They never do what you asking for, and the headlines never straight !! Prices depends on how you negotiate, I was surprised the lady went from $260 to $180 but remember you getting what you paying for “the cheapest, the worst “ Horrible job, not even closed to what I asked for. I took the braids off next day. (Wasted of money)

I don't regret coming all the way from Connecticut to get my braids done with you. I would do it again 1000 times. I loved it, it was better than I expected and the girls were super nice. I liked the vibe.

I literally texted the owner if the hairstyle I wanted was possible for them to do and confirmed that I was bringing the proper hair. They did not give me what I asked for! I literally left on the verge of tears cause it looks so horrible. They were supposed to give me soft locs, but they didn’t use the proper technique. I wanted bangs too, but the hair was so stiff from the tightness, the hair didn’t lay down correctly. I had two ladies working on my head. Both of them doing different techniques. It was just awful. I was so upset. I still paid but I was in the chair for almost 5 hours.

Love love love!!! They did an amazing job. I got small-medium boho box braids. They had multiple people working on my head. I was out in 5 hours. Don’t walk…. Run!!! They are that good!!!

I call about getting my hair done in boho braids I asked how much in human hair only and was told 260 no problem. When I got there they going to say it can’t be done. And then try to charge me 280 for my hair. Which should have been 200. And then the lady cut my hair cause she didn’t tuck it in correctly.

My experience was amazing first time coming from downtown bk the place was clean the energy and vibes were great the lady’s in that shop top tier braiders the braids are neat and clean and they braid fast I definitely will be referring and recommend my friends neighbors cousins because baby i was just shocked 😮 I big ups the owner KenZa she definitely did her big one the atmosphere calm spot the music in shop was amazing I loved her energy she showed me as a new client just amazing keep leveling up and elevating with your workers and sisters in shop 🫶🏽

TLDR; the quality of this place has gone down from a 5-star neighborhood gem, but if you got time to waste and wanna save $$ this is still a nicer shop than most of the other braiders in the area. I'm bummed, because this place used to be my spot. I get my hair braided 1-2 times a year, and Kenza's shop has always been consistent. I've sent many a gf her way. It seems they recently grew the business (maybe due to social fame? dunno) - the original storefront on 116th had just a couple chairs in the back of a cell phone store, and I've had both Kenza and other girls braid my hair with no issues (I never felt like I needed to make sure I had certain braider). The work was great, the prices super reasonable, appointments were kept, and you got out of the chair fast. Cut to this week - I made an apt got to the new, bigger storefront (also on 116th but further West) 30 min early to my apt. The door was locked, the shop was crazy messy, and a girl was sleeping on a bench. It's clear no one knew I was coming, and honestly I should've taken the cue and gone home, but I've always had a great experience with them so I hoped for the best. My braids are super meh and my time was wasted. I used to always get out of the chair in under 4 hrs - this time it took 7.5 hrs. Like other shops there was food breaks, boyfriends showing up, FaceTimes. That's always a vibe at African braid shops, but it used to not impact Kenza's getting your hair done - someone used to come take over if people took a break, etc. The braids are uneven, which I mentioned to the braider, but it was so late at night, I gave up, and, honestly, I personally don't like getting my hair braided at places that I feel like I have to police people - that's not my vibe. There is so much gel product at the base of my hair that my head is sticky. The price also went up by $20. All in all, this is a slightly better (nice new chairs, internet, bathroom) than your run of the mill uptown churn and burn braider. The girl next to me had great braids and seemed to be moving faster even though she came later, so it might be on a braider by braider basis. I understand Kenza wants to grow and expand the business, but what made it special might go with it. Proceed with caution and may your crowns be blessed!

Will definitely be coming back to get my hair braided again. They did an amazing job. The environment was so feminine and all of the girls were nice and welcoming. They were very attentive as well, when I reached out through Instagram. The two ladies that braided my hair were very nice and did an amazing job, my hair is very short and their grip game was strong. I got my hair washed, dried, and braided (knotless boho box braids waist length) all under 5/6 hours, not to mention I have a lot of hair. I feel beautiful, I feel free, and I’m loving the color as well. I give them 5 stars and recommend to anyone who wants to do their hair!

I heard about Kenza braiding shops from Instagram. I have been searching for a nice spot to get my hair done for a very long time. I have NEVER gone to a professional spot before, I usually have family do my hair. This was such a great experience for my first time going to a professional. The ladies here were very nice and the location was very clean, they were constantly sweeping up the hair so the shop didn't look messy. All the ladies were constantly helping each other with their clients hair allowing for higher rotation in clients getting us in and out promptly. I walked in with no appointment and waited roughly an hour to be seen and it wasn't bad at all. The young lady who did my hair was nice, and fast. I was done in under 5 hours. I have been telling everyone I know to go to Kenza. I most certainly will be back and HIGHLY RECOMMEND y'all check them out. They take all types of clients ladies,men and even children from what I saw. Thanks Kenza for making my first time a great one!!!🥰😃🥰😃🥰

I loved how my hair turned out but I will never return here they sat there an talked about me like a dog while doing my hair and yesterday the girl with the bob who did my hair was rude and nasty I just wanted my hair finished the funny thing is I understood everything they said because I had my phone on translater she talked about me when she blew dry my hair she talked about the uneven part that she messed up on you guys are rude my 1st an last time coming you guys an you know what’s funny I had 50 dollar tip I wanted to give but since she was nasty from start yall don’t get shit from me learn better customer service an know how to stop talking shit bout people who paying yall she talked about me the whole time I sat in that chair yall to disgusting an im posting this review on my YouTube page I have a platform and careful who you come across

Positives: - They took me in as a walk in & finished my hair in about 3.5 hours - My braider focused on my hair & did not take long breaks - My braider was accommodating for the products/gel I wanted her to use in my hair without any pushback Cons: - Rough with blow drying/combing hair when it’s all out so I’m taking away one star. The stylists need better training on combing natural hair CAREFULLY to prevent breakage. Please come with your hair blowdried & detangled & SPEAK UP if they are rough. Some of the stylists were doing their own hair & are rough on their own hair too so don’t take it personally😂 lol…they just need to be educated to do better going forward. - While she did a nice job on my kinky twists, it did not turn out how I wanted so I’m taking away one star. The girl with the brown hair is me & how the stylist did my hair. The girl with the black hair is the inspo picture I showed for the sizing multiple times. My hair was done with about double the hair than the girl from the inspo picture. Ultimately I gave up because I just wanted my hair done & to get out. I knew it would at least look good even if it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. Something else I noticed on the women they were doing knotless on—the top of the braids near the root is skinnier than the rest of the braid. This will cause breakage for most people because the size is not uniform & it’s extra tension. All in all, I would come back for kinky/spring twists, but will still go to my usual braider for knotless/french curls/boho braid styles.

I was very pleased coming to Kenza Hair Braiding for my crochet style! Since there aren’t many crochet reviews I definitely want to highlight my experience. First off the key to a great crochet is the braiding underneath and Benta did a superb job braiding my hair. Then she crocheted my hair EXACTLY as I asked. Not too full but full enough. Everyone at the salon was wonderful and friendly! Also love the decor and pretty mirrors! I’ll be going back for sure! Can’t wait to try different styles here as well! Thank you!

Very friendly braiders and I like going here for knotless and feed-in braids. I would say, this is definitely a good braiding shop. That said, if you’re looking for more tender and care for your natural hair, detangle and shampoo, blow dry at home. Outside of braids - very rough with your hair (combing from root to tip with a detached piece of a blow dryer, on dry hair… recipe for breakage) audible sounds of a comb scrapping.. Overall, for braids, Does the job and great prices!

When they say appointment they mean it!! No waiting super fast service. Braids in under 6 hours. Would definitely recommend.
