where as now I get it done somewhere else and it’s about it a week before my skin looks normal again so that’s something to consider, that the turn around time is quick here at International. I don’t think it was doing nothing, but after having spent like maybe $800 give or take I was hoping to see that I could at least reduce shaving and that wasn’t really happening. Maybe it would work for someone else but I would say if it’s 4 appointments in and you’re not seeing results maybe a different machine would work better on you elsewhere. Very clean place though too.

Excellent! Cristina works with all hair types - as a Black-American with very curly hair that leads to ingrowns, her expertise is vital. I'm pleased to say she's exceeded my expectations - I saw great results after just one appointment! She's very well researched, accommodating and professional with decades of experience catering to ALL clients, so if you're going to invest in these treatments International Beauty is the place to start.
