A classic Chinese hair salon experience: *Great value for price: I got color hair cut shampoo for 60$ with long hair. Simple dry hair cut for 9/15$. *Focus on their craft: The stylists seem a bit older with an older customer base, they are very experienced and friendly. The place itself is messy and the interior is worn, don't expect anything to post about. *Experienced with Asian hair: I have very voluminous straight Asian hair and 99% of hairstylists don't do well with that, I'm very happy with the result. I also saw customers of other ethnicities mainly white/hispanic walk out happily. *Communication: they speak Cantonese, some Mandarin and limited English, ideally show them a reference picture of what you want on the phone, for men they have a print out of hairstyles in the salon you can point at. Communication is minimal, don't expect to be asked about your day, I appreciate that, I go to get my hair done not to socialize, although if you speak Cantonese/Mandarin you can socialize with other customers while waiting. *Drop in: just walk in, tell them what you want and wait in line on a little bench until it's your turn, there's no appointment, even though there were 2-3 people before me I only waited 10 minutes or so. As a person with unruly Asian hair, I really just care about what my hair looks like after. This place is a gem and I'm really happy places like this still exist in this economy.

The prices to cut hair is super affordable and this is the place where I've been going to. They deserve a big tip for how affordable the service is. I got my hair layered and I only needed to pay 12 dollars for the cut, I gave them a 3 dollar tip on top of it. Was done in under 30 minutes.

I’m sure all stylist are different here and the others looked to be doing a great job - but a skinny man has hands that didn’t stop shaking and butchered everything done with a clipper around my ears. I had to stop him from doing more, I don’t feel good about it but he shouldn’t be cutting hair.

Good place to get a haircut, despite the price hike during COVID 19. It's still cheap compared to other places and still, the results don't lie.

Had hair cut twice and the first one was my fault for not showing a reference, however for the second one I did, the outcome looked similar to the first one and the barber did me dirty, did not even look close to the reference, perhaps next time I'll ask for a different barber.

Hands down my favorite place to get my hair cut! Fast, affordable, and kind! I don't speak Chinese, despite being Chinese, and feel totally welcome. I highly recommend going here!

I almost feel bad that these guys are only making $7 plus tip for a haircut in this inflation economy. I was just looking for a haircut nearby and the dude standing in this shop with an open chair reminded me of my old barber back home in LA, slim Cantonese dude with stylish dyed hair, I knew right away I was in good hands.

I've been going here for a couple of years and they are still providing great haircuts at a great price! The barbers were nice and they make sure you are as comfortable as possible. They are usually busier later in the day, but if you go in the morning you should be able to get a quick cut and get out without a wait.

Hair cut wasn't the best, but for the price it can't be beat. I'm sure if I would've been more vocal, I would've gotten exactly what I wanted, but the lady who cut my hair was so nice, I just said, "yes," to whatever she asked, lol

Very cheap and affordable, but professional as well! Although the price is slowly going up for a basic haircut (currently at $7 as of Dec. 2020). It is still one of the cheapest you can find around the city. The ladies can speak mandarin, Cantonese and even English to get the job done. Don't let the price fool you, you'll still be getting a professional haircut that comes out more than decent! Further proof can be seen through the time and attention to detail they spend on the haircut.

It's a great place for a quick $5 haircut. They only speak Chinese (I think it might be Cantonese) so be ready to show them a photo of what you want your hair to look at.

Cheapest and Greatest place for a simple haircut. Not only do they handle Chinese straight hair well, they could also manage a great haircut for curly hair. My boyfriend loves coming here and get the hair cut from the owner of this place. He has very curly hair which is very hard to deal with. Also he needs to look professional for his work. He has been coming here whenever he is in town since we discovered this place 1 year ago. The owner has decades of experience of dealing with hairs but only charges $5 dollars for a hair cut! I sometimes get my hair treatment here for only $25! They work very hard to make sure you loves the outcome! The only thing is that they only speak Chinese. You might need to bring a photo of the kind of hair cut you like to get. Or you can ask a Chinese speaking friend to go there with you and help you to describe in Chinese. I don’t think you will turn to any other barber shop after the experience with Ting Ting Salon in Grand Street!
