I’ve seen the same stylist for at least 15 years, and was heartbroken when she couldn’t do my hair anymore. I was so apprehensive of seeing someone new. I went to Jackie’s salon and saw Lauren Martin. She did an absolutely phenomenal job and matched my color flawlessly! She made me feel right at ease and I couldn’t be happier with my hair. The Salon is a cute little boutique in west Annapolis. Very charming! Happy I’ve found my new go to spot!

I have been displaced from North Carolina because of hurricane Helene. I was way past due on color. The salon was beyond accommodating to try and get me in and I had an appointment the next day! If you are new to the salon ask for LAUREN! She is fantastic. She corrected my coloring and gave me a terrific cut! I couldn’t be more pleased!

I have been going to Jackie’s Design for many years, and have to give them all high praise and recommendations to anyone who wants a very personal and enjoyable salon experience. Beginning with Stephanie who coordinates and provides services and appointments, with such kindness and efficiency, she is truly supportive of a very successful business. And Jackie, who is so professional and knowledgeable with so many new ideas, that I always have so much fun and faith when getting a new cut and color. She truly enjoys her business and her many talents and techniques show. As well, I’ve always had incredible outcomes with Joanna their Esthetician. Not only can she suggest and take care of all your skin needs, when you leave you’ll feel incredible and with a smile, your in good hands.

I have had the pleasure of working with Lauren Martin for several years now. She is incredibly talented in every aspect - cut, color and technique. In the time I have been working with her - I have had a pixie cut with platinum color, a neon pink color in a pixie and a below the ears style and finally landing on shoulder length cut in cooper. In all of these incarnations, first of all she nailed each one so beautifully, second she had ultimate patience when COVID had me doing my own hair and she had to repair it, but most of all, she was up for each and every challenge. She made it fun and I left the salon each time feeling AMAZING!! 10 out of 10 would recommend Lauren a million times over!

I lost all of my hair due to alopecia. I received vacuum hairpieces from a charity until I was 21 years old. When it was time for me to buy a vacuum hairpiece for the first time in 2019, I called Jackie. Since then, I have bought three hairpieces from her. The hairpieces are of very high quality and are custom-made to fit my head. When Jackie made the mold of my head, she spent a lot of time making sure that it was perfect (hairlines were in the correct place, not crooked, etc.). All of this is important because it affects the way the hairpiece fits and how natural the hair looks. A few weeks after Jackie sent the mold to the manufacturer, the plastic trial cap came in. I had to make sure that the cap fit my head before they started to make the hairpiece. About 3-4 months later, my hairpiece came in. Jackie cut and styled it to make it look natural. I get a lot of compliments on my hair. Whenever I tell people that it's a hairpiece, they can't believe it. Anything that is custom-made is pricey. Jackie is very transparent with pricing. The hairpieces are affordable for their quality. They last a long time and you can send them back for repairs. Jackie was with me every step of the process - making the mold, cutting the hairpiece, sending it back for minor repairs, and coloring it. She is very talented and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a custom-made vacuum hairpiece!

Jackie’s Design is just fantastic, and it is no surprise my entire family goes there! Jackie is very thorough and professional! She will ensure she understands exactly what you want before proceeding with any service. I highly recommend her for any color/ highlight service and hair extensions. She is experienced and knowledgeable and keeps up with the latest techniques in the beauty industry. Stephanie, who does my eyelashes, is simply the best! She is so gentle, and it’s relaxing. People always ask where I get them done; please go see her! I am truly grateful for the entire team, and I will continue to refer my family and friends.

The lady who did my hair was name Karly. She did an amazing job! She went out her way to explain to me the steps that needed to be done with my hair and how to take care of it. Along with going out her way of showing me products that would be great for my hair. I’ve struggle with finding someone who knows how to work with my hair. I’ve been to so many places in Annapolis and never really loved my outcome or end results. I definitely will be coming back and happy that I found a place that can finally work with my hair!

I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to write a review. Jackie has taken care of my hair for 10 years. I have foil highlights and my hair looks great! I have recommended her to friends and strangers who compliment me and ask where I go. Her salon is welcoming and comfortable. Everyone I have ever worked with has been so friendly! Don't hesitate to book at this salon. You will love the results! Edited to add: Jackie has highlighted my hair for 12 years. She is amazing. The salon is so friendly and relaxed and welcoming. What is new for me is a new regular facial appointment. Stephanie does a fantastic job making the appointment effective and relaxing. She shares what products she uses but there is no push to purchase a bunch of products if I don’t want to. My skin and eyebrows look great and I walk away refreshed with glowing skin.

I can’t say enough good things. I had a stylist from another salon cancel for my wedding day. Upon a referral I called Jackie’s. She was able to get me in quickly for a trial for my special day with Carly. Not only did I love Carly and her wonderful demeanor she was able to style both myself and my maid of honor on the day I needed. She scheduled a bit of extra time just in case and we had a fabulous morning. I loved my hair, felt like a beautiful bride and received so many compliments. On a side note, I have enough hair for two people and it’s very thick, I should have been charged extra for all of the bobby pins it took to tame my main. It lasted all night without a hair out of place. I can’t say enough good things my disaster turned into a win . Fantastic service and knowledgeable styling with beautiful results.

My wedding was at 11 am and this meant I had to be in the salon by 7 am. The service was great, and the makeup and hair came out amazing. I was worried about the time crunch because my sister has so much hair, but we made it out in time! Today I had a consult with Jackie regarding my baldness related to chemotherapy. I had made the mistake of just going to store that sold wigs and bought two for the style and was told that they could be colored to match my usual color. Quickly found out that that was not true, the stylists I consulted were reluctant to attempt to color for fear of color not taking and especially because the color of the wigs was dark and I wanted to go lighter. I should have been told that wasn't a reasonable expectation. Jackie who is obviously knowledgeable as she has clients who suffer from alopecia educated me as to types of wigs and based on my situation what a good choice would be for me. She measured my head, brought out catalogues and hair color strand samples and spent time working with me to find a good option for what i needed a wig for. I can't be more pleased with the consult and advice. I am very grateful to Jackie for her patience and education. I highly recommend this salon and in particular Jackie.

I have Alopecia Universalis. I’ve had this over 25 years. Prosthetics have changed; however it’s not easy to find someone who knows baldness, has an excellent human hair prosthetic person and will fit the prosthetic to your head so that it will never move. Not many people that know me know that I wear a prosthetic. Jackie is the best for those of us with Alopecia Universalis. I would be happy for you to see my hair at any time. Jackie just updated my hair on my prosthetics tonight and she knows exactly where, what and how much to cut. Her costs are phenomenally excellent. I’ve been coming to Jackie’s design for about a year and a half now and Jackie is probably the only hairstylist I can really trust with my hair. She is super diligent and has done a balayage and red on my hair and both turned out amazing. I have naturally curly hair and my curl pattern doesn’t seem to be compromised even after all of my root touch ups. I recommend this to my friends 100% and anyone wanting to check out this salon I highly recommend.

Jackie’s team did a fantastic job with my hair and makeup. Julyea and Karly worked well together to get my 3 bridesmaids, 2 mothers and myself ready for our wedding and everyone looked beautiful. Each of them were receptive to comments and feedback as they did our hair and makeup and were able to style a variety of looks to meet each person’s vision. Both our hair and makeup lasted throughout the ceremony and reception to make for great photos all evening long.

Staff I interacted with are talented and respectful. The same is not true of the owner, Jackie, which is why I am leaving a 1 star review. To make a long story short, Jackie apparently thought she required me to have both my hair and makeup done in order for one of her stylists to come to the salon on a Saturday. This was not once relayed to me. Instead, I was told that I would be paying a higher price than usual for hair and/or makeup to have a stylist available at the salon on a Saturday, and I agreed to this marked up price. Multiple times I mentioned that I wanted my makeup done and was less sure about hair since this was simply for outdoor family photos. I ended up paying $174 for makeup, after which Jackie called the salon and asked to speak to me. This was the first time I had ever spoken to Jackie. She condescendingly lectured me for not getting my hair done too, adding it was not worth it for just makeup, after I explained to her that I was never informed that I was required to get both services. Instead of believing me or treating me with any decency, she went on a tirade. I ended up leaving the salon, thanking the artist as I was happy with her work and did not want her to feel distressed, but I was in total disbelief over how I was just treated by Jackie to the point I was shaking. I do not place blame or criticism on the person who booked me or the artist. However, any half-way decent business owner would have the common sense to work this out with staff versus harassing paying customers. My response to Jackie's response below: Jackie is being untruthful. It was never once mentioned that I had to get both hair and makeup done. It's odd that Jackie is certain of this yet she never talked to me before, and she even admitted over the phone she had been away. Also, I never used the term "jacked up." I said "marked up" above. Please read between the lines--see how Jackie responds to negative reviews. Her responses are clearly unprofessional (e.g., changing my words to sound rude and flamboyant; accusing customers of lying; lying herself by denying that the price I paid was marked up; making hasty assumptions; calling customers "strangers," etc.). I have no reason to lie. I have no skin in the game. It was such an awful exchange that I felt compelled to leave a review. Response to Jackie's edit: I did make edits to condense my review so I had space to respond to Jackie's response (as there is a character limit). I deleted what Jackie said to me verbatim and summed it up. I never insulted hair stylists or makeup artists. I wish I was skilled in that way. More notably, I did not even know Jackie belongs to a minority group. Her making this false accusation (that I insulted her as a minority business person) only hurts progress towards equality. These false allegations, which I believe are rare in general, only fuels bigoted people into believing discrimination no longer exists. Jackie lacks scruples. Further, I just noticed that Jackie added that it was the stylist's day off--not true. I had to meet at 9 AM in order for the stylist to make it to another event, where she was doing hair/makeup. Another reason I thought not having my hair done was not a big deal. I hope her employees are reading this because they will see 1) Jackie lying about the marked up price, 2) Jackie lying that it was the stylist's day off, and 3) Jackie lying that she required me to get both hair and makeup done.

This is the only salon that I trust to properly deal with my hair. Their extensive knowledge and skill are truly unmatched. Welcoming staff, and talented employees! I was thrilled with my color, cut and facial. I recommend this salon to everyone!

I am OBSESSED with my lash extensions by Stephanie Atkinson. They look so real, people have stopped me mid-conversation to ask what mascara I’m using. I’ve had makeup artists say how good they look. Stephanie is such a wonderful and skilled professional- the time always passes quickly and the end result is always perfect. I appreciate her attention to detail and she is always available for questions. I’ve seen lash extensions before that look shabby and fake- NOT the case with Stephanie. Call her and book it!- you won’t regret it! B

I have been going to Jackie's for hair coloring and cuts for a few years since moving to Annapolis. I absolutely love this salon! When the time came for my wedding, I didn't even have to look anywhere else for my hair coloring, styling, makeup, lashes, and facials! Jackie, Karly, Stephanie, and Joanna made me look and feel so beautiful on my wedding day! Not only are they talented and professional, they are also so much fun! I couldn't of asked Jackie for a more elegant, yet functional updo. During my wedding, I was able to dance and take my veil on and off without a hair falling out of place. Karly did such a fantastic job on my makeup, even when I made last minute changes the morning of the wedding. Also, although it was the middle of July, I never had to retouch my face! Stephanie's skills spoke for themselves too, even weeks before my wedding when I went in for my first lash extension appointment. I had so many people leading up to my wedding complimenting me on how natural they looked. Joanna's facials made my sometimes temperamental skin feel hydrated and relaxed. All in all, I can't imagine what I would do without this salon. Jackie and her team are the best!

Jackie's professionalism throughout the whole planning process was less than desirable. The girls that came and did our hair and makeup were great and they made all the women happy/ beautiful! I by no means want to take away from their work. However, Jackie's communication was extremely poor throughout the time leading up to my wedding. Specifically, I requested to have another bridal trial because I postponed my wedding a whole year and my hair grew 11 inches. I was unable to get a hold of Jackie or anyone in her shop for months after numerous calls to the receptionist and emails. It was not until I threatened to take my business elsewhere that she finally responded with very limited available on when she could get me in. My mom tried several times to talk to her when she went into her shop to deliver payment for our contract and she was always too busy to come out and even say hello to my mother who was handing her several thousand dollars. She made no attempt to try to plan the logistics of our big day out with me or my mother and tried to tell us that the girls could not all be there together but instead had to make appointments one at a time. Part of someone's big day is having their best girlfriends and family all together while getting ready. But nonetheless, I tried to comply by scheduling each of my girls in 45 minutes increments. These appointments all fell by the wayside on the day of when we all realized just how disorganized everything was. The makeup girl fell waaaay behind and we all ended up piled in there together waiting for hours to have everyone done. I honestly did not think she would get through everyone and she had to call the help of the hair artist to assist in doing makeup. Things were so disorganized that we were not ready by the time the photographer came at our pre-discussed time. I could not get photos of all my girls in robes because they did not all have their makeup done. Furthermore, my two 85 year-old grandmothers (who were included in our head-count ahead of time) almost missed my wedding because they were last to have makeup. Both of them had to call on help to assist them to get dressed in our bridal cottage with a dozen other women and no privacy (these grandmothers both have physical limitations). While, they still made the wedding and looked beautiful, it was very stressful and not exactly how I wanted my two lovely Grandmothers to have to get ready for my big day. Jackie later admitted that she should have had double the help that day for our party. And for the amount of money my mother paid her, I think it is safe to say we deserved better and more of Jackie's attention to plan for this. It was not like we surprised her with additional people...we told her the exact number of people months in advance. So why couldn't Jackie have provided adequate staffing? We all looked beautiful but the disoraganization caused added stress to my big day that I did not need or want. I was flustered all day and afraid not everyone would make it. For these reasons, I am giving Jackie Nunez's business 3 stars.

It was terrific! Everyone is friendly and the staff is taking every precaution to make sure the salon is safe and completely disinfected. I feel very comfortable going to my appointments. 5++ stars!
