Alayah did my hair recently and she knocked it out of the park. She is a hair scientist, I swear. She is so knowledgeable and teaches you how to do your hair independently. Highly recommend.

I have been coming to Alayah for close to 3 years now and she has been an angel sent. I cut my locs after 13 years of not knowing what my hair looked like. I booked a love session my first visit and have been taken care of ever sense. She is professional, personable, and most of all she genuinely cares about your hair. 5 stars.

I went to kurly koils two times before to get a haircut and style with Deja. She helped me start to feel better about my natural hair, and I finally liked where it was going. However, when she left, I got my most recent haircut 2 weeks ago, with Alayah. I told her a bit of my hair journey and my goals, but I was a bit alarmed when she started cutting my hair before we even did the wash and go. I trusted the process but felt like she was cutting off a lot of my hair. After I got finished in the bowl and she applied the products, my hair felt heavier and way crunchier, then it normally does when I get it done or when I do it myself. I needed to ask her to rinse me again to get all the shampoo out of my head. Detangling also hurt more than it did when I got it done there in the past, I felt like she was pulling, and I had to ask her to be more gentle. In the end, my hair had a super heavy cast that made it look dry, and then she cut it again after to make it more "even." By the end of it, she cut off over 2-3 inches of my hair, and I had to actually tell her to stop cutting. I am super disappointed at the cut even after waiting 2 weeks to see how the cast released over the week and see how it was after I did my own wash and go. My hair is wildly uneven and SO much shorter. I am feeling discouraged in my natural hair journey and will be going back to braids to grow out this cut. With how expensive their services are, I think there should be more consistency with stylists and cuts. Especially with natural 4c/b hair that shrinks up, reserved cutting is the best bet. I will need months to get back my length, and at the end, she even suggested I wait like 4 or more months before coming back. It stinks that the one natural hair place lost a stylist who can actually cut hair. I can't say how the other stylists are, but I don't want to pay for another expensive and uneven cut. Natural hair is something to take with care, not just chop off. I can't say how she does with other services, I think she focuses a lot on color, but that's not in my hair plans right now, so I will not be back to see her for another cut. Edit: I appreciate the owner replying so quickly but I do want to state that I came into the salon with week and a half old hair not freshly styled, ready to cut hair. Alayah claimed she was cutting stray pieces but of course there are pieces that are not fully placed because my hair was like a week and a half old. I think this is why the cut is so uneven now. I wish I would have been offered a return service for no fee or a good discount to make up for the expensive price I paid for hair I cried over rather than a justification that was not true for my hair. If I would have come with pre-styled hair myself I totally see what she's saying, that was just not the case for me. It still also doesn't excuse that even my partner, said "does your hair usually look that dry?" When we were talking at dinner the same night I got my hair done. I can understand transition challenge. I take my hair very seriously and I'm super disappointed and discouraged over this. I just hope others don't have similar problems especially those who were just starting to feel good with their natural hair. I feel like I'm starting from like square one again and with my hair type that's a hard feeling.

I have been going to KurlyKoils for several years now, specifically Britteny and she is AMAZING! Britteny’s haircuts and product/style recommendations have really brought my once damaged hair to healthy and beautiful. She is also very skilled with hair coloring and I love my results! The customer service at KurlyKoils is absolutely top tier and every time I go it is such a relaxing and comfortable experience. 10/10 recommend!

Each appointment always starts with “How is your hair?”- a chance to discuss what’s been going on and your goals. I’ve recently transitioned to Alayah as my stylist and I can’t wait to see what we can do! She’s very professional and an incredibly skilled stylist.

I’ve been going to Alayah at Kurlykoils for 4 years now, and my hair is the healthiest it’s been in decades! Her color skills are unmatched, and she always gives me tips to use when I get home. The atmosphere at Kurlykoils is warm and inviting, and I always enjoy my time there (who can say that about a salon experience?)!

Listen, you are getting price gouged for having curly hair. Just like men who are balding get priced gouged, so now do curly haired women. You can get an excellent cut for a fraction of the price. Over $225 just for a haircut and style? Lunacy. Just go to a regular salon and request a stylist who has curly hair. This review is not a reflection of their abilities as stylists, just their price gouging.

This was my first time coming to Kurlykoils. After a bad experience I had not gotten my haircut in 15 years. I had the pleasure of having Britteny care for my hair. This was the best experience I’ve ever had at a hair salon. Brittney spent time learning about me and my routine. During the style process she discussed each product she used and why she was using it. She took time to ensure I was happy with my style. I absolutely love my hair and will definitely be back. Everyone was so helpful and welcoming. Alayah did a wonderful job of helping this almost 54yo who has used a straightening iron on her hair since 1992 learn how to embrace my natural waves and take care of my hair. I felt heard and was treated with kindness and compassion. I can’t recommend Kurlykoils enough - particularly if you are feeling overwhelmed or confused about how to style or care for your hair - something that feels like it should be obvious, but often really isn’t.

I really had a great appointment with Brittney. She inquired a lot about my day to day in order to teach me how to care for my hair at home. At first I was nervous because I know my hair struggles a lot since I'm not able to see a professional as often as I'd like but when she trimmed me I was feeling more confident. I thought I already knew a lot about curly hair care and was managing my hair just fine, but I came in for a trim anyway. I was blown away!! Britteny absolutely opened my eyes to the perfect routine and restored my hair to its fullest potential! My haircut was custom to my goals and I even got a lesson on how to recreate the same results at home. My hair has never looked so good AND been so healthy! My Customized Curly Cut with Lay was fantastic. She answered all of my questions and was so careful and intentional with my hair. With constant hormonal changes in motherhood, my hair hasn’t felt like me in a few years. Having my natural waves/curls back upon departure lifted my spirits and my confidence!
