It was fall 2021 where I went on two dates with a nameless gentleman over the course of a week or so. During that time, while he was driving me home, he pointed out the hair salon that I lived by saying “that’s where I go! Joaquin is the best.” He was insistent on me booking him so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, nameless gentleman and I never made it to date three (finance bros, am I right?) but I am happy to say that a wonderful on going relationship with Joaquin and his top notch hair skills has been going strong for 2+ years! I am so grateful to have met him so I can have Joaquin in my life. So thank you, gentleman who will remain nameless. I hope you got the referral discount.

If you’re looking for a hairstylist, then look no further. Joaquin is phenomenal and highly recommend him. I have tired a few other places before and Joaquin’s Studio stands out. I will definitely be going back.

The studio was clean and well-kept and well-decorated, but I didn’t have a good experience. Joaquin barely spoke to me for the entirety of my perm appointment (80 minutes), didn’t talk me through anything or tell me what was going on (I’ve had many perms so maybe he thought I didn’t need to be told), but then he rinses me and I go look in the salon mirror and now there’s less curl in my hair than there was when I came in. I had very tightly permed, grown out curls (I told him it had been 10 weeks since my last perm), and I hoped the assumption would’ve been that I wanted a refresh to what I already had. But I wasn’t really asked what I wanted. I told him the perm rod color I had and loved last time, and he brought a similar size so I thought everything was fine. Maybe he used a body perm solution instead of standard, but I wasn’t asked what I wanted or told what I got. After a cut and a perm, my hair is now wavy/textured when it was curly 3 hours ago.

Oh, Joaquín! What can I say... He is a professional Master! I been getting all of my hair services by Joaquín many years now and I'm always in love with his work from haircuts, treatments, hair coloring, Balayage, updos, ombre, etc. I have practically done everything to my hair. Even a crazy haircut that I sketch for him. Just what I expected! Loved it. Till this day he has done wonders to my hair! I have referred my family and friends to Joaquín. For his extraordinary experience. I love that his salon is organized and sanitized. A clean salon is a must for me. Very detailed and stylish. The hair products he recommends are the best quality. Went in for a much needed haircut and opted for long layers. Turned out great! I received many compliments. I love to support local businesses and would really like to see this salon stay open. Friendly, professional and good location too. Treat yourself and grab a Japanese donut and coffee at 2D Restaurant a few doors down.

I travel from the western suburbs for Joaquin to cut, occasionally color, my hair. I have followed Joaquin around to a few salons and so happy for him to have his own place! Not only do I think he does a great job - it’s just a nice place to be. He is a kind, thoughtful, good person to be with.
