Stefanie is a hair GODDESS. I have been seeing her for my hair for three years now and won’t go to anyone else. She is talented and has a superior eye for what works with someone’s face and style. She really crafts her cuts unique to the person, and that’s what I noticed in her clients photos from the start. I always feel great when I leave the salon, which is so nice. Most importantly, she is kind, caring, compassionate and considerate. You can tell she appreciates her clients. I always feel better after I see her. 10000% recommend.

DO NOT TRUST THIS SALON. I am so sad to report that Julien Farel cannot be trusted to do the right thing and evidently doesn’t have his clients back. After spending six hours in a chair getting brand new extensions, I went to Julien Farel Salon for my haircut as I normally do. I asked for long layers and curtain bangs. Their stylist Patrick hacked off my hair in the most shocking way. It’s so bad that I have to put in new extensions in the front now and start from scratch, which will cost me siginificant money and time. Julien is refusing to pay for this mistake and replace my extensions. Julien will only cut my hair more, which means I have to accept a haircut I didn’t ask for or pay for. This used to be my favorite salon for cuts and blowouts in nyc, and I will never ever go there again and you shouldn’t either. Now we know that if something goes wrong, Julien will not do the right thing and is willing to lose customers over it. I’m shocked and appalled.

This is my first review ever, but felt it was relevant for the benefit of others. I asked for a standard men’s haircut. After a 30-40 minute haircut, I was charged almost $400. I would have had no issue with this if it was mentioned before, as this price is outrageous compared to any other men’s haircut. The stylist was outstanding, so no issue with him. Though it was still just a basic haircut (at my request). The issue is with the business practice.

Avoid Parvin at all costs! If I could give no stars, I would. Not only did I fall into the “Bergdorf blonde” marketing scam with this newcomer to the salon, I was also overcharged. She burnt off all my baby hair with bleach, my roots were left orange and she also charged me for a full head of highlights when I asked her to only lighten around my face. I’ve loved this salon for years but I will not be returning to this mess again. She is beyond overrated, kept constantly asking other colorists on how to treat my hair. AVOID!!!

Love my colorist Mike, stylist Miguel and Ajolie one of the best at Julien Farel. I’m never disappointed. Great service!!! Always feel refreshed when I’m done.

Always amazing. I go to Rudy for the defrizz treatment. Best anti frizz treatment of anything I’ve ever tried (keratin, Brazilian, etc.). Will always come back!

Update a/o 2/16/24 - So recently I started bringing my mom to get her hair done as she’s getting older, and I need to watch her a little more closely. I can’t describe the joy, warmth and pampering she feels when she comes here. She’s elated, and just to see that look of pure joy on her face is priceless. We are truly treated like family here. A great big heartfelt thank you to Patrick, Lila, Anjolie, Evelyn, Millie, Donada, Ella and the front desk team. Quick Update Here a/o 4/28/23 - Rudy did a phenomenal job with my highlights and Patrick cut and styled my hair to perfection as always. I’d like to thank Evelyn who is such a sweetheart and always welcomes me so very warmly. It’s a blessing to encounter such a talented and wonderful staff. I agree with Emma. Patrick and Lila are the dream team! The stylists, front desk, assistants and coat check staff are simply wonderful and exude professionalism and down to earth friendliness. First class service all the way and I always leave here feeling elated. Thank you so much Julien Farel!

Expensive for what it was, disappointed in the lack of technical proficiency and industry knowledge of the stylist. Save your money and go downtown. $185 for a cut should be perfect not shoddy.

I have trusted Jackson with my hair for decades. He is truly a master of his art! I can’t recommend him enough. Julien Farel Salon is absolutely fabulous and the hair washes are gold!

I love this salon and the location but what I love most is Alex Mason my colorist. He uses an organic brand of products from Italy that has transformed my hair. Long lasting color without any burning leaving me with healthy gorgeous hair. The color is both rich and elegant. I frequently get compliments on my color and shine! If you are looking to upgrade your color game Alex is your guy. He is also a gem of a human being and so fun to talk to.

I visited the salon in February for hair coloring with Wayne. Afterwards I received a blowout and styling. Before my trip I called to ask for pricing and was given a range.Upon paying I was charged double what the high of the range would be, on top of a charge for a hot tool which I wasn’t told about. All of this would have been fine if my hair didn’t look like I colored it myself or went to a cheap random salon. I walked out with tiger stripes instead of highlights, uneven, and with super dry brittle and damaged hair. I called the salon multiple times and kept getting told that a manager will reach out to me. Here we are over three weeks later and no phone call.

On a recent trip to NYC, I had the pleasure of getting my hair cut by Alex Mason at the Julien Farel Salon (Alex works in both the NYC & Palm Beach, FL locations). It was such a relaxing and uplifting experience from start to finish. Alex gave me the perfect cut and style. My hair feels so healthy. Highly recommend!!

The owner Julian Farel deserves great credit. I had a issue he addressed it . He personally came to me and apologized. The salon is well run and totally professional. All staff are well trained and certainly know what they are doing. I have been in many Salons and with out a doubt this is the most professional and well run I have ever encountered. Very few Salons are as well run as Julian Farels. It’s worth a visit. All in all I loved this salon and highly recommend it. Y.

Went to NYC for the first time for my 30th birthday! Was lucky enough to see Alex Mason and get my first balayage. He is a blonde specialist and is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in his craft. His holistic approach and the natural organic products he used was my favorite part! Love the convenience to see him in NYC and Palm Beach Miami! Looking forward to my next visit! Came in asking for a more dramatic look, ended up with the most basic, highlighted bob. The colourist, Christopher, was nice and tried to remedy it by adding a streak of lighter colour at front. The hairdresser, Steven, made it very clear that he couldn’t be bothered to answer my questions, give his opinion or his time to the cut/blowout. They both knew I came all the way from London to get this done and I usually love the salon. I told Steven I wanted to leave with curls and even suggested how he could do that with a drier, I ended up with a straight bob. It was 7pm on Saturday so I guess he wanted to head out for the night. The worst part was how rude he was to the assistant helping him (she is Hispanic looking and something about this maple the whole thing worse for me) making it clear that he was irritated and didn’t want to be there. I left with a huge bill, feeling terrible

This 2 star review has nothing to do with the immensely talented colorists and master stylists at JF. This is strictly a reflection of the rude front desk staff. When you walk in, they look at you like you're bothering them. They don't say hello and they act like they absolutely can't be bothered. It's almost funny....if you weren't paying quite a bit of your hard earned money to have your hair done. I've given them 3 times to redeem themselves (this is my 3rd visit). By far, one of the worst front desk experiences I've ever had at a NYC salon.
