I have been going to John Anthony’s on a monthly basis since moving to south Philly a few years ago. Terri and Quin are the best! Whether you need a cut just to clean things up or for a special occasion, events, or holidays, you can always expect attention to detail, flexibility with scheduling, and great conversation. Whenever someone asks where to get a reasonably priced but excellent haircut, I only recommend John Anthony’s and do so without reservation

I've been to many Hair salons in my lifetime and I want to say I am extremely happy I made the choice to "park" at the corner where John Anthony Salon is located. I met the owner Teri to explain parking my work truck and I would be back in a few minutes to move it. I had to visit a job site nearby. After my business was completed I moved my truck to a better spot and went to have my hair cut. Teri was phenomenal! She gave me the exact cut/style I wanted all while being a great conversationalist! I felt as if she had been cutting/styling my hair for years! I didn't feel rushed and felt quite comfortable. It will be worth a 45/60 minute drive to come back. I look forward to my visit next month!

Teri is a very talented stylist! She will give you the best cut of your life! I tell her all the time, you should be cutting for movie stars, and the famous! Whether you're looking for the latest high top grove, or a neat complete barber's cut Terri's your huckleberry! Quin is also great! Give John Anthony's a whirl, your gal will love the new GQ you! Book ahead Terri, and Qui are always in demand!

Excellent haircut! Everyone there was super friendly, the service was excellent and had a great conversation. I also look like a new better person after my haircut :). I would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a place to get a hair cut or beard trimmed to give this place a try if you haven’t already!

Best hair salon in Philly! I have been Teri's client for over 30 years. I happily drive an hour to get her expert cut every month. Always get compliments after her cut. Tha KS Teri!!!

I took my son here as a walk-in. Both stylists are very friendly & they were able to squeeze my son in immediately. She did a fabulous job on his haircut. Definitely recommend!

Update: I upped my review to four stars because the owner, Terri, made things right. She was kind and apologetic about the situation and said that nothing like this has happened before and I believe her. Perhaps her associate Quinn was simply having a bad day. I wish the best for Terri and her business. I am surprised of all the great reviews. I did not want to give too bad a rating because I don’t want to hurt the whole shop since my experience was only with one individual there, so I gave three stars. I’m not sure if it was something I said or if she was simply not great at her job but I had a rather unpleasant experience with poor final results as well. I always try to assume the best in others but I have been to a lot of barbers and salons and have had generally pleasant experiences. The lady I had (who did not give her name but had braces on her teeth) was extremely rough with the buzzer, hit/went over my entire ears with it a bunch of times until they hurt and were beat red, didn’t listen to what I wanted at all, rushed the haircut and constantly touched my face and EYES with her hands in some unusual attempt to pull my hair back, I suppose.(she touched my eyes and face about 30 times?!) She brushed my head so hard that it began to hurt and now still feels itchy and she brushed onto my face/head with a hard brush, which is also red now. She also tilted my head back and forward to such an extreme extent that it was comical. I was thinking “you’ve got to be messing with me.” I asked her for a fade and she instead hastily and roughly used one buzzer length for the entire side of my head, messed up my hairline and made my hairs look shaggy and unkept. I look like I still need a haircut. She also messed up my edges and made the hairline around one ear about an inch higher than the other and also missed a bunch of hairs all over. Even with the lower price and the tip I reluctantly gave, it was not worth it.
