Joshua and James are spectacularly talented and I always get compliments on my hair color. They are generous with their time and suggestions, and provide a welcoming environment. The salon, itself, is beautiful, with a zen feel - until the laughing starts. :-) They are a delight to be around, are knowledgeable and special. I'll never go anywhere else.

The James Corbett salon is the very best in New York City (and that is saying a lot!). In my many years in the city, I have been to many hairstylists and colorists, but the team here is really the most skilled, kind, patient, and expert that I’ve ever encountered. They’re all true artists: Tina is an exceptional colorist of the highest caliber. I started with dark brown and wanted to go blonde, and although I was anxious to get there quickly, Tina suggested doing it in a way that would look beautiful and also protect my hair. I was thrilled with what she did from the very first appointment and have been going back consistently for about 10 years now. Sho has cut my hair and I cannot say enough good things about him. His intense concentration while at the same time making me feel comfortable and in the very best hands, is a true art form. I feel like I’m visiting friends whenever I get my hair done. And I have to mention the sensitive soul ambassadors: Charlie, Poldy, and Otto, who make my visits a heavenly and completely joyful experience. At the salon right now (1/17/2025)! Love this place even more as time goes by. Always a perfect experience, from the ultra-talented hair artists, to the beautiful design/atmosphere (an oasis of calm and otherworldly), to the sweet and hilarious doggies, it is always a reset experience where I leave happy and relaxed (and always thrilled and amazed with my hair).

This is a salon that always makes me smile. It feels like home, without the fights. The stylists are excellent. Sho is an artist! The colorists James and Josh are fantastic. And you can bring your dog.

LOVE THIS SALON!!!! I started going to James for color and Sho for haircuts back in 2010. I “cheated” on James in 2016. Worst mistake I ever made as my hair got fried and was falling out of my head! James and Sho fixed my hair without ever making me feel guilty about it having strayed from them. I certainly learned my lesson! I’ve since gone to my natural silver and no longer need a colorist, but I still see Sho for cuts. He is an absolute MASTER. His attention to detail is impeccable. Every time my father, a master barber, sees me, he comments on what a great cut I have (as does everyone else!). James Corbett studio cares for their clients like few salons I’ve seen. Talented hairdressers, incredibly hospitable, they make you feel like you’re at home when you’re in their cozy space. 1000% recommend!!!!!

There is only one Gloss Boss and it's James Corbett. The best hair colorist in town. He is superb and really showed me how his custom hair care/color puts the box colors to shame. I also get great cuts in his salon.
