I didn’t have the greatest experience here, I went in for a silk press & a hair cut. There was a stylist that did detangling and she was amazing. I then started my silk press and then it was time for a hair cut, I advised Shauna to cut off my dead ends. My hair was down to my belly button almost and it was cut to just below my shoulder. I was pretty upset by this and even reached out to get the video she took of my damaged hair, it’s been two weeks no response. So for that I’m super upset with my hair cut it looks terrible and it was a very blunt cut, I can admit my hair was damaged but not to the extent of such a short hair cut. I’m pretty upset still and hate my hair. I won’t be returning.

Shanna and Lanelle were the two stylists that worked on my daughter and I. First of all, they so kindly agreed to take my daughter in on extremely short notice. They both did an amazing job on both of our hair, provided great recommendations for products as well as protective styles, and are so knowledgable on all things 4C hair. My hair feels brand new! This was a very comfortable and enjoyable experience and we cannot wait to go back.

This was my second bad experience with this stylist. The first time, she dyed my hair the wrong color but handled it professionally, it was okay overall. The second time, she gave me an uneven cut during a trim and blow-dry. I’ve tried reaching out to fix it, but her communication is terrible, she keeps pushing appointments back (I literally sat in the shop for hours & she decided not to fix my hair) and so far she hasn’t followed up. While I’m grateful for her time a nd effort, I feel like this experience is unprofessional & I should be treated like a regular costumer regardless of circumstances(I was willing to pay but she insisted it be free) . Now I’m stuck with uneven hair that would’ve took about 10 minutes to fix :(. Response: Hello, I appreciate your response, but I need to clarify a few points. The service was complimentary, and you are fully aware of who I am, as we spoke several times over the phone. Each time, you repeatedly postponed fixing the issue, which left me with no choice but to correct it myself. As a student at UT, my time is limited , and this experience was unnecessarily frustrating. My review was not intended to request further service but to highlight the unprofessional handling of the situation in hopes it encourages you to improve your communication and reliability with future clients. Thank you.

I found It Girls Hair Studio while looking for a new braid salon in Austin and I love how my knotless braids came out! I love that the appointment included a wash/blow out as well. I'd definitely recommend anyone looking to get braids done to come here!

I loved my experience at this salon. From my arrival to departure, Shanna and Jessica were both amazing. My hair looked alive and beautiful again. I got a silk press on my natural hair and a trim. The salon is super cute and nicely laid out and clean. It's hard to find good, available black hair stylist and they are IT. I would definitely go back!

First time client. Shanna, Denisha, and Mark were all very welcoming and have a great environment. The vibes were vibing! I love my braids. I have been looking for a black owned hair studio for so long and am very happy to say I will be returning. My braids are the best I’ve ever had done. The only thing I wish is that they were a little shorter like I had originally wanted but I ended up loving them longer so it all worked out. Worth the price which honestly wasn’t that bad. I highly recommend It Girls Hair Studio. You will not be disappointed.

My overall experience was amazing from upon entering the shop and be greeted with a warm welcome. I really enjoyed the overall feedback and hair care service from Mr. Mark to the end of the styling process. He is truly passionate about his craft, it is shown through his work. He was very insightful and took head in listening to my concerns about my hair care. This place of business has really good intentions in caring for an overall healthy hair journey. So I’ve been looking for a black owned hair salon in Austin for literally like ever and I thank God that I was able to find this gem. I went in for a women’s haircut and a silk press. First things first can we give a shout out to their hair Stylists who still wash hair? Because baby not only was I washed, I was deep conditioned and blown out. And chileee let me tell you my coins practically jumped out my purse. Money well spent. Mark ended up doing my haircut. What a phenomenal Individual. Everything he does is so Graceful. The professionalism that I experienced at IT Girl hair studio definitely does not go unnoticed. I will definitely be back.

I got a sew in from Shanna and I am in love! The braid down wasn’t to light the sew in is sturdy and tight and the hair is beautiful which she was able to order for me! The products that were used smelled amazing also, Although there was a little confusion on the my appointment, she still made it work and I left satisfied. Will definitely be coming back!

My original appointment was supposed to be at 6pm with Shanna. I wasn't taken care of until 9pm and the outcome of my hair wasn't what I wanted. I told her that my top/front hair isn't what color I asked for and she said to come back a different day to get that fixed because it is too late. We set an appointment time for Monday the next week at 5pm and when I got there, she said she didn't have my color toner and she misunderstood what I wanted to change. She told me to come on Tuesday at 11am so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and agreed to that. I got a call on Tuesday morning telling me to come in at 2pm now because she didn't have time to get my color tone. I explained to her that I am working and I cannot be changing my availability like that all the time because she isn't able to get the color for me at the right time. Even then, I agreed to come back at 2pm. When I reached there she said she was going to get the color now and told me to wait in my car. I waited for an hour and she never came back. I called and texted and didn't receive a response back. The owner of the studio answered at one point and said she went to grab supplies and got her wallet taken away so she called the cops and now is waiting on that. I could not believe that it was happening and I never heard from her again. I would not recommend this place professionalism wise and if you want your time wasted, that's the only way you should be coming here. I would save your time and money and go somewhere where there is professionalism and the stylist actually respects your time. I've never been more furious and unsatified with any experience than this. Good Luck if you do go here!!

Shanna is amazing, extremely accommodating and very knowledgeable when it comes to hair texture and care! I have been a consistent client for about four months now. She takes such great care of my hair and it’s been growing like never before. I can feel and see how healthy my hair has become since coming here.
