I have been relying on Katie's artistry since before she created her own salon. This is because she always listens and I always get a fabulous and lasting style that is perfect for me. I always get compliments, even a month after the cut. And, the cherry on top is that she is so nice; getting my hair cut and blown out is fun. Her new space has a great energy.

Kate is honestly the best hair cutter/stylist I have ever had. Why? Several reasons, but here are the top 3. 1. I never have a clear idea of what I want, but she manages to translate my wacky requests into something that works; 2. I have no idea how to style my hair, but she manages to give me hair cuts that let me look pretty cool even though I can barely operate a blow dryer; and 3. her haircuts grow out really well! So even if I wait too long to get back in (which is pretty much always), I never look like a complete wreck. I mean really, what else could you want from your stylist!? Kate is a dream. If she ever moves to a new city, I will have to move too.

I'm so particular about my haircuts, and Kate just gets it. I've been following her around NYC for 16 years and even though I moved to Westchester 10 years ago, I can't quit her. Apart from being a great person, when it comes to her craft, she has true talent that is both intuitive and technical. Kate works true miracles: After decades of being able to barely manage my own hair with a blowdryer and a straightener, she gave me a perfect cut that I don't touch (except to add a drop of product). She also fixed my color, which was too dark in random places and gray in others. All this, and she's so great to talk to!

Katie is amazing! She is so skilled and patient. She takes the time to really hear what you want and customizes accordingly. She loves to talk but is also happy to just chill and let you relax. Her salon is private due to COVID safety and it being her own business so it feels really peaceful- which I enjoy. And she has great taste in music! The vibe and the cut are always just right!

I got so lucky when I found Kate after moving to NYC! She was able to seamlessly continue coloring my hair exactly as my previous stylist and has continued to astound me with every adjustment I’ve requested along the way for the past few years. Her studio is always so relaxing and chill, I look forward to my appointments just to feel like I’m taking a break from the world. It took me years to find someone who really understood how to work with my hair, and I’ve truly loved every haircut, treatment, and experience in Katie’s chair. I have been going to Katie for both cut & color for 10 years now. Such chill vibes, always a great experience. My grey has been coming in fast & furious, and I see her regularly for color. I love the ease of booking appointments online, super easy & I get confirmation & a reminder text - which is convenient. I am always happy with the service. She has infrared lights to speed up the color processing time - I don’t feel rushed, but I’m able to get in / out without eating up a chunk of my day. Always good music playing & Katie has great recommendations for tv & movies to check out.

I've gone through various hairstyles including curly fringe and she has nailed all of them! Not to mention she is a lovely person and it's always down for a good chat. I’m a very picky person when it comes to visual things because it’s part of my profession as a creative director/art director. So when it came down to my hair, I really wanted to find a stylist who didn’t just cut hair, but someone who really had a great eye and is meticulous with the details, who could really bring to life the style I had envisioned for my hair. Katie is the ONE and ONLY stylist out of the numerous places I tried all over NYC that truly had all of the above. That was almost 15 years ago...and I’m still a forever fan and probably forever client of Katie! :) She really does evaluate everything about your hair, and is also great at taking any feedback. I always love visiting her and feel so refreshed and renewed after each cut. I’ve since moved to Austin, but still come back for a Katie cut. A true pro, artist, oh and she’s just a lovely person too! <3

I’ve seen Kate for a few years. She has given me bobs, lobs, shags, and mullets. My hair always looks and feels healthy after a visit to Kate. And since I like a messy undone look, Kate delivers the goods. I never look overly done. Kate is hands down one of the most talented stylists I’ve ever been to. I first came across Kate years ago at another salon, when she filled in for my regular stylist who was unavailable the day I needed to come in. I loved the cut she gave me so much that from then on, I asked directly for her. Eventually I started working from home and the trek into Manhattan was a drag, so I found someone close to me. After a terrible cut by that person, I went marching right back to Kate to fix the disaster, which she did beautifully. Now I’ve learned my lesson and I won’t go anywhere else again. Kate has an amazing innate, extraordinary sense of what will best flatter the shape of your face, and work best with the texture of your hair. It’s more than just experience (even though she has plenty of that), it’s like some extra 6th sense she has that plenty of other perfectly trained stylists don’t. And on top of that she’s very down-to-earth, super nice, and pleasant to be around. During Covid her protocols were impeccable, and her salon is neat as a pin and very cute. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give Kate a 6!

Kate Dolinar gives phenomenal hair cuts!! I’ve had 4 cuts from her now over the past few years (her cuts grow out fantastic, so I sometimes go a year before needing another!) and I can officially say she is consistently great. I have searched for years for Kate! Never being satisfied with any of my previous haircuts, I resorted to re-searching on the Internet to try to find someone who specialized in long layered locks. I found Kate and tried her out. Now I’ll never go to anyone else again. Long layers are not an easy cut to get right. But she does, every time. She is also a very professional, sweet and generous person. I can’t say enough good things about Kate - I highly recommend her!

The best haircut I ever received at a NY salon was at the hands of Kate Dolinar. She was their top stylist, which meant she cost more, but I was more than willing to pay for it after she cut my hair. When I tried to schedule another appointment with her, I was devastated to learn that she was no longer there. So I hunted her down on the internet and found her. It was no surprise that she had opened her own business, which benefited me as her rates are far more reasonable than salon rates! I have been her client for years and can't recommend her enough - I've gone through many hair stages with her, from bold styles to boring, basic trims, and she does them all like the pro she is. Worth every penny. Book her!

Thirteen years ago, I walked into the salon where Katie was working, and got the best haircut of my life to date. I kept going back to see her and the haircuts just keep getting better. I won’t trust anyone else with my hair, and I will follow Katie anywhere! When I told Kate I wanted a cut that said, “I’m a competent professional but don’t think I won’t cut you….” she was like, “Got it” and gave me the haircut of my dreams that reflected the blackness of my soul, while also making me look super-hot and competent. She never judges when I procrastinate months between cuts (like everyone says, they grow out magnificently) or perform abhorrent experiments on my own hair. She just says, “hmm…” and looks up the offending ingredient list. She can explain “chemistry,” if you’re willing to listen. More importantly, she will fix your hair. She is a wise and experienced miracle worker.The scars on your psyche are your problem; however, I also find her low-key gothiness most soothing. Regardless of what you’re having done, get the Olaplex repair treatment and a finish with a gloss to restore your hair to nubile health and shininess.

Writing this review I realized that Katie has been cutting my hair for almost 14 years! In all that time, she's never given me a haircut that I wasn't satisfied with. I've had cuts that were long-ish and layered, as well as super short pixie cuts, and I've been happy every time. I agree with others here - she understands the way your hair works. The other thing I will say is that her cuts always seem to grow out well, which in my opinion is the sign of a good haircut! Thanks Katie, and please never leave us!
