I went there to get my soft locs and I sent pictures of what I wanted was told it can be done. I got there they started braiding I said please make the box braids small so it can be full they didn’t listen. I said do you need to see a picture I was told I have it. I have gotten this style numerous times and when done right it comes out full my hair is not full and all I can do with it for the next couple of weeks is a ponytail until it puffs up a little and gets a little old. This was my mistake my regular person was out of the country I needed my hair done for my flight but I will never do this again.

2 weeks ago, my hair was braided by Kaba. My hair looks as good today, if not better. I'm extremely pleased with the outcome. Kaba crafted my hair into the most beautiful coiffure. Day of visit to the salon, my hair was tight, not achy. Kaba applied the right amount of tension to my sculp. Her fingers are nimble. Her manner professionalism. The process took more than 5hrs, my resulting delight is worth every hour I sent there. The Pressure free atmosphere of their beauty shop is friendly, clean, and nicely designed with a footrest for feet elevation( so thoughtful). My feet were comfortably stretched out in front of me, relaxed Kaba earned my business, I'm a new client.

Giving this salon a 10/10! They’re so good that I drive down from Boston so I can get my hair braided. They’re affordable, the parting is super neat, the length of time is reasonable, and they make sure to color match the braiding hair to your exact specification. I HIGHLY recommend this place, and will personally continue going to this shop in the future. Halima is the BEST! amazing, amazing braider.

Kaba is excellent at what she does. I was very happy with the results of my Senegalese twists. My daughter also loved her Senegalese boho twists. She worked fast and efficient. Most of all she was kind and friendly. I highly recommend.

This hair salon is the first one I tried in NYC and have been coming back again and again. Kaba and Fatima are very attentive to customers’ asks and needs and I get my hair done often faster than expected. Highly recommend.

Kaba and her girls were very sweet and welcoming. They were kind enough to see me in short notice and they were fast!!, I came in for Bohemian braids and it was the fastest I’ve EVER been in and out of someone’s chair. The experience is worth every cent and more.

my first experience here was very poor, and i was unfortunately unable to get my hair done by them that day. i texted to make my appt, sent pictures of the style i wanted, and made sure that i got confirmation on the price before showing up. my appt was for 9AM, but when i got there, the ladies were standing outside. it seemed like whoever had the key was running late, and we weren't able to get in until minutes to 10AM. they were very apologetic, so i decided to wait, instead of just going to one of the sweatshops on 125. once inside, they did their best to get me started asap. the shop provides hair, but I brought my own human and synthetic hair that was cut at a specific length bc of the style i wanted....which was just literally knotless braids with goddess ends. i didn't want the full boho look, and i didn't want any of the synthetic hair hanging off the end. i wanted only human hair for the ends. this is how I've been getting my hair braided for the last 6/7 years. (personally, i just think the synthetic ends get a little raggedy after 3 weeks, even if u redip them regularly) after completing the first braid, the braider showed me her work. it was a boho braid, but she did the boho towards the end of the braid, creating a similar look. the synthetic ends were still left out, and their plan was to curl them. i explained once more the style i was requesting and showed them the picture i had shared with them earlier in the week. they refused to do the style, saying it was too hard, but did offer boho styles or a pick and drop look (micros w/human hair), but that's not what i wanted. it seems like they do decent work, as long as you stick with what's on their service menu. the shop was full with appts by 1030, so i wouldn't not recommend them, but i was definitely disappointed with my own experience. that said, i would not bring my small child here, as we were greeted by a furry friend upon arrival, and i would be concerned about leptospirosis, hepatitis C, hantavirus, and gastroenteritis. to whoever owns or manages the space....steel wool will patch up the hole behind the dryers, until you're able to sheet rock, so that you don't have to worry about master splinter trying to stay warm and cozy in there at night. in the end, i wound up going to a nearby shop that I've used before, where they only charged me $200 for the style, but as someone who braids their own hair sometimes, i know how tedious it can be, so i paid them $250 and tipped the two braiders who worked on my head $20 each.

As unprofessional as they are talented. I’ve been here 3 times over the span of eight months. When calling to make an appointment, she’ll ask you “how much do you want to pay?” to then argue with you over the price. My most recent visit (two days ago), we had agreed over the price of $110 over the phone. I sent her reference pictures and confirmed with her multiple times. Upon finishing the hairstyle she got upset when I gave $110 and said that the hairstyle would be at least $180. They’re good braiders, but be prepared to deal with inconsistency at every turn and a level of unprofessionalism that will make you reconsider ever coming back.

I went there on 2/25 and let Kaba know ahead of time I have sister locs and asked if she works on dreads/locs and she told me yes. For box braids we agreed on the price of $100 over the phone and suddenly in person she changes her mind and tells me $160. I left there unsatisfied with the boneless appearance of my braids and it was painful but I thought it would get better with time. Within a few hours I was in so much pain from the tight braids and pulsing sensation that I did not sleep that night. The next day my scalp was swollen so I had no choice but to take out the braids. ONE day after getting them. As I was taking out my hair I noticed she took anywhere between 2-4 locs and put them together into one braid which is why I was in so much pain. I told Kaba and she said she would redo my hair free of charge as knotless braids and suddenly stops communicating. She gets angry when you make requests to change your hair and I highly would not recommend her and will never ever return.

Called last minute and sent text of style. Was told to come she’d call her sister. I’m from out of state. When I got there, it was a typical African braiding salon. I was greeted, and given a seat. A young lady blew my hair out ( I have real 4c hair). I was told to bring my own hair, the hair I purchased they don’t use so that was kind of a waste. My hair came out nice, my only issue is she wouldn’t give me a price until we were almost done and we had to haggle a little bit, but I noticed she did this with most of the customers. Still I’m not a cash carrier and I always intend to tip so knowing the price ahead is good. I also didn’t get the new customer discount but it’s ok. I’d come back.

I wish I could give a different rating but my experience was not the best. I called to see if they could take me and the lady I spoke with told me the time to come. I asked about washing hair and she said she could do that too. I was a bit confused because it looked like it was a tailor store. Once I walked in I could see them braiding behind the tailor. The place was very small and packed with people. Not the cleanest and there was hair everywhere but of course it’s a braiding shop. When I arrived she was still working on someone else’s head. Almost half way done. I went to use the restroom and it was horrible. The was a bucket of dirty mop water in this small bathroom. It smelled bad. There was no soap. The toilet paper was wet. I had to leave. I let them know I was going to stop by the store and come back. I was gone for almost an hour and came back and she was still braiding the other woman’s head. When she finished she came over to me and I showed her what I wanted done. I wanted semi large braids in a bob so I could keep hair off my neck. My hair is bit long but I know their are tucking techniques to achieve the look. Unfortunately she could not do that so we decided to just braid down and curl the ends. Which defeated the whole purpose but it is what it is. I told her from the starts that I brought my own hair. I learned the hard way they don’t use anti itch/ prewashed hair. She kept trying to get me to use the hair she had but, I wasn’t about to have my scalp on fire. Once that was settled she starts to part my hair like she was going to braid it and I said it needs to be washed. She says you didn’t tell me that. I remind her that when we spoke on the phone she said she could do it. She takes me back to a make shift wash station and washes my hair. After blowing it out, which I’m not sure if she used heat protection or not, she finally begins braiding. I loved the technique she used. It was very gentle to my scalp. She braids fast and I should have been done within three to four hours but she stopped so many times to either finish someone’s hair or whatever else reason. The final results looked good or so I thought. I left for vacation the next day and I see pieces of my hair sticking out all over the place down the braid. It was overall a poor job. The lady was nice but I cannot recommend this shop at all.

The outcome is beautifull 😍 my girl Kaba is skilled!!! However be sure to CONFIRM with her about all aspects (style, cost, personel) and to get a confirmation on file. I had a 9am appointment - she didn't arrive to her store until 10am... I waited outside for close to an hour. With 2 other customers booked for a 930 and a 10. I confirmed 40$ for cornrows and submitted this style... she hadn't told me that what I had asked for would actually come to 120$ until she was half way through with the style. I bargained based on the lateness and lack of transparency to a better price but was also frustrated with that lack of clarity as a customer. She also said she would bring a friend to help do the other 2 women's hair but they hadn't shown up until an hour and a half later. These other two women were left waiting for 2-21/2 hours and ended up changing their styles because they were running out of time in their day... CONFIRM CONFIRM CONFIRM - but the outcome was incredible.

Today I had a appointment with kaba. Not only did she accommodated me last minute with a time change I was also running late and she still waited for me. She was very professional and kind I will definitely be coming back if I could give 20 stars it would be worth it and the price is very reasonable her shop very much suggested

there was a young girl that did my hair, she was extremely nice. And did my hair exactly I want it. Only problem I had was getting there and the owner of the shop telling me that I had to pay more because it was longer although she told me a certain price over the phone..
